Daughters of the Elite - Chapter 117
Qian Meigui approached the long glass windows where the sun began to disappear behind the storming clouds. The rain started to trek down the windows; the soft pattern of the sound filled the space around her.
She heard someone open the door behind her, tapping their feet against the rug by the entrance. Qian Meigui turned around, where Song Sheng was shaking his umbrella. “I will bring you a towel,” she said by way of greeting as she immediately approached the bathroom, grabbing a dry cloth.
Song Sheng waited for her by the entrance until she arrived. He began shaking his head like a dog, trying to air-dry his hair. “You’re going to wet the floor,” she said, pushing his head low; using the towel, she ran the cloth over his hair. He didn’t let her finish when he glanced up at her, taking a grip of one of her wrists, and planting a deep kiss on her lips.
Qian Meigui puffed up her cheeks, feigning annoyance. But he smiled at her with his dimpled cheek that made her forgive him instantly.
After Qian Meigui finished drying his hair, Song Sheng removed his shoes, placing on slippers before entering their apartment. “Did you finish unpacking your clothes into the walk-in-closet?” he asked her, removing his long wet coat.
“Hm,” Qian Meigui responded, smiling.
Song Sheng returned to work, and these days, he had been busy catching up on his work-load since the incident. He had relatives take over the company after he took a medical leave of absence. Once he fully recovered, he thought it would be easier to see each other if he asked Qian Meigui to live with him.
Song Sheng’s closet was mostly empty, but now with her things, it was full and inviting.
When she left the house, the twins were deeply sad, as Song Ren had also left the nest, too. But Qian Meigui told her that they could drop by anytime, and to let them know in advance—in case they were not home, or in case they were exercising. Ever since she moved in, Song Sheng had been finding excuses to have s.e.x at unique places around the apartment. Not that she minded, though, Qian Meigui enjoyed their time together.
Ever since Song Sheng nearly died, they confided in each other through their bodies, as they were grateful for being together, as they couldn’t put that dark time into words. But they still spoke trying to heal their inner wounds. But, regardless of everything in the past, they were happy.
Qian Meigui stepped into the kitchen, preparing food when she received a phone call. It was Su Feng.
After he spoke, she responded, “WHAT!?”
Song Sheng was descending the stairs after he quickly changed into dry clothing. He furrowed his brows, puzzled. He stepped into the kitchen, “What is it?” he asked as he overhead Qian Meigui.
She didn’t say anything as she paced around the room, listening to whoever called her.
After she hung up the call, Qian Meigui went to the coat closet, taking one. “We have to go to the police station,” she said.
“Why?” Song Sheng asked her, worried.
Qian Meigui sighed enthusiastically. “The police arrested Song Ren,” she said.
“What!?” Song Sheng responded.
Qian Meigui passed him a dry coat and an umbrella. Without saying another word, Song Sheng followed her.
They arrived at the police station promptly. They found Su Feng in the waiting room when they approached him. “What happened?” she asked. Su Feng sighed, “Song Ren found Yu Qingge, and she beat the hell out of her. They practically had a brawl outside a nightclub. We didn’t know she would be there, and Song Ren disappeared without telling me where she had gone. I couldn’t find her until security explained to me what happened.”
Qian Meigui didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. “Song Ren got arrested because of a catfight?” she said.
Su Feng nodded and rolled his eyes, “It’s assault, they say.”
“Can they release her?” Song Sheng asked Su Feng deeply from behind Qian Meigui.
“I can get her out on bail, but her record won’t be clean. If she has this, it’s bad for Song Corporation. A doctor with a criminal record?”
“Is there anything we could do?” Qian Meigui interrupted glancing at Song Sheng and Su Feng back and forth.
“That’s why I called you two. Yu Qingge will drop the charges under a certain someone’s persuasion.” Su Feng glanced at Song Sheng, but Song Sheng’s face remained stern and cold, unwavering.
“Got it,” Song Sheng said, and nothing more. He then stepped passed them, heading towards the police officers. They let them see her in the local prison cell, not the ones for sentencing, but the ones detaining temporarily. Song Ren was standing, bored, wearing a thin-strapped black dress; she dressed promiscuously, no doubt because it was a date night with her future husband.
When Song Ren saw everyone, her eyes lit up. “Get me out,” she pleaded. Song Sheng approached the cell, “I should let them keep you here for being stupid,” he said. Song Ren stuck out her tongue, unapologetically.
Song Sheng then turned around to speak to the officer. “Was the other woman in the altercation here?” he said. The officer nodded, “Right this way.”
Yu Qingge sat on a chair within an office, not too far from Song Ren. She rose immediately as she saw Song Sheng, her face low in embarrassment. There were deep scratches on her face; her hair dishevelled. Qian Meigui stifled a laugh as she noticed that Song Ren looked well as if nothing happened.
“Miss Yu,” Song Sheng said deeply, his eyes resembling fire and fury.
Yu Qingge did not say anything, looking away.
“Officer, what did my sister and Miss Yu get into?” he asked.
The officer held a clipboard, “According to Miss Yu Qingge’s police report; Miss Song Ren had approached her outside the nightclub and attacked her saying, ‘You almost killed my brother and sister. Don’t f.u.c.k with the Song family or you will die, bitch,’ before she scratched and kicked her, as she pulled her hair.”
Qian Meigui’s lips quivered, preventing a laugh from escaping. But Song Sheng rubbed the space in between his brows, not amused.
Song Sheng then approached Yu Qingge, crouching down to meet her eyes. “Can you drop the charges against my sister?” he said tonelessly.
Yu Qingge snickered coldly. “You rich people think you can get away with things. She assaulted me. She should rot,” she said.
Song Sheng appeared to have almost lost his temper, but instead, he stood, towering her. With an icy tone, he responded, “Miss Yu. If you don’t release her without charges, then I will do nothing but charge you for compensation. Some of my agents have told me you declined roles I assigned you. Just because I was unwell, does not mean it would not have gone unnoticed. Let’s make a deal?” Song Sheng paused.
“Drop the charges, and I won’t charge you the 10 million Yuan you owe. But, unfortunately, you will be blacklisted, never to work in the Entertainment industry. But at least you won’t be in debt. What do you say?” he asked her. Qian Meigui nearly shivered. She wasn’t sure if she was scared of him or excited.
Yu Qingge appeared to have almost exploded. But she looked as if she was afraid of Song Sheng. “I will fight you in court,” she said.
“Hm,” he began. “But I am confident in my legal team to ensure that you don’t step foot in the entertainment industry,” he tugged Qian Meigui against him.
“To ensure you do pay 10 million Yuan,” He turned towards his girlfriend. “What do you say, dear? For 10 million Yuan, we could go months on holiday.” Qian Meigui smiled. “But we have work, my love,” she responded. Song Sheng snapped his thumb, “You’re right, my dear then we should use the money to invest. Doubling our pensions and then we can retire early.”
Qian Meigui gazed at him sincerely. She knew that Song Sheng had enough money for the two of them to retire now, but he was showing off their relationship to piss off Yu Qingge.
Yu Qingge gitted her teeth, annoyed. “I will drop the charges if the three of you leave and f.u.c.k off,” she said,
Song Sheng smiled satisfyingly. The officer nodded and proceeded to take Song Ren out of the prison cell. As soon as she got out, Qian Meigui embraced her hard. She knew how heated Song Ren must have felt when she saw Yu Qingge. Qian Meigui hates Yu Qingge, but she was not the one to do anything, but Song Ren didn’t care. She wanted to teach that woman a lesson, and she was touched. Song Ren patted her back, smiling. After they parted, Su Feng grabbed her, raising her high, kissing her. “Let’s get married,” he said.
Song Ren flushed as he let her down. “Sorry for being a troubled wife,” she responded with a cutesy face. Su Feng chuckled. “It was good trouble, and exciting too,” he replied. They both laughed.
“Thank you, brother-in-law,” Su Feng said to Song Sheng. Song Sheng granted him a curt nod by way of a welcome.
Afterwards, they all parted, and the rain had stopped. It was dark outside and the streets soaked by the pouring from earlier. Song Sheng and Qian Meigui drove back home. “Are you disappointed that you couldn’t damage Yu Qingge?” Qian Meigui asked him. Song Sheng raised a brow, “Her career is over,” he responded. “Our revenge has been fulfilled.” Qian Meigui smiled broadly at his response.
“Let’s sleep early tonight; we have a wedding to go to tomorrow,” she then changed the subject. Song Sheng smiled back at her mischievously.
Despite the earlier fright, Song Sheng and Qian Meigui were in high spirits. Wedding season seemed to compel them with happiness.
