Days With You - Chapter 1 1
-1 AM
After drinking a few shots of liquor, Kwan stares at her liquor. She knitted her brows as she recalls two words which came out of her grandfather’s mouth. Arrange. Marriage. She then grips the glass of cup tighter.
Saku, a mysterious man who only works under Kwan. Others calls him “Kwan’s right-hand man.” Saku heads to Kwan’s office. Knock. Knock. “Come in.” Kwan was looking at the documents. She looks up and see Saku, she returns to the documents. “What is it?” “Master wants to see you as soon as possible.” Kwan tilts her head on the side. [I wonder what that he wants.]
As she finish her work, she and Saku heads to the car. Kwan sits on the back of the car as Saku drives her to the Xing residence. Kwan looks out of the window. She remembers how she was taken into the Xing family.
[Flashback-Kwan was ten-years-old.]
Kwan lost her father due to cancer. Kwan’s mother left her for a rich man. Kwan then moves in living with her grandpa on the country side. A year later, her grandpa died due to aging. Her grandpa left her a note if anything happens to him.
Note:
Kwan, my dear child.
If you are reading this, then I’m no longer being with you. Please go to this address: 1342 XX Elm St. This place belongs to a good friend of mine. He will take good care of you on my behalf. He knows a little bit of you from me. You know me, I like to brag how beautiful and smart my granddaughter is. Murong. Murong is his name. He is the chairman of the famous MuTian company. Please take a good care of yourself, Kwan. Grandpa will always watch over you.
Sincerely your grandpa. Micheal.
Kwan then packs her stuff into her small bag and head out to the address that he left for her. As she roam alone, after a few minutes, she finally found the place. She rang the doorbell. A minute or two, a security guard comes over. “What’s your purpose of being here?” “I was sent by my grandpa, Micheal.” The security guard opens the gate and lets her in. “I know your grandpa. He’s such a good man.” “He is.” “How is he?” “…He recently passed away.”
The security guard was shocked. “My condolence to you.” “Thank you.” He escorts her inside of the mansion and takes her to the living room. “Wait here. I will reported to the Master.” She nods. As she waits, a mysterious lady walks in the living room. “Hey, you! Bring the bags to my room.” Kwan ignores her. “Hey! I’m talking to you.” Kwan lifts her head up high. “You’re mistaken. I’m a guest here not your maid.” “You, a guest?” She looks Kwan up and down.
“Ha. A guest, who have bad taste of clothes?” Kwan smiles. “At least its better than making your tits fall off.” The lady shaken in anger. “You! Don’t you know who I am?! You have no right to look down on me!” “So you have the RIGHT to look down on me because of how I dressed?” The lady was about to slap Kwan. “NINA!!” The lady named Nina, stops as she hears her grandfather’s voice.
“Grandfather! Good, you’re here.” Nina walks over to her grandfather and puts her arms around her grandfather’s arm. “This maid here is showing me some disrespect. Please teach her a lesson or two.” Her grandfather then brush off her touch. Nina was shocked. “G-Grandfather.” He puts his hand on top of Kwan’s shoulder. “Welcome. I am Murong. Please feel free to call me Grandfather.” Nina was furious. “Grandfather! Why would she call you Grandfather?!” He removes his hand off of Kwan’s shoulder and face Nina.
“Nina. Show some respects to her.” “What? Why should I? She’s just a lowly maidservant.” “NINA! She’s a granddaughter of my late friend. I won’t tolerate those who disrespects her.” Nina boils in anger and turns her heels, head upstairs to her bedroom. “Ni–” “It’s fine.” Murong turns to Kwan. “I’m used to it. Just let it go.” Murong nods. “Make yourself at home. If anyone bothers you, let me, Ivan, or Hector know.” Kwan nods.
After years living the Xing residence, Murong noticed how smart Kwan is. Murong announce, “Kwan will be my successor.” Everyone was uttered shock to hear the announcement. Kwan remains calm. SLAM! One of Murong’s son, Kyle, slam his hand on top of the table. “Father. She’s not even related to us by blood. How can she be your next successor?!”
Murong ignores his son’s remark and takes a sip of his coffee. He swirls his coffee mug as he looks at it. “Kwan is a better candidate for running. Why?” He looks up at his children and grandchildren. “She’s better than you all and most hardworking than most of you. Most of you are very useless and talentless. So..why would I bother to choose one of you to be my next successor, hmm?” Everyone couldn’t go against Murong.
Murong turns to Kwan. “My decision. Is it alright with you?” Kwan turns and looks at him. “Yes, Grandfather.” Murong nods in satisfying about her answer.
Kwan studies hard to become the next successor. She often ran into an obstacle which was planned by half of the Murong’s children and grandchildren. Murong banished them from the Xing family. Kwan holds a secret which she didn’t let anyone know.
[Present day – 2 hours later after receiving the report from Saku ]
Kwan arrives at the Xing residence. Saku opens the door for Kwan. Kwan heads inside of the mansion and head to the study room where Grandfather is at. As she reach to the study room, she knocks on the door. Knock. Knock. “Grandfather, it’s me, Kwan.” “Come in.” Kwan opens the door and sees Grandfather wasn’t alone. Grandfather was with a young man. “I’m sorry. I didn’t know you had a guest.” “No, no, actually you came in the right time.” Kwan tilts her head, confused.
“This is Jon Ma, the president of the MaRui.” Kwan looks at the man and bows. “Nice to meet you, Mr. Ma. I am Kwan.” Jon smiles. “No need to speak formalities.” Kwan looks over at Grandfather and he nods. She looks back at Jon. “Then I will call you, Jon. Is that alright?” “Yes.” Kwan looks towards Grandfather. “I heard that you need to see me.” “Yes. Please sit down, Kwan.”
Kwan sits down next to Grandfather, across from Jon. “What is it? Is it your health again?” “No. No. The thing is I made some arrangements.” Kwan listens to Murong. Murong was hestitating of what he wants to say to her. Kwan notices and said; “What are you trying to say, Grandfather?” He looks at her in the eye and said; “I set an arranged marriage for you.” Kwan was speechless but her expression remains calm.
Jon in the other hand couldn’t figure what she’s thinking. Kwan nods slowly and asks; “Who am I marrying to?” Jon cuts in and said, “Me.” Kwan slowly turns to Jon. [So that’s explains why he’s here.] Murong panics and said; “Kwant, I–” “Okay.” Murong and Jon was shocked to hear her fast and quick reply.
“EH? Okay? You’re okay with it?” “Yes.” [Murong took me in and raised me. He did so much for me already. It’s the least I can do. Marriage with someone I don’t know.] “Um. Kwan. I think you should reconsider it.” Kwan stands up. “There’s nothing for me to reconsider. I accept this arranged marriage which you had set up for me.” “K-Kwan.” Murong panics and regrets. “I have other plans so you two can continue to chat.”
Kwan walks out and heads to the bar.
[Present time.]
Kwan sighs. [Marriage, huh? If Grandpa were here, he probably scold Murong about marrying me off. *slightly chuckles* I can imagine that.] She continues to drink, but after a little bit too much, she couldn’t think straight. [Ugh. I drink too much as usual. Let’s call a day.] She sets the cup down and slowly gets up. As she stands up, her head was spinning.
She tries to walk but was about to fall. Someone caught her. “Hey. Are you alright?” She looks up and sees a man. [Who…?] She feels something caught inside of her throat. She puts her hand over her mouth. “Hey. Are you okay?” [Don’t talk to me or else…] She couldn’t hold it in so she let it out. She barf onto the man who was lending a hand.
[Oopsie Daisy. I’ve done it.] Kwan feels refresh but she lost her strength to stand. She fell asleep in the man’s arms. “Sir.” The man lifts his hand up. “It’s fine.” He lifts her and carries her out of the bar. “You’re really too much to deal with, my dear wife.”
…
After chatting with Murong, Jon went to the bar, drinking alone. Soon someone caught his eye; Kwan. Kwan, too was drinking alone. Jon calls a waiter. A waiter comes and assists Jon. “Is she a regular here?” “Yes, she is, Master Jon.” ‘How often does she comes here?” The waiter tilts his head and said; “She’s often here around midnight to one or two.” “Alone?” “Yes, Master Jon.” “Any guys dares to approach her?”
The waiter laughs. “Oh, no. They’re more like afraid of her.” “Afraid?” “She has very high tolerate of handling liquor. She even beat the guys from drinking.” “Is that so?” “Yes.” Jon nods and told the waiter; “Thanks, you may go.” The waiter nods and left Jon alone. Jon just watches Kwan from afar.
Soon he sees her trying to stand up. Jon then takes the last sip of his alcohol and head to Kwan. He caught her on time. “Hey. Are you alright?” Kwan looks up and sees multiple of Jon but she thought she was just seeing things. Jon notices her covering her mouth. He was worried. “Hey. I said are you alright?” BARRRRFFFFFFF. Jon just stands there froze. [You gotta be kidding me.]
He noticed her feeling a bit relief from letting out. A waiter comes and said; “Sir.” Jon lifts his hand and said; “It’s alright. I got it. You may return to your duties.” Jon then lifts her and carries her out of the bar.
Jon takes her inside of his car. Jon hesitates to take her back to the Xing residence due to her drunkness, so he decided to take her to his place. He carries her in his place. “Welcome back, Master Jon.” “Mm.” Jon carries her upstairs and heads to his bedroom. He then slowly set her down on the bed.
He then went to the bathroom to take a quick shower to get rid of the barf. After a while, he damps a wash cloth and wipe her face. She knits her brows together. She was mumbling in her sleep. Jon leans in. “No….no…don’t leave…dad….don’t go….” Jon then place his hand on top of her head and stroke her gently.
He whispered to her ear. “It’s okay, I’m here.”
