Dear Young Master Spare Me Please? - 235 Confession
when the twins gender was announced, madam liu wanted to throw another party. the younger liu couple profusely declined.
but even the excited middle aged lady was refused, it didn’t stop her to send tons of gifts. the gifts came in pairs. one for a boy and one for a girl.
both han meixiu and liu zijian sighed in defeat. they could only accept.
part of their home sweet home then undergone a series of constructions.
a big room was prepared for the twins and a smaller one was constructed adjacent to the master’s bedroom. while the twins would still be babies, they would stay in that small room.
only after few more years, they would move to their own rooms.
after both liu zijian and han meixiu settled the arrangement of the room, the two stayed in the study. from time to time, han meixiu would do little work while liu zijian would review the documents sent to him by his brother.
“jian, what do you usually do during new year?” han meixiu pondered. in a bout few more days, the entire country would celebrate the coming of the new year.
“we normally visit the old liu.” liu zijian answered while his eyes were still stuck on the screen of his laptop.
“you still have grandfather?” in a surprise tone, han meixiu asked. ever since she became part of the liu family, she never heard this grandfather.
“en.” he shortly answered and his fingers moved gracefully hitting the keys on the keyboard as if they were dancing.
“we should go there this time, too?” although she’s not new to family gatherings during new year celebration, han meixiu had conflicted feelings about it.
in zhang family, it was peaceful and festive thus, she enjoyed it even though she didn’t talk that much. but in han family, she was just like a wallflower. she didn’t want to mingle with the other people. after greeting the people she needed to greet, she would normally retreat in a quiet corner.
how about in liu family?
after sending an email to his brother, liu zijian stood up strode towards his wondering wife. her face contained unnecessary worries. a subtle smile appeared on his lips.
“we will stay there for a night. what are you worried about?” he asked after he sat down beside her and carefully took her hand.
“how should i act?”

“just like normal.”
“is there a taboo topic i should avoid? how is your grandfather? is he strict? how about your grandmother? is..” han meixiu suddenly stopped as liu zijian’s face came incredibly closer.
his smiling face that was teasing her made her face flushed pinkish. she wasn’t sure why but she immediately pushed him.
“i am serious!” she said as she pouted.
liu zijian simply caught her pestering arms before he answered.
“there’s nothing to worry about. grandfather might look stern but he’s not unreasonable. as for the old woman, you don’t need to pay attention to her.”
“old woman? not grandmother?”
liu zijian sighed and made his wife leaned on his broad chest.
“she’s not our grandmother.”
liu zijian, even though it’s been quite a long time, he couldn’t forget his father’s words. the one who severely mocked his mother was his grandfather’s second wife.
every time they visit the old liu’s house, they would greet her. but they wouldn’t show any other feelings. they were not warm nor cold.
“she’s the second wife of my grandfather. my father’s mother died when he just started university. my grandfather then remarried two years after. ”
hearing a not s good tone on his voice, han meixiu didn’t ask further.
“how about cousins? aunt? uncles?”
“you don’t need to worry about them. you’re part of our family. nobody will dare to slight you.”
“i just want to act properly to avoid unnecessary conflict.”
“even if you stir trouble, i’m with you. if you don’t like to stay longer we can also leave early. brother long is more than enough to represent us.”
“alright. alright. i’m not going to worry anymore.” han meixiu totally resigned her bothersome thoughts. she also felt that her brother long seemed to be getting abused as time goes by.
while she felt a bit pity, she’s beyond thankful as well. after the two brothers agreed to temporary let liu zilong managed the liu’s business in k country, liu zijian had more time to spent with her.
liu zijian on the other hand was thinking how to make their stay a bit shorter. he could imagine han meixiu’s situation. since, she’s probably the newest member of their family, she would most probably be surrounded by curious and annoying people.
he couldn’t guarantee if all would be harmless as some might really be malicious.
liu couldn’t help but recall the story of his own parents. arm with only her burning and honest feelings, his mother, madam liu, courageously asked his father’s hand in marriage. she actually became a laughing stock of the entire liu family that time.
she was escorted out of the venue and was almost arrested by the police. it was thanks to his father who wasn’t totally heartless that she was escorted back to her own place. if his father didn’t stop their guards, his mother would have spent a night in a prison cell.
“what are you thinking?” han meixiu saw the conflicted gaze liu zijian was giving her.
“it seemed that i didn’t put much effort to get you.”
“so? does it matter?”
“i just feel i should at least do half of what my mom did.”
“mommy yi?” han meixiu’s excitement suddenly perked up after she heard her mother in law’s name.
liu chuckled for a while after he saw her reaction.
“i don’t know the entire details but i’ve heard how mom pursued dad.” liu zijian could recall that every time his parents would celebrate their anniversary, the two would reminisce their past. but the stories weren’t really detailed.
he only found out how much effort his mother placed when he asked her some tips.
for some reason, han meixiu wasn’t surprised. it was as if she’s expecting that it would really be like this.
“she’s admirable.” han meixiu commented after she heard some of her mommy yi’s brave confessions.
“if i think about it, i feel i should have done much more to you.”
“huh?” han meixiu asked.
why was her husband seemed to be competing against his own mother?
“what do you mean?” she wanted to clarify. maybe she was wrong?
“i wanted to court you. but even after doing some research, the result was only satisfactory.”
“court me? when?…” as she tried to recall if there was an instance her husband courted her.
seeing that his wife became confused, he really wanted to burn the result he gathered. although he hasn’t finish doing all on the list, it really seemed they’re not usable anymore.
“let’s have another wedding.”
“huh?” han meixiu left dumbfounded. she was still in the middle of recalling the recent actions of her husband to check when did he do this ‘courting’ thing and now he has another outrageous thought?
“you deserve the best. but i think, i didn’t give you much…” liu zijian continued.
“who said you didn’t? in all honesty, i already received the best of the best. i’m sure i’ll continue to receive it.” she shamelessly declared. her eyes were clearly showing how serious she was when she uttered her words.
the woman in front of him was glaring at him as if she wanted to embed to his bone the words she just said. liu zijian’s expression softened and he gently touched the woman who became agitated.
“meixiu, i love you. but compared to what my mom did when she expressed her feelings, i am obviously standing in the lowest level.” he said as his thumb softly caressed han meixiu’s face.
hearing the sudden confession, han meixiu blushed and bit her lips. she was trying not to smile broadly. her heart was fluttering and her entire being felt like it’s being elevated up into the ninth heaven.
with that kind of adorable reaction, liu zijian couldn’t control himself. he planted a light kiss on her lips and let their forehead rested against each other.
“sometimes, i want to tell the world you are mine. but there are also times i want to keep you away from it so nobody could see you. i’m selfish. aren’t i weird?”
“but jian, i like that you’re being selfish. am i even more weird?”
after a few seconds of silence both of them smiled lovingly to each other before their lips reunited once again.
there was no need for other words to describe what the two were feeling. they didn’t need opinion of other people to understand nor analyze their behavior. the important thing was the two of them tacitly agreed.
and yes, since han meixiu seemed to not totally recall his ‘courting’ effort, liu zijian was more determined to make his action really obvious. thus, if someone would ask his wife, she would definitely remember right away.
