Death : Mystery Unsolved - Chapter 76

She stared at the onlookers, who stared at her. Then sighed and went to their respective room. She stared at Zunaid, who was standing his ground,with bowed head.

“ Where is she?” M asked in frustration.

“ She went outside, right in front of your eyes.” R explained confusedly.

“ Got it.” M replied back.

“ Um… Leadernim. We have eaten our dinner already. It was our tiMe to sleep.” Zunaid explained.

“ But I am hungry.” She spat the words, then made her way towards the kitchen.

After all, only food and sleep can pacify K.

The best part of K. Be it act like a living pig or a dead pig, she can play it all, beautifully. Like she can eat all the food, until and unless it’s tasty. Despite having eaten just a few minutes before.

While she can sleep, like a dead body from eternity to eternity too. Only until and unless, her stomach won’t stop rumbling.

‘Wow, even this girl throws a tantrum.’ That was the thought that rings in Agent P,S and J’s mind.

After one hour,in the lawn area :

Saheeda went outside,to get some fresh air and more precisely to refresh herself and her brain. To regain her strength. But the more she stared at the sky, at the calm environment, the more frustrated she became.

Saheeda just released a frustrated sigh. Then in the end,brought her mobile phone, type a few digits, and dial the number.

As soon as the other side’s bell rang, within seconds it got answered; “Why? Why are you doing this to me ?” she asked, in an almost broken voice.

There was silence on the other end, for a few minutes, but then an experienced, old, familiar voice of a middle-aged man resounded : “Because you can make it right. Only and only you can make it happen,K. I believe in you. The entire agency believes in you.

And I know, you won’t let us down.”

The voice was so gentle, so peaceful,so patient as if coaxing a little stubborn child to eat properly, indulged with love, care, cherish and protection.

K just stared at the starry sky , took a few breaths and said : “But, I can’t. Not, after what happened one year ago.Why not just let M handle and lead it.I can assist her in each and every possible way.” in the most painful , broken voice of her.

“Because, she isn’t even half as good as my ‘Goddaughter’, which is required to lead this mission. K, the world, our country, millions of innocent people and their lives have been held as bait here.

And we both know she isn’t ready yet to face such a critical situation.But if you insist, then I will appoint her . But, if anything happens to her or any innocent person or any agent there.

Then, I will hold you accountable for it.The world will hold you accountable for it. And most importantly, will you be able to forgive yourself. Especially, when you haven’t even ‘moved on’, from the incident that happened one year ago.

Think properly,K. Last time, you almost went berserk. If anything, God forbid, happens this time, then will you be able to forgive yourself,K.

If you need time, then I can give you the time till the UN’s decision announcement, tomorrow morning. But, after that, I need your answer, K.

And I hope you won’t disappoint me or Our Agency or Our Country Or Our World, K.” the patient,calm voice explained from the other side.

“Good night, Murshid.” Saheeda replied and hung up her phone.

No!!!! She didn’t have any answer or explanation or anything that she could provide to her superior, who treats her like his own daughter.

She doesn’t want to lead, she has the reason or maybe past behind it. But, putting M’s life in danger, definitely isn’t in the option either. And, one among them has to lead.

Yes!!!! She will think about it. She needs time.

She turns around to walk inside the house only to see Kai standing at a fair distance, staring at her back. Most probably, he must have heard the entire conversation.

One of the disadvantages of staying with your sworn enemy.You can’t basically put your guards on 24*7, right!! Not especially, when you already have tones to deal with, on your plate.

He didn’t say anything, though. Even his paralysed face, devoid of all emotions, didn’t sell anything to her ,either. He just stood his ground. Neither walking away from her, nor moving an inch towards her.

She couldn’t help but roughly move her hands in her hair and sighed deeply in frustration. Took a few deep breaths to calm herself down. And then, without further waiting; she decided to walk past him, directly to the inside of the house.

She was walking normally,but when she walked past him and was to leave him alone there; he finally spoke up : “You got the opportunity, but you don’t want it. I want the opportunity, but I didn’t get it. Isn’t our condition ironic, agent ?”

She didn’t turn around, just listen to his hopeless comment.She, the ever so proud person,hung her head low,too.

He didn’t turn around either, to see her reaction.He, the ever so high and mighty person, felt like his own agency had tied his hands up. How could he not be hopeless?

“ Because, I don’t think I can do it.” She replied, her hopelessness, clearly visible and audible in her tone and posture. And for the first time,

he felt the heart-wrenching pain which was enveloping her inside out,the real person behind the ever so naive,cute, childish personality of her. A broken, hurt, under-confident, terrified girl. Her true self.

But, he still didn’t turn around to face her. Two agents from two sworn countries.

Two countries, it’s people, it’s agencies, who are sworn enemies of each other, from the time of the Partition.

The Line didn’t just separate two pieces of land, but it’s people too.

And Time, just added the fuel to this fire of hatredness. As with time, their bitterness reaches its peak and they become mortally sworn enemies of each other.

And just like that, these two agents; who belong to these two countries, ultimately become sworn enemies of each other.

If it had been any other mission, or if they have been with any other country or it’s agency, then they might not even have been holding as much guard against each other as much they have to hold, these days against each other.

Even till this very night, Kai had done from anything to everything to give A freaking Hell to this very cute, childish,sweet, naive type of personality.

But, she… he knows from the time they spend together. That she is different. She didn’t hold any prejudice against them. She never judged them for anything.She even maintained peace between the team, by most of the time shutting up or punishing Zunaid.

In fact,she is actually like a cute angel, who doesn’t give a damn to either them or their sworn enmity. She even risked her own life, to bring those three people.. Those three gangsters, to whom no one has touched yet.
