Decisions (Inner Desires Series) - Chapter 12
August 16th, 2015
Things were going okay between the supernaturals and humans. It was slow moving, but most humans were becoming accepting, especially with the help of Raska and Tessmere leading the way. Megael and Edcur had seemed to vanish off the radar, as no one had seen or heard from them since the broadcast. There were some humans that didn’t like the idea of supernaturals, but then there was some supernaturals that didn’t like the idea of humans. At the end of the day, the human world now knew of their existence.
Olivia, Surriey and Alex were all getting jitters, it was their wedding day, they weren’t thinking of the events of last year, they were thinking of the men that would be standing at the end of the aisle, waiting for them. None of them thought that this would ever happen to them. The girls were sure that the boys felt the same way and also had jitters too, but they promised not to leave them alone at the alter. The boys knew they would murder then, so they were not that stupid. Olivia had Darren walking her down the aisle, Raska volunteer to walk Alex down the aisle and Nicolas volunteered for Surriey.
Nicolas was actually in a relationship now, with Nicole. That was a complete shock, when they all found out. A reminder that female werewolves had no choice of who they ended up with and Nicole became bonded to Nicolas. The two of them began to date shortly after the council’s downfall. Humans and supernaturals now only followed human laws. Which was exactly how Dane wanted it. Olivia wished that Dane could be here, wished he could see this wonderful day, but she knew that it would never happen, so she put it out of her mind.
The three women were all in white, each dress different. Alex had the most breast revealing dress, as she like showing off. Her dress was short, just above knee height, she had no straps, which is how she liked it. Surriey was wearing a similar dress, only she had straps and her dress was floor long. Olivia’s dress was knee height at the front, but the back part fell just above the floor. This was their day and nothing was going to ruin it for them.
There was a knock on the door and Darren, along with Nicolas and Raska.
“Are you girls ready?” Darren asked.
“Yes, yes we are,” they said, smiling.
The men took the girl that they were assigned to and headed out to the back yard. Music began to play as they were walked down the aisle to the love of their lives. Once they were handed to their partner, the officiant began his speech and the ceremony started.
When the ceremony was over and the dinner had come to an end, the three couples began their first dance.
“I know this isn’t tradition, but may I cut in,” a male voice asked Shane.
Shane and Olivia looked over at the man who addressed them, and without warning, Olivia threw herself into his arms.
“Dane,” she breathed, “Shane, did you know?”
“Hades forced me to not say anything. He threatened your brothers too,” Shane answered, walking away and finding a seat.
“How? Why?” she asked as the two of them danced.
“Temporarily released on good behaviour,” he chuckled, “I can’t stay long though, I’m not alive.”
“I know. I’m just glad you’re here for this day,” she smiled, hugging him tightly.
“You look beautiful,” he said, twirling her.
“Thank you.”
“Hades said that I should be here for your big day. I stayed hidden until now.”
“I appreciate Hades thinking about me,” she grumbled.
“Hey, it’s not as bad as you think. I hate the bastard, but he is allowing me small rewards.”
“Still, he forces you to sleep with him.”
“Oh, so you did figure that out,” Dane said bashfully.
“Yes.”
“It’s fine, better than torture anyway. At least I’m not straight,” he laughed as the song ended, “Anyway, for now, I say goodbye,” he said before vanishing.
Olivia went to sit next to Shane who had a big smile on his face. He knew that surprise had brightened her day. He also knew that she wished he could stay forever, but that could never happen. Dane was dead, not alive and Hades would never allow him to leave the death realm.
“Thank you,” she finally said.
“You’re welcome. At least you got to dance with him,” he smiled.
“Yes.”
“Having fun, little sorceress?” a voice in Olivia’s head echoed.
“Who is this? What do you want?” she demanded.
“Looks like a fun party, you married that werewolf huh?”
“I repeat, who is this?!”
“Don’t remember ‘Little Sorceress’?”
That struck Olivia like being hit by a car, which had happened to her once. She felt nauseas and dizzy. She couldn’t believe what she was hearing, and worse of all, on the best day of her life. She started to shake, unsure if she could control it or if Shane could see it.
“How?” she asked, knowing her voice sounded frightened.
“Well, it seems no one reads the fine print. You know, only Dane can completely destroy me. I will regain my strength and I will destroy you, your family and everything you ever cared about and the funny thing is, you can’t stop me. Your only savior is dead and there’s no way in hell that Hades will allow him to come back,” Alcatraz laughed, “Another fun fact, you all were told that only he could destroy me completely and yet somehow you forgot this important detail.”
“Oh no, this is ridiculous, there must be a mistake?”
“No mistake, as soon as I am back to full strength, I will be hunting you down!”
Olivia could hear the voice falling into the distance of her head. She hadn’t realized that her siblings were staring at her, or that Shane was calling her name.
“Are you okay?” Shane asked.
“N…no…” she trembled.
“What’s wrong? I know Dane was a big surprise, but I thought you’d like it,” Jacob sighed, wondering if it was a mistake.
“Al…Alcatraz,” she breathed.
“What? What about him?” Shane hissed.
“He’s…he’s back. Not fully, but he will be eventually and we have no chance against him,” she said, starting to tear up.
“We defeated him last time, we’ll do it again,” Demon smiled, but then his smile faded when Olivia looked at him, “What?” he asked, more serious.
“Only Dane can. We can kill him over and over, but only Dane can completely destroy him; that’s what Alcatraz said and unfortunately, we all forgot about this detail too. We said it at the beginning and never really went through with it.”
“No, seriously?” Jacob asked.
“Dane didn’t use his blood to summon him, did he?” Shane asked.
“No, Dane used my blood for the summoning. He used his hair to control the demon,” Demon answered.
“I doubt it. Now what do we do?” Olivia asked.
“Start begging Hades,” Shane shivered.
“Why?” Jacob inquired.
“Well, without Dane, we’re fucked. Dane is the only one what can completely destroy Alcatraz at this point,” Shane answered, “Dane is dead, which means he’s useless in the realm of the living. So, to destroy Alcatraz, we need Dane alive not dead.”
“So, we just get him back, he destroys Alcatraz and then goes back,” Demon said.
“Not that easy. We would need to resurrect Dane, which I don’t know anyone who can. The other problem, Hades would never allow it. If Dane is brought back to life, Hades loses control of him. Dane hates Hades, which means he will never want to go back, but Hades will want him back, unless there is some way of making a deal we can stand by, Hades won’t do a damn thing. The only one that can make that deal is Dane,” Shane finished.
“Great, now what do we do?” Olivia sighed.
“We can’t do much until Alcatraz re-surfaces,” Shane answered.
“And who knows when that will be,” Demon growled.
“Depending on how weak he is, it could take years. At the end of the day, we just have to live life like normal until something happens. Who knows, maybe by then, Alcatraz will be different and not hellbent on killing,” Shane said, slightly laughing.
“I doubt that. The bastard was pissed when Olivia stabbed him, I seriously doubt he’ll play nicely with us when he returns,” Jacob sighed, “Although, the thought of him becoming good would be nice.”
“You just never know,” Olivia said, smiling.
“At least Dane wasn’t here when Alcatraz spoke to you. Hades would have a fit if Dane didn’t return when he was supposed to,” Shane grumbled.
“You really don’t like Dane, do you?” Olivia asked.
“Not in the least, and no matter how long he stays in the Underworld, I doubt my feelings will ever change when it comes to him.”
“That’s unfortunate, he’s not as bad as you think he is,” Demon sighed, “He may have done some foolish things, but, if he didn’t do them, someone far worse may have done them eventually and many more lives would have been destroyed. Dane and Alcatraz only ended two humans lives and two supernatural lives. I say, that pretty lucky.”
“I don’t really care. Can we get back to the happy day now?” Shane asked, a little annoyed at the conversation.
“Yes, let’s continue our happy day,” Olivia agreed, getting up and going to dance with Dixie.
