Decisions (Inner Desires Series) - Chapter 9
Four more days had passed since the attack at Rolley Lake, Jacob was released from the hospital and everyone that now resided in Olivia’s home were beginning to panic. Raska, Tessmere, Ruby, Edcur, Sarjen and Megael were all constantly arguing amongst each other while Jacob, Nicole, Alex, Demon, Surriey, Shane and Olivia listened to their annoyance. Olivia and her brothers had tried to mention some comments a couple of times, but were either shot down or talked over. The worst of it was, Tessmere and Sarjen kept trying to get at each others throat, literally. Since the two of them had bad blood history, Olivia understood why, but these council members were wasting time. Since the letter was sent, it had been nine days, there was only six days left to figure out a plan and all these council members were doing, was arguing. Olivia was really starting to get annoyed. The problem was, her and her brothers knew Dane more than anyone here and they were trying to give the council advice, but they just were not listening. Olivia didn’t care who these people were, they could be Hades himself and she wouldn’t care. She opened their house to them and they were not doing a very good job at saying thank you. She was done with this crap,
“Hey assholes! I have had quite enough of your arguing and so have the rest of us!” Olivia screamed, causing everyone in the room to jump back and become silent, “All you have been doing is arguing and not listening to a damn thing we’re trying to tell you! At the end of the day, my brothers and I know Dane much more than any of you! You are going to listen to what we have to say or I will personally kick the lot of you out and bid you the rest of your lives!” she snapped angerly.
“Um, we’re not assholes…” Sarjen started.
“Oh, you most certainly are! This whole thing started because of your stupid rules between humans and supernatural!” Nicole hissed.
“Excuse me? Those rules are there to protect humans,” Megael said.
“No. I originally was a human several days ago, before Alcatraz attacked the coffee shop I worked at. Olivia, Surriey and Shane had no choice but to reveal who they were to protect me. Further more, to protect me from the lot of you, I agreed to become a werewolf, which by the way I don’t regret!” Nicole growled, “I’ve known about supernatural existence since I was young when my family was killed by a rogue and another supernatural saved me.”
“Revealing ourselves to humans is against supernatural laws,” Ruby began.
“Exactly! You going to punish us for protecting a human? Or did you want us to let her die?!” Surriey hissed, “We were not willing to make that sacrifice, so we chose to protect her!”
“Your stupid rules are the reason we’re in this mess!” Olivia snapped, “I am shocked that the name ‘Dane’ is not ringing any bells Megael! ‘Dane Bowen’?”
“Nope,” he answered dryly.
Olivia used her magic and conjured a piece of paper in her hand and began to read the words written on it:
“Dear Mr. Bowen, we appreciate your success in all grades and all academics, however, this does not mean that you can apply to any job that you like. There is a strict ‘NO LIFE SAVING JOBS’ rule among the supernaturals and therefore we cannot accept your submission to the police academy. Please refrain from applying to any life saving jobs in the future. Sincerely, Megael, head of the supernatural council of law,” Olivia finished the letter, than glared at Megael, “You sent this letter to my brother, a shifter who was not raised under the laws of supernaturals, although you would have known that had you done your research, which you did not. Your letter changed my brother that day and it is because of you that he is doing what he is doing, just not the right way!” she hissed, slamming the letter on Megaels chest.
“Wait? Not raised under our laws? What do you mean?” Sarjen asked with a soft voice, more to keep Olivia from screaming than anything.
“We were adopted out of an animal rescue when we were four months old. Two months later, we shifted and the humans that had adopted us, not only continued to raise us as their own, never breathed a word about what we were. They have a son that is a year older than us and he also stayed in secrecy. If it wasn’t for those humans, we might have died. The human that found us in the truck, he fed us before taking us to the animal rescue,” Jacob confessed, “Fang has known our adopted parents our entire lives and he would bet his life on them because they are so caring towards anyone, no matter who they are.”
“That’s also against the law,” Ruby started.
“You guys only care about the laws, not about how humans or supernaturals feel! What is wrong with you all?! The only ones that seem to give a shit is Tessmere and Raska! Raska told our parents to stay away for a while because he knew what you idiots would do!” Demon snapped, getting out of his seat, “Olivia’s right! This would have never happened had the rules been different or you did you research and dealt with our brother a little more delicately! Because of all of you, he chose a path that has condemned him to the Underworld!”
“I’m actually wondering why you’re not bartering for that not to happen,” Megael admitted.
“We’ve already been told by Shane and Dane that it’s pointless. Hades owns Dane and that can’t be undone,” Olivia growled, with a hint of sadness in her voice, “So, there is no point.”
“You all, can take your rules and shove them where the sun doesn’t shine, because if you think my brother, sister or me are going to listen to them, you got another thing coming!” Jacob snapped.
“Why you…” Ruby started, but Megael stopped him in his tracks.
“Unfortunately, unless Venus steps in, we cannot do anything about this. At the end of the day, they can break the rules, but would face consequences from the Roman pantheon, if they chose to punish them and I doubt Venus will let them,” Megael growled.
“Are you kidding me?” Ruby hissed.
“No, I’m not. They may be supernaturals, but they are also demigods. They can choose to follow the laws if they wish.”
“What does this mean for Dane?” Alex asked.
“Same thing as before. Venus is not stupid enough to piss off Hades. This incident is beyond our rules now. Dane had summoned a demon from Tartarus, and that’s Hades jurisdiction. He’s furious enough that a demon was summoned, but his flames went from blue to red when he realized what demon had been summoned to the mortal world,” Megael explained, “However, we do need to stop Dane from exposing us, because using that demon, will only further human fear, not make them accepting.”
“At least on that point, we agree,” Olivia said.
“What does that boy plan to do anyway?” Edcur asked.
“His plan was to prove you morons wrong about your rules,” Olivia said.
“Can we quit with the name calling?” Edcur inquired.
“Nope, because as much as we’re in agreement on Dane and his plan, none of us like any of you or your stupid rules that have never been changed or adjusted in I don’t know…NEVER,” Olivia hissed, “This is the twenty-first century, humans are a lot more kind and accepting than back in pioneer days. In medieval times, supernatural were accepted, but then things changed and rules had to be made to protect humans, but now, humans read fantasy books and supernatural stories about us. In high school, I used to listen to classmates talking about how they wish they could meet a vampire or a werewolf and learn about them through that being’s experience. Humans want to know about us, except, your stupid rules prevent that from happening.”
“You can’t be serious,” Sarjen said.
“She is, I’ve heard them too,” Alex confirmed, “Olivia and I have been friends for years. We lost touch after graduating, but she isn’t joking.”
“I need some air. Jacob, Demon, please come with me,” Olivia growled.
The three of them headed out the front door and Olivia slammed it behind her. She was done with the council and their stupid ‘but the rules’ gimmick. It was driving her insane and she was sure it was bothering Jacob and Demon just as equally. She knew that they needed to stop Dane, she knew that she could barter for his life. She knew all this, but what she wanted, was some sign, some hope that the council would finally understand and change the laws, even just a little to allow some freedom. So far, she believed that they were a bunch of morons who were not interesting in changing or touching the rules. This frustrated her as her and her brothers just spilt their life story to them about how they felt about humans and their thoughts on the whole matter. However, it didn’t seem to matter, in fact, it made the council more annoyed and angrier that humans knew about them. This did not sit well with Olivia, and in some degree, she kind of hoped that Alcatraz would kill some of them, just for being stupid.
Olivia did notice that Edcur wasn’t really saying much and something told her he had something to live for and therefore didn’t want to fight or argue. It was mainly Megael, Sarjen and Ruby that were being argumentive. Olivia did pick up on these things, so she figured Edcur had someone back at home that he cared about. She also thought that because Edcur was an immortal human, that he did understand the human side of it a lot more than the others did.
Olivia and her brothers had walked a fare bit way from the house and Olivia noticed the expressions in Jacob and Demon’s faces had changed from frustrated to a little calmer, now that they were not in the house.
“Wait!” a voice called.
The three of them looked back to see Edcur running up to them.
“What do you want?” Jacob sourly asked.
“Easy. I’m on your side. Outside of my meetings with the leaders of the humans, our conversations due tend to steer towards ‘when is old Megael ever going to change the laws’ all the time. The human leaders know about us because they have to. I’ve told Megael about this, but he seems like he will never budge. It’s going to take a miracle to change that man’s mind. Ruby and Sarjen both follow his lead, but it appears that Tessmere and Raska are following yours.”
“What does that mean?” Olivia asked.
“It means it’s a split tie if we were to vote on it.”
“Who breaks the tie?” Demon asked.
“Well, there’s where you are lucky. The only one that is allowed to give a vote if ever there is a tie, is Shane Carmichael and it seems he is also in agreement with you. Unfortunately, the next voting meeting is six months from now and things will change, but in the meantime, we need to stop Dane.”
“No, we need him to kill Alcatraz and then he will accept his fate. What we need to do right now, is find him and tell him what is going on. The one time we met with him was at the hospital, but we haven’t seen him since,” Olivia explained, “I tried to go look for him, but that failed. I was attacked by Alcatraz and you lot scared him off. I’m not sure what chased him off at Rolley Lake though.”
“That is a mystery,” Edcur agreed.

Dane, Alcatraz and Blaze were no longer at the hotel as Alcatraz had caused to many scenes for the hotel to be safe. Now they were hiding in an abandoned house, nestled away in the back of Mission. Alcatraz was furious, Dane had clammed chains on him, to prevent in from leaving or doing anything else. Olivia and Jacob had told him what happened with the coffee shop and Dane had caught him red handed going after his sister on the streets and both his siblings in the woods at Rolley Lake. Dane wasn’t dumb, so he put the chains on to prevent from further attacks until the 15th, when he needed Alcatraz.
“This is stupid!” Alcatraz bellowed.
“Well, if you had listened, you wouldn’t be chained,” Blaze mocked.
“We did that bastard run off to now?” Alcatraz asked.
“Don’t know, didn’t ask.”

Dane was furious with Alcatraz. As soon as he put the chains on him, he bolted out the door to cool off. He still needed Alcatraz for a few more days. The chains didn’t come easy, he had to barter with Hades to get them, more like, allow Hades to toy with him again, but at least Alcatraz was more under control now. Dane had not realized that the demon he summoned, would start targeting his own family; that didn’t sit well with Dane. The sooner the 15th came, the better. He would kill Alcatraz and he, himself, would be sent to the Underworld to be Hades sex toy for the rest of eternity. For some reason, that didn’t sound as bad as it did at the beginning. Dane shook that thought out of his head, of course it was bad, then again, his body liked the attention even if he did not.
Hades was the only one that knew about that secret. Most people didn’t have a problem coming out of the closet, but there was one big issue with Dane coming out, there had never been a supernatural in history, that was gay. Dane was the first and he wasn’t just a supernatural, he was a shifter, sorcerer, and a werewolf as well as a demigod. The thought of meeting a god who seemed gay, made Dane feel better actually. He had never realized that gods could go gay if they decided to. Danes human friend that was in Ontario, was also gay. He was the only other one aside from Hades that knew, but his friend didn’t know about his supernatural side.
Danes life was a complete wreck and at the end of the day, he did blame himself, but he also blamed the council. It was mainly because of them that he chose this path. He knew that their voting meeting was in six months and his attack on the 15th, he hoped would change their minds about the rules and have them change them so that supernatural were treated the same as humans.
“You look like your deep in thought,” someone said, wrapping their arms around Danes waist.
“What do you want Hades?” he asked, trying to pull away.
“You made an agreement for those chains,” he scoffed, dipping his hand under the waistline of Dane’s jeans, cupping him.
“Now?” Dane asked, trying not to show he liked it.
“When else?”
“How about in five days when I’m nothing but yours?”
“Can I ask you a question?”
“What would that be Dane?” he asked, unzipping Danes jeans and wrapping his free hand around Dane’s penis.
“Did you know I was Venus’s grandson?”
“Yes.”
“Will I ever be allowed to see my family again?” he asked, his voice cracking.
“Hmm…maybe if you’re a good sex slave to me,” he answered coldly.
“In that case…I’ll try my best,” Dane sighed.
“That’s a good slave,” Hades said, a huge grin crossing his face.
Hades toyed with Dane for a few more minutes until Dane released.
“I shall see you in five days,” he said quietly in Danes ear.
“Five days,” Dane quietly repeated, watching Hades vanish.
