DEMON KING ASCENSION SYSTEM - Chapter 257 Arriving At The Main Base
Chapter 257 Arriving At The Main Base
Three humanoid demons with fairly humanoid appearance other than the horns on their forehead and their reddish colored bodies, stood a distance away behind the opened gate, doing nothing but staring outside the gate as if they already knew that someone was coming to them.
Blake didn’t know what he should do in this situation since he had never expected the humanoid demons would wait for him right near their doorsteps with their gate wide open.
Blake was prepared for a chaotic war where he, Robus, and Cyra needed to run amok and destroy as many things as possible in their sights while trying to fight the humanoid demons living inside the base, similar to what they had been doing for the past two times they ever visited a humanoid demon base.
“What should we do?” Blake asked the demons walking beside him. It was his merit to have a group with him, and he shouldn’t be deciding everything alone. Moreover when there was a humanoid demon that had way more experience than him in the group.
“Just burst through the front gate,” Vera instantly replied when she heard Blake’s question.
Being a runemaster herself, of course, Vera was someone who was cautious whenever she was doing anything. She even made up an isolated space in the first demon realm to secure her home despite the fact that she could just easily create several rune formations as a defense mechanism to fend off the demonic beasts that wandered too close to her home.
However, right now, she knew that hers and Blake’s enemies were demons from the deeper realm, demons that had somewhat similar circumstances to her, having to seal their power lest they wanted to slowly weaken their evolved bodies and soon die in the realm where they weren’t meant to live in.
As a fellow sealed demon, she knew how much of their original strength was sealed and how much stronger Blake and his group were for demons that had just undergone their evolution.
They were certainly not as strong as demons from the actual second realm, and it made sense considering they had just evolved. But compared to the demons in the first realm, their strength was certainly at the peak, towering even the demons that had their powers sealed like hers and the other humanoid demons from the second realm.
Well, at least it’s only in terms of raw strength since the demons in the second realm might have more familiarity with how demons fought with each other and an overall richer experience in terms of how a fight would go down.
That difference would be very valuable and it could be a matter of life and death if the demons came from the same realm as Vera’s realm where the demons there had led the expeditions to conquer other worlds and command thousands or even hundreds of thousands of demons.
But in the second realm, which was most likely where the humanoid demons that they currently had to face belonged from, it shouldn’t be that much of a difference in battle experience considering the native demons from the first realm, Robus, and Cyra, needed to claw their way up by eating hundreds of souls before finally evolving.
The demons from the second realm acted mostly as cannon fodders in the war in the other worlds, and they mostly fought weaker humans, with the rare occasions of stronger humans that could fight and defeat many demons at once.
Well, that would only be the case if the humanoid demons Blake and his group were currently facing were all natives of the second demon realm. If all of them had also come from the first demon realm and clawed their way down to the second realm, then it would be another story.
But still, for someone like her, she wouldn’t be reckless enough to suggest Blake to do anything that might endanger his life. If the humanoid demons proved to be tougher than usual, of course, Vera had her own plans to make sure Blake and his little demon group would not be losing their lives.
Hence her answer, “Just burst through the front gate.”
And it didn’t seem that Vera was the only one who thought like that.
“Rr.”
“Let’s just throw some fireballs at them, brother!”
Hearing the enthusiastic and almost instant reply of his friends, of course, Blake didn’t need to think about anything else too much other than doing some preparations just in case the worst came to happen.
“Let’s go then,” Blake nodded his head as he led the way straight towards the opened up front gate, his hands already rummaging through his pouch, making sure that he got every position of rune formations properly and only a quick split second search away.
And of course, he didn’t forget about finalizing his choice about the spell that he wanted to store in his floating black ball, the one that he got from Cyra’s bloodline power.
With Blake and the others walking straight toward the opened gate, it didn’t take long for them to finally get close enough that their eyes and the three humanoid demons’ eyes were staring at each other.
There was still quite a distance between the two sides, but with their superior physique that had also enhanced their senses, seeing clearly, almost in detail from 100 meters away was not a feat that was too hard to achieve.
Without breaking their eye contact with each other, Blake and the group walked closer and closer until they finally stopped right in front of the opened gate. Only a dozen meters away from the three humanoid demons that stood still ever since the moment Blake was aware of their presence.
While standing, Blake and Vera scanned their surroundings, exerting their sense out as far and strengthening it as sensitively as they could, particularly their ability to sense the movement of nether to make sure that they didn’t walk inside a trap and lost the ability to get out before it was too late.
But even after checking for 5 whole seconds, they didn’t feel anything other than subtle movements of the three humanoid demons standing in front of them.
“I guess you guys wouldn’t just let us pass through and go to the portal to the next realm considering you three are standing in our way?” Blake first asked when he saw that the humanoid demons were not saying anything.
“I would like to give you a proposal,” A scrawny humanoid demon that Blake had never seen before said as he began muttering something that was inaudible to Blake.
Although the gesture seemed very familiar to the same one Blake had seen the flying humanoid demon do before when he asked Blake to sign what was essentially a slave contract, Blake kept his guard up and didn’t dare to assume anything as the scrawny humanoid demon spoke.
Out of the three humanoid demons that were currently standing in front of Blake and his group, Blake only noticed one humanoid demon. And that was the muscular humanoid demon. The one that he almost killed before in the second humanoid base, but escaped at the very last moment due to his own carelessness.
He did defeat the muscular humanoid demon rather quickly. But if Blake had to fight the muscular humanoid demon for the second time, with the latter now knowing his capabilities, Blake was sure that the fight wouldn’t be decided as quickly as before.
He did also learn more about the muscular humanoid demon, knowing that he had the ability to paralyze anyone’s body that had been hit by his punches, kicks, or any kind of attacks from his body.
But exploiting it would be harder compared to what the muscular humanoid demon could do with the information that Blake was a runemaster that could sink the earth and constrict his enemies with darkness tendrils.
Moreover, it took Blake, Cyra, and Robus working together to be able to defeat him before. It would certainly be different now that their bodies had grown stronger and they also had new abilities, but that didn’t mean that they could just defeat the muscular humanoid demon with a few simple waves of their hands like they defeated the native demons from the first demon realm.
Blake still remembered how hard it was to catch the muscular humanoid demon in his trap and how dangerous it was for him to get careless and receive a solid hit from the muscular humanoid demon which not only sent him flying but also paralyzed his whole body for a good while.
If not for Cyra and the incoming necromancer’s horde, then Blake certainly wouldn’t get off so easily after receiving that initial hit from the muscular humanoid demon.
And that was only the muscular humanoid demon alone. Now, there were two additional demons that Blake knew nothing about. One looked scrawny but wore enough accessories in his hands and neck that he looked like a rich grandpa. Another one had a thin figure with bone swords in his hands. n0𝑽ℯ𝗅𝑢𝕊𝕓.𝑐0𝑀
Blake’s close observation of his soon to be enemies was interrupted as he suddenly felt nether gathering right in front of him. It was rather sudden, but Blake had already somehow anticipated it.
At first, he was ready to cast in his darkness barrier, but after remembering what he thought before and feeling the same vibes from the gathered nether as the one that he felt back then, Blake calmed down as a rolled parchment appeared out of thin air, spreading itself out, letting Blake and the group see the contents written inside it.
