Demon Legacy - Chapter 15 The Elite Class
Kaden stopped zoning out as he heard the dean mention class allocations. This was what he had been waiting for.
“You should have all recieved a notification on your coms.”
Kaden held up his arm and took a look. Indeed there was a notification, telling him he had a message pending.
Opening the message, a virtual card popped up with his name, picture and some other information. His eyes scanned the card quickly, searching for the one thing that mattered.
He found his class placement right on the bottom of the card. It read out 1-Elite, signifying that he was a first year and in the Elite class.
He breathed out a sigh of relief. As expected, he had made it.
“This message includes your student ID, which includes the class you’ve been assigned to.” The dean explained the contents of the message.
“As for the test rankings. Leaderboards are present in the 1st year hallway. You can take a look at them there.”
To the dean, leaderboards were one of the most important aspects of education. If the kids could see how others were ranking, it would give them a goal to aim for. The fiercer the competition, the better results the academy would produce.
“I’m sure that some of you are unsatisfied with your placement. All I can tell you is that if you work hard, you’ll have a chance to change it. Likewise, the students in the Special and Elite classes can’t be satisfied with their current achievements. If you decide to relax and take it easy now, someone more motivated than you will snatch your spot.”
The dean decided to light a fire under the students right away. Giving them a warning like this would make all the students work harder. The high ranking students would fear and seek to defend their rank. The lower ranked students would have to work even harder if they wanted to steal a spot.
Naturally he was the one who benefited the most from the competition between students. It wasn’t by chance that he was the dean of the best student academy in the entire Federation. Just like the students, he couldn’t relax either.
“Now that everyone knows their class, your homeroom teachers will take you to your classrooms.” The dean left the stage, leaving the teachers to take care of the students.
Getting up from his seat, Kaden quickly found the teacher in charge of his class. All the teachers stood next to holograms that announced their class.
By the time he got over there a bunch of other students were already standing around the teacher.
Students went up to the teacher who put a marked down their attendance one by one.
After getting marked, Kaden took a glance at the other students standing around him. In truth he looked down on his fellow classmates. In his eyes, none of them could be his match.
They were in the same class, but they had gotten here by very different means. He was fairly certain that none of them could rival him whether it was in terms of combat or cultivation realm.
After making sure everyone was there, the teacher led them to their classroom.
Inside of the classroom, the students found a seat and sat down. There was no assigned seats, students could just sit wherever they wanted to.
Kaden had found a seat in the back of the classroom. Since he wasn’t here to learn the traditional subjects, it seemed pointless to sit in front so he had a good view. It was better to sit in the back where the teacher would pay him less attention.
“My name is Arron Zechiel. I will be your homeroom teacher for the next three years.” The teacher wrote his name down on the digital board as he introduced himself.
“I will be in charge of your traditional education. Your combat training and physical education will be handled by another teacher.”
Kaden couldn’t help but rejoice at that information. From his perspective, Arron looked incredibly dull and didn’t give off any strong aura. It’d be boring if that man was supposed to teach him martial arts.
At this point a student put his hand up to ask a question.
“Yes?” Arron pointed to the student.
The student stood up from his seat before asking his question, “What about extra subjects?”
“How your extra subjects will be handled depends on the specific subject. You should already be able to see your schedule via your com. The location and time of your classes can all be found on there. If you’re unable to find it on your own, your com is capable of giving precise directions to any location within the academy grounds. Does that answer your question?”
“Yes teacher.” The student answered respectfully and sat back down.
Unlike the student asking the question, Kaden didn’t even have to worry about finding his way around. Only a few of his classes were going to take place outside the classroom, those classes were combat training and physical education.
“Are there any other questions?” Arron asked, sweeping his eyes around the room.
None of the students raised their hand.
“No? Okay, I’ll start the lesson now then.”
It was their first day but they were already jumping straight into math. In the back row Kaden sighed. He was glad that he had made the decision to sit in the back.
