Demonborn - 13 XII
I was left in stunned silence after Week left my room. I had a promised because I was a demon, but what did that make Lizzie to me? Being with her just felt…right, but being here and Week taking care of me also just sounded right.
I dropped backwards onto my bed and the tears started falling. I hated all of this. I just wanted Lizzie back here with me. I wanted to go home to Angel, Levi, and Kai. I pulled my knees up to my chest and began to think. I needed to get out of here, but I didn’t know the way to the door, then it hit me. I had a window in this room with me, I could get put that way.
I got up from the bed and tried the window, and it slid open easily. I looked down then noticed the drop from here. I wouldn’t survive that even if I used my power.
I sighed and closed the window, deciding to walk around and explore the house. As I walked down the stairs, I noticed the downstairs was open and every wall was glass. I stared out and watched the sunrise through the window. I felt a presence appear next to me, but I ignored him as I stared enchanted by the view.
“This side of the house is positioned over a cliff, giving an amazing view over the rest of the woods. It’s amazing, isn’t it, Rosie girl?”
I flinched at the nickname. I then turned on my heel and stomped away, hearing Week chuckle in the room behind me. Then I saw it, the door. I looked and noticed that he was busy on his phone so I made a run for it. I got outside and started running through the woods, feeling safe and free for the first time. The forest around me was dark and a light started peeking out from between the trees in front of me. I ran for it then collapsed onto the ground.
“Having fun, Rosie girl?” I heard and looked up. Week stood in front of me and behind him stood the house I had just run from. I stood up and ran back through the forest. I ended back up in the clearing, and I did it a few times, taking different directions. Every time I tried to escape through the woods, I always ended back in the clearing with the house and Week. This time when I ended back, Week was sitting on the porch swing, watching me and laughing as I tried to get out. Then I looked over to the edge of the cliff opposite from me.
“Rose? Whatever you’re thinking, stop thinking it,” a warning came, Week standing up in alarm as I made a run for the cliff. As I hit the edge, I heard Week’s panicked screams as I jumped.
Falling is a scary sensation, it’s like you’re free until you remember that you’re going to die at the end. Looking at the top of the cliff, I saw Week at the top, his cheeks looked glittery with tears as he watched me fall. As I watched him, I waited for the impending impact.

A pair of children laid out on a rock. The lake below them was clear and you could almost see all the way to the bottom in the whole thing. A girl started to laugh as the boy next to her smiled. They were watching the clouds and talking about what they saw.
“Hey, Week,” the girl started, “do you ever wonder if my mom wanted me?”
The boy paused and sat up to look at her. Her silver hair was splayed out around her like a halo. Her eyes had started to glow a soft silver and her face held pure sadness in its depths.
“Of course she wanted you, Rosie girl. Who wouldn’t want you?” he asked her, reaching over and grabbing her hand, trying to offer her comfort.
Rose was a girl who could only get comfort by physical touch. Words couldn’t break past her mental walls, but she would melt and relax into the touch, no matter who it was. She pulled her hand away and sat up, wrapping her arms around her legs.
“She left me here, Week. What kind of mother does that? Definitely not one who wants her daughter,” at this point, tears started falling down her face.
Week thought he felt his heart break seeing her like this. It truly hurt and he wanted to just hide her and protect her from the world and himself in that moment. He hated her being left in the dark, but it was necessary to keep her safe here with Angelina and Levi.
“A mother how felt that you would be safer here instead of with her.” Rose turned her head to him in stunned silence, feeling a war inside begin to grow, wishing it to fall silent.

A scream rang out in Rose’s apartment in the dead of night as she woke up in tears. The nightmares had gotten worse and she wished they would just go away.
She picked up her phone and dialed the one person who would always answer her.
“Rose? Is everything okay?” A sleepy voice sounded on the other end of the call.
“Lizzie, can you come over please?” Rose said, between sobs. The war had only grown louder and she wished she could silence its pounding.
“Of course, Rose. Just listen to my voice, okay? Breathe with me,” Lizzie started and then talked Rose through breathing. This was almost every night and Lizzie never minded, and she would always drop whatever she was doing and run to Rose’s side.
“Come open the door, Rose, I’m here, okay?”
Rose dropped her phone to her bed and ran to the door, throwing it open. At the sight of Lizzie, she jumped into her arms and let Elizabeth hold her. Physical touch always calmed her down and Lizzie was always willing to deliver.
Elizabeth carried a half-asleep Rose to her bed and laid her down, crawling up next to her. She pulled Rose to her chest and rested her chin on Rose’s head as her breathing evened out. Lizzie began playing with her hair and whispering to the girl. She smiled and felt Rose’s firm grip on her shirt loosen and heard the girl’s light snores.
Lizzie let out a giggle and kissed Rose’s forehead before settling into the bed and closing her eyes.
“Lizzie… Rosie loves Lizzie….” a voice broke through the comfortable silence and startled Lizzie as she recognized the voice as Rose’s. She looked down at the girl and smiled at the peace on her face.
She placed another light kiss to her forehead and closed her eyes again, willing sleep to come.
“Lizzie loves Rosie too.”
