Weeks had passed since Lizzie left the house and it seemed peaceful. I hadn’t seen Week in the same amount of time that Lizzie had been gone, but Marissa had started training me. Everyday, she pushed me to my breaking point then pushed a little harder. Today, she had me running around the area of the house until I had puked in the grass.
“Keep pushing, Rose! I know you can still go further than that!” she had yelled at me and I continued. I had passed out before she finally carried me to bed.
As I started to focus on my surroundings, I noticed Week sitting on the chair next to the bed, staring at me. I jumped up and he jumped back, surprised I was awake.
“Sorry, Rosie girl, I’ll leave,” he said, bowing at the waist before retreating to the door.
“Wait, Week!” He paused at my words and turned to me. His eyes flashed a silver as he looked at me. “You can stay for a little bit.”
He nodded. He slowly made his way back to the chair and sat down, caution written all over his face as he did so. He stared at the ground, his eyes switching between a soft silver and a vibrant red as he thought. Slowly, he opened his mouth to say something before snapping it shut.
“What’s on your mind, Week?” I said, snapping him back into focus. His eyes finally chose to be red in that moment before he sucked in a breath.
“I’m sorry.”
“For what?”
“For what happened with Lizzie,” he started and paused when I quickly took a breath. The wounds were still fresh seeing as it was so recent, and it still hurt. Tears pricked my eyes and I carefully wiped them away, looking back at him and signaled him to continue. “These past few weeks, I’ve had a piece of your powers in me. Whatever you feel, I could feel it too. I felt your heart breaking, Rose. And it’s my fault.”
I stared at him and nodded, agreeing with him on that point.
“I could feel your hurt, your anger, and your confusion. It broke me apart, tearing down the cold soldier I built myself up to be. And I’m sorry.”
“I’m just broken, Week. I don’t understand what had changed.”
“She found out she had a promised out there, Rose. She thinks she’s more in love now then she was with you, but she’s wrong. I’ve never seen her act the way she did when she wanted to protect you.”
I looked down at the bedding, holding in the emotions like I had been taught to do. Holding it in prevented the storms from starting. Week looked at me and asked permission with his eyes. I nodded at him and he moved to the bed slowly, sitting next to me and grabbing one of my hands, giving it a light squeeze.
“She loved you, Rose. She still does, she just doesn’t want to admit it to herself now that she knows that she has someone out there waiting for her. It’s not fair, and I would give you to Lizzie a thousand times if it would heal the hurt.”
“Why did she chose to run away from me?”
“She’s scared of what you mean to her. She thinks she’s not allowed to have feelings for anyone but her promised. I don’t think that she’s right on that. I had always thought that promised were meant to be together, that you would be perfect and without faults. I wanted to be perfect for you, yet I know that I’m not. I know you’re not, either, Rosie girl, don’t get me wrong, yet I chose to love you through your faults. And because of my love for you, if that’s what this is, I’m willing to let you go.”
I stared at him confused. His face was sad, but sincere.
“Father and Mom already know that I’m taking you home. I’m taking you the day after tomorrow.” His voice was light and heard a lot of sadness. I squealed and jumped into his arms, feeling extreme excitement for what I was just told. He tensed up and slowly relaxed, hugging me back softly.
“Thank you, thank you, thank you!” I said, practically jumping off the bed. He pushed me away from him and held out a small box wrapped in brightly colored paper. The bow on top was bright red, that was very different from the neon pink of the paper.
I looked up at him, seeing joy written on his face. “What are you waiting for? Open it, Rosie.”
I opened it to see a phone box. Inside, was one of the newest phones on the market. The case already on it was white with rose petals across the back. I unlocked the phone and saw all the messages and all my contacts from my old phone. I looked up at him with question written in my eyes.
“I broke your phone when I took you. I felt with you going back, you should have some way of contacting your friends. Your apartment was paid for, and this phone is free. Orion pays for it. My number was put in there, for emergencies,” he said, standing up and walking to the door, pulling it open and turning back to me. He smiled and his eyes started glowing silver. He turned and shut the door after that. I opened the group and started to read the messages that had gone back and forth.
[Heavenly Group Chat]
To you, My Angel, Lovely❤️, Gay Boi, Fudge bar dealer
My Angel: Nothing again today?
Gay Boi: No, nothing from Elizabeth either
Fudge bar dealer: This sucks! How could she do that to Rose?!
Gay Boi: Who knows.
Lovely❤️: I did it to leave.
My Angel: And you broke her apart to save her?
My Angel: You’re such a bitch!
I winced as I read Angel’s words. I’ve never heard her cuss, let alone call anyone unkind things. The group went on to them trying to get information out of Lizzie, just for her to avoid it. I, then, opened her contact and decided to change it. I changed it to “Elizabeth” and went back to text the group.
You: I’m fine, guys. Please relax
My Angel: Thank God!
My Angel: Where have you been, Rosie? ????
You: Don’t worry, I’m unharmed and I’m coming home in a few days.
Elizabeth: Why would you leave there?
You: Because I want to and Week is taking me home.
Gay Boi: WEEK?!
Gay Boi: Why is he there?!
You: Because he’s the one who took me, now he’s taking me home, got a problem, Levi?~ ????
Gay Boi: No, none
Fudge bar dealer: Why are you thanking me, Angel?
Fudge bar dealer: I didn’t do anything
My Angel: ????
I giggled and turned off my phone after that. I felt relaxed but something was getting to me. Why was Week suddenly taking me home? And why were his eyes flashing silver like mine do?
