Demonborn - 2 I
“Get up, Rose. Practice is barely over,” a voice called from above me. I released a groan in response and stayed still, trying to find some energy left in me to get up and continue moving. I cracked my eyes open to look at Levi, my best friend.
I released another groan as Levi lifted me to my feet and left me in the center of our formation.
“Come on, Rosie, you’re the lead female singer, Heavenly would die without you!” The overly enthusiastic voice of Angel called me. I looked over at the petite girl and sighed. She was adorable with her bright brown eyes and her bangs that fell just over her eyes. She was around five feet and one inch and she had waist length brown hair with some blonde streaks in it. She was the youngest of the group at nineteen and always brought out the joy and happiness in torturing us with runs of our new songs that I write after she choreographs them. She was one of the singers of Heavenly and was our main dancer.
“Give her a break, Angel darling, she’s been up working all night writing a song. We can’t all be on the same schedule as our adorable Angel, now can we?” The green eyed beauty asked from across the room. Elizabeth was a tall girl ( about six feet last time I asked) with bright blue hair that fell in waves to her knees. She was twenty-four and always captivated everyone she saw with her impossibly sexy body and beauty. She was asked out all of the time, but turned them down and said she wasn’t looking for a relationship. That may because she was my girlfriend, but who’s to say that’s the only reason? She was the lead rapper and could do it like no one’s business.
A dark chuckle came from Levi across the room as he came and threw his arm over my shoulder, earning a pout and a punch. Levi was dangerously handsome, no exaggeration there, and was incredibly gay. His shaggy brown hair fell to his eyelashes and his eyes were a shocking blue that always seemed to glow. He had been my best friend for as long as I could remember, and I had twenty-one years worth of life for memories. He towered over my five foot and eight inch frame by about six inches. He was the male lead singer and an incredible manager to our group.
“Ladies, please relax, little Rosie is just tired, right, Rosie?” Kai asked from the far end of the room. Kai was about the same height as me but gave off rays of light all the time. It got annoying sometimes. He had short blond that was cropped and seemed to match him well. His eyes were an emerald color that always caught people’s attention, both male and female. Hell, I thought I was in love the first time I met him, then I realized he was just a pain in the ass. He was our center of attention and an amazing rapper. He was my partner in crime when it came to late night ideas for the songs I wrote. He wrote all the instrumentals while I wrote lyrics for everything we did.
“First of all, only Angel can call me Rosie. Second of all, shut up, you were there, too. Third of all, the song is great and would be done by now if you hadn’t decided to get ice cream at ass o’clock in the morning!” I replied and threw my arms across my chest. I wasn’t much to look at, but I had strange features that made people do a double take to make sure they saw it all the first time. My hair was silver and it naturally grew that color. It was long enough to touch the ground if I didn’t pull I up, so I constantly had it in a braid. My eyes were unnaturally blue that made people stop and stare at them as if in a trance. My features looked to be a mix of foreign and local that made people think I was a mix of some kind.
All of us were in matching practice outfits we all could wear in the practice room. We all wore baggy black sweat pants that had the year we were born and “Heavenly” written on the top right of them. The girls all had white and grey sport bras we wore while the guys went shirtless. The shirts we all wore were white and had our names on across the top, our stage names just underneath and the last two digits of our birth year written in the center in big black writing.
“But why, Rosie?” Kai said, faking an innocent look as he watched me.
“Because Angel is adorable and I would kill for our little angel,” I said and pulled Angel to my chest and held her there, sticking my tongue out at the older male.
“Well, Rosie,” Angel started, pulling away from my hold with her face a bright red. “If you can nail the entire choreography by yourself, I let you go home.”
I smirked to myself and let my powers flow to my fingertips and let it carry me as I ran through the choreography. I forgot to mention, I’m part demon. We live in a society where demons and angels walk through the streets, both groups constantly at war with each other.
I finished and did a small bow as the room burst into applause.
“Alright, Wednesday, same time and place. I love you nerds, be safe out there and text the group when you get home!” Angel called us, as we all grabbed our shirts and ran out of the room.
“Well, Rose. Seems like it’s time to go to work at Angelina’s, huh?” Levi asked, throwing his arm over my shoulders.
“Not tonight, I have tonight off because of some major CEO renting out the whole place. He even went as far as hand picking the employees! How bizarre is this?” I ranted. Levi nodded as I continued on my rant, not noticing the fact we were being watched from the shadows.
