Demons Of Society - Chapter 33 Papa
After nearly a week of being back on earth and back in the apartments, things finally began to calm down.
However, there was one more mystery that remained.
“I just don’t get it!” Luci cried, circling around the professors apartment.
“How is she, y’know…!”
“A hybrid similar to yourself?” The professor asked, raising an eyebrow.
“Y-yea!” Luci stammered.
“Unless…” He began.
“What if Nana’s mother was a demon all along…!?” He questioned.
“Doubt that.” The professor said, filing his nails.
“Why are you so-”
“Unconcerned with this entire situation?” The professor asked, cutting him off.
“Plain and simple, it doesn’t involve me.” He said, blowing on his nails.
“Y-yea but…!”
“GUYS!” Randall cried, slamming the door open.
“YOU WON’T BELIEVE IT…!”
In the process of slamming the door open, a picture from on top of the wardrobe near the door fell onto the floor.
“Oi, ya dolt!” The professor cried, running over.
“A-ah sorry Ced…” Randall said, scratching his head.
As he bent over to help pick up pieces of the shattered frame, Luci’s eyes widened.
“What’s the matter?” The professor huffed.
“Luci?” Randall questioned.
“T-this is…”
“Why do you have a picture of…”
“Luci?” Nana called out, appearing in the doorway.
“N-NANA…!” Luci cried.
“A-ah, please go wait in the hall just a bit longer, ‘kay…?” He asked.
“M-mm…!” She nodded happily, leaving.
“You were saying?” The professor asked.
Luci grabbed the professor by the collar.
“WHY DO YOU HAVE A FRAMED PICTURE OF NANA’S MOTHER!?” He shouted.
The professor’s eyes widened.
Randall coughed awkwardly.
“Y-you mean Leigh…?” He asked, shoving Luci off.
“I mean, I didn’t get a chance to learn her name before she died…” Luci mumbled.
The professor looked steadily at the floor.
“W-wait Leigh…!?” Randall cried.
“That was the name of one of the ladies that worked for the demon human exchange program…!” He cried.
“I mean, she used to…” The professor grumbled.
“C-Ced why didn’t you-”
“How the heck was I supposed to know!?” The professor cried.
“Guess this is what humans refer to as a small world…” He muttered.
“S-so does this mean you’re…”
“My papa…?”
The three men quickly turned to the girl standing in the doorway.
She sniffled as tears fell trickled down her cheeks.
“N-Nana…!” Luci cried.
“What did I tell you about waiting outside in the hall…!?”
“WAIT!” Nana cried, shoving Randall out of the way.
“WHY!?” She shouted, grabbing the professor’s shirt.
“WHY DID YOU LEAVE MAMA AND I!?” She cried tearfully.
The professor kept his head down.
“Cedr-”
“BECAUSE…!” He shouted.
“I-I didn’t know until I opened the portal that she…”
“The last thing Leigh ever said to me…”
“I didn’t hear her words, but I saw her mouth them…” His hands began to shake.
“That she was pregnant…” He whispered.
The room fell silent for a while.
“How’s Aya?” The professor asked, turning to Randall.
“She’s still in disbelief, gaining her memories back slowly but surely…” He muttered.
“Wait, don’t change the subject asshole!” He cried.
“Did you or didn’t you have your grimy hands on the human demon exchange program!?” Randall shouted angrily.
“I-I Didn’t…!” The professor retaliated.
“I was sent on earth at the time to spy on the progress of the pocket portals!” He huffed.
“Leigh must’ve disassociated herself with the program by then, ’cause she was my partner for the pocket portals.”
“I mean, after all…” He narrowed his eyes.
“She was very sickly…”
Nana’s eyes widened.
for visiting.
“S-she was…” Nana nodded.
“So…” Nana looked up tearfully.
“You really are my papa…” She whispered.
“Heh…” The professor smiled.
“If that’s what you wanna call me, that’s fine by me…” He chuckled.
Luci stared steadily at the floor.
“What’s up?” The professor asked, as Luci stood up.
“This is for you two to decide…” Luci mumbled, as the door shut.
“Luci…” Nana and the professor whispered in unison.
