Desolate World - Chapter 132
A day later, The NPC came again. He wanted to buy materials. However, This time, he wanted three times the number of materials that Troy had.
Troy was in a pinch. Actually, he wanted to start his plan to get his former customers. With his stored goods and a cheaper price, he wanted to visit them. He knew he couldn’t make them leave Sunny Gulf Guild right away. But, at least, he wanted to make them tempted.
However, he couldn’t refuse this NPC either, as he didn’t want to lose this customer. He then apologized to him that he didn’t have that many goods.
The NPC said it was okay, and then he said he didn’t mind taking the goods that he had, and then took his remaining order next week. As always, he agreed to pay 5% above the price that Troy wanted. He was even willing to make a contract with Troy.
It was a really tempting condition for Troy. Removing his hesitation, he agreed to sign the contract.
As he didn’t have enough dirac to buy the number of goods. H
So, he decided to invest more by buying dirac with his savings in the real world. As he thought it was a business worth investing in.
For six days Troy spent his gaming time in the auction house. Of course, he was tired. But, he couldn’t quit, because it involved a large amount of dirac.
After he opened the shop, many of his regular customers complained. Some of them even threatened Troy, they would change their supplier, if Troy disappeared like that again.
Troy apologized to them. He then said truthfully that he had gotten a large order, so he had to standby at the auction house to buy the goods.
Some of them then asked why he didn’t hire some storekeepers. Troy could only smile bitterly, as he couldn’t tell them that he had done that multiple times, but after a week or so of their work duration, they would resign and then went to the store of Sunny Gulf Guild.
As he was tired of being stabbed in his back, he no longer sought NPCs to be his storekeepers. As he could no longer believe in NPCs, how he would believe in the players.
On the seventh day, the NPC came to take the goods. After checking them, he nodded and said that all the previous transactions, he just wanted to test Troy.
As Troy had proved himself that he could always fulfill his commitment, the NPC offered a bigger deal. He asked for 10 times the materials for the same price in a month.
It instantly made Troy dumbfounded. He thought he didn’t catch the NPC’s words correctly. For this transaction, he spent around a million dirac to buy the materials. He got 200,000 dirac for the profits. If it was ten times of this transaction, it meant 10 million dirac. Ten million dirac was equivalent to 5 million credits based on the current rate. So, if he could finish the transaction, he would get a profit of a million credits.
He then asked if what the NPC had said was true. The NPC then showed him a check of 12 million dirac. For a note, although players could store any sum of dirac in their inventory. It wouldn’t be too safe. Once they died, a random amount of dirac would also drop.
It was okay, if you only brought a few hundred or even a thousand. At most, you would drop 5% to 35% of them. But, what if the amount of money that you had was 10,000 dirac or even 100,000 dirac? To avoid an incident you must save them to the bank.
It was safer to save your dirac in the bank. Your money in the bank could also be used to do a transaction in the auction house just like the money in your inventory. As for the transaction with a check was rarely done, except if it involved a large amount of money.
There were two types of checks. First, a check with the recipient’s name was written on it. By doing so, only the person with the name that was written on the check could take the money from the bank.
The second type was a blank check. By not writing the recipient’s name on the check. Anyone could take the dirac from the bank of course, for security reasons, the maker of the check could cancel the check before the money was taken.
Because of the convenience of the check, it was a usual means of the NPC to give players the rewards or payment, as NPC also rarely brought a large number of dirac.
Because of the value of the check, it was one kind of contract. So it was protected by the system and wouldn’t be able to be destroyed before the money was taken.
As the NPC was able to show the check, he definitely had that amount of dirac. However, for some reason, he had a bad feeling about it. So, he asked the NPC’s real background and the reason he bought so many materials.
He then answered that he was a staff of the town hall. He bought that many materials because there was a possibility of war in the near future. So to avoid the Inflation of materials because of the war, he was ordered to gather as many as materials before the war started.
Troy easily believed the NPC’s words, as only the town hall had that much money. And War? If it happened, many things would change in their town.
Troy then said that he didn’t have enough money to buy that many materials. He wanted to get the money first, if the NPC didn’t object. The NPC said that he understood it. And as Troy had shown his capability, he would pay in the front for the transaction.
Troy was glad the NPC agreed. They then made a contract for the transaction. It said that Troy must give the agreed goods to the NPC in the next month.
