Destined to be yours… - Chapter 18
Brett, Aly, Caden, and Aria with Nanny Laura were enjoying the food that Aly cooked when the doorbell rang. Brett furrowed his forehead because he wasn’t expecting guests coming to his house.
“Nanny, please see who’s our visitor.” Brett said and Nanny Laura nodded before walking towards the door. The four continued eating.
“Good afternoon, Laura, is Brett inside?” Brett’s mom asked. “Yes, Madam.” Laura said and opened the door. Laura creased her forehead seeing unfamiliar faces but never speak because they were with Mr. and Mrs. Navarro.
The four oldies were directed by Nanny Laura into the kitchen but stopped for a while seeing a view that to their eyes are enjoyable. Aly was giving food to both Aria and Caden then put rice to Brett’s plate. “You should eat more. It will make your body recuperate fast.” Aly said. Brett smiled and whispered something to Aly that the latter blushed.
The two ladies looked at each other with meaningful smiles while the two men nodded at each other.
“How are you, Aria?” Mrs. Navarro asked. “I’m fine, granny.” Aria said. “Granny, Grandpa, this is Caden and that is Auntie Aly.” Aria said introducing the two. “Granny?” Aria said signalling her grandma to bow her head so Aria will reach her ear. “She’s our next Mommy.” Aria whispered to her granny. Mrs. Navarro smile and looked at Aly. Aly felt uneasy but still smiled.
Brett and Aly decided to approach their parents. Brett giving a peck to his mom while hugging his dad. Aly gave a peck to his mom and dad.
“What are you doing here, Ma?” Brett asked his mother. “I’ve missed my granddaughters and asked your dad if we could go here. And I’ll remind you about your niece’s seventh birthday.” Mrs. Navarro said. “When was that?” Brett asked lazily. “It’s on Sunday.” Mrs. Navarro said. “If I’m feeling better, we will go. And if Harper can go home early.” Brett said. “Where is she?” Brett’s mother asked. “She’s on a retreat. Shell be back on Sunday but we still don’t know the time.” Brett said. “Is there something wrong, why your voice like that?” Mrs. Navarro asked. “Daddy is sick, Granny. And Auntie Aly took care of him. She’s a great nurse.” Aria said that made Aly blushed.
“Thank you for taking care of my son.” Mrs. Navarro said. “No worries, Ma’am.” Aly said. “Stop the honorifics. Call me Auntie or even Mama would be great.” Mrs. Navarro said smiling. Aly blushed.
“Mom, why are you here?” Aly asked her mother. “Visiting you and the kids. We went to your house but you’re not there so we went to the laundry and Amelia said you’re here.” Aly’s mother said. “Mamu, we’ll be staying here until Sunday.” Caden said. Aly choked while Brett smiled. Mr. and Mrs. Andrada looked at her daughter. Aly didn’t know what to say, she was startled to the sudden announcement of Caden.
“Sir, Ma’am, I’m Brett Navarro. This is my daughter Aria. I have two daughters but Harper was with Tyler and they’re having their retreat now until Sunday. These are my parents, Mr. and Mrs. Navarro.” Brett said introducing his family.
“I was having a high fever early this morning and my daughters didn’t know what to do. They called Aly immediately and I’m thankful that she did come.” Brett said and smiled at Aly. “She took care of me so I’m feeling better now. But my Harper pleaded her to stay to accompany us.” Brett said continuously. “Actually, Sir, Ma’am, I’m courting your daughter.” Brett said that made Aly looked at him flabbergasted.
Mr. and Mrs. Navarro weren’t surprised at all. They saw Brett at their granddaughter’s baptismal. Ella also told them stories about Brett. Listening to Brett’s explanations made them smiled.
“It’s alright, son. Ella already introduced you to us, not personally but in words. She told us stories about you.” Mr. Andrada said. Brett didn’t respond at first because the word “son” echoed to his ears. “You two are old enough. You have experience how to love and how to lose a loved one. You’ve been through a lot and we’re hoping that you will find happiness in each other.” Mr. Andrada said that made Aly dropped her jaw while Brett was grinning ear to ear. “Thank you so much, Sir.” Brett said happily. “You can call me Uncle.” Aly’s father said. “But, can I ask you something?” Mr. Andrada said. “Anything, Uncle.” Brett said. “Don’t make my daughter cry.” Mr. Andrada said. “That’s also the promise I gave to Tyler.” Brett said that made Mr. Andrada smiled. “Don’t worry, I will be the one to punch my son if he makes this beautiful lady cry.” Mr. Navarro said making them all laughed.
“Dad, Brett is still courting me, and I haven’t give him an answer till today.” Aly said. Her parents and Aly were left at the living room while Brett’s and his parents were discussing something at the porch. “What was with your words a while ago? As if your giving me to him already.” Aly said pouting her lips. Mr. and Mrs. Andrada smiled. “Don’t you like him?” Mrs. Andrada asked. Aly kept quiet. “Its been five years, Aly. Why don’t you give him a chance. He looked good to me and based on Ella’s stories, he’s a good catch.” Mrs. Andrada said while Mr. Andrada was only listening to them. “Give your heart a chance to beat again for the one you love.” Mrs. Andrada continued.
“Aly, Brett had a slight fever.” Mrs. Navarro said while walking towards them. Aly hurriedly went to Brett’s room. “I’m sorry, I forgot to give him his fever medicine on time.” Aly said while walking towards the porch. “Hey, I forgot your meds. Are you ok?” Aly asked touching Brett’s forehead. “See, Dad, I have a very beautiful nurse on my side.” Brett said smiling. Aly blushed.
“We told Brett that if he’s not feeling well, he should be on the hospital. But he’s insisting that you’re with him so nothing to worry about. I guess he’s saying the truth.” Mr. Navarro said that made Aly’s face tomato in red. “Don’t worry, Uncle, if his fever will not fade until tomorrow, I’ll be the one to bring him to the hospital.” Aly said. “I’ll tell you a secret. Brett doesn’t want to go to the hospital ever since he’s a child. We need to outwit him in order for us to bring him inside the hospital.” Mr. Navarro said smiling. “Pa!?” Brett said faking his anger. Mr. Navarro signaled Aly to come closer. “He’s never been after of guns but he’s afraid of needles.” Mr. Navarro said that made Aly laughed. Brett blushed.
