Destined to be yours… - Chapter 30
“Mom, Dad!” Aly said seeing her parents walking towards them. “Hello, dear.” Mrs. Andrada said while hugging Aly. “Thank you for inviting us.” Mrs. Andrada said looking at the old Navarro couple. “It’s our pleasure.” Mrs. Navarro said while giving a peck to Aly’s mom. Mr. Navarro and Mr. Andrada shaked their hands same with Brett. “Please be seated and enjoy our breakfast.” Mrs. Navarro continued. “By the way, these are my two daughters and their husbands.” Mrs. Navarro continued. Mr. and Mrs. Andrada gave a nod and a warm smile to the couples.
“Where are the kids?” Mrs. Andrada asked. “They are still sleeping. They enjoyed a lot yesterday. Maybe, they’ll wake up later this morning.” Mrs. Navarro said.
After serving their breakfast, they continued talking stories about anything under the sun.
Their three days vacation were spent well. They decided to go back because of their works and the kids’ school.
“Welcome back, Ma’am!” Aly’s staffs spoke at once. Aly smiled and directly went upstairs because she knew, there lot of paper works to do.
“Well, well, finally, you’re back!” Amelia said faking her anger. “I’m really sorry. Mama planned ahead so I can’t do nothing but to stay with them.” Aly said apologetically. “Mama?” Amelia asked curiously. “Brett’s mother.” Aly said shyly. “Your mother-in-law?” Amelia teasing her. “No, not yet, what I mean…” Aly said stammering. Amelia laughed. “Relax, I’m just asking. Don’t feel guilty.” Amelia said. Aly sighed.
“So, what happened?” Amelia asked Aly excitedly. Aly rolled her eyes but started to tell the story to her friend from the start Brett got sick up to the vacation on the beach.
“You’ve got nice in laws, particularly your soon to be mother-in-law.” Amelia said. “Yeah, you’re right. They’re so good to me and to the kids.
“Are you alright?” Amelia asked seeing Aly rubbing her forehead. “My head aches and I feel sleepy.” Aly answered. “Maybe you’re tired. Get a nap. I will go down and prepare our lunch.” Amelia said and left. Aly decided to stop reading and laid on the couch.
“Welcome back lover boy!” Dave said teasing Brett. “So, how’s the honeymoon?” Dave continued. Brett gave him a curious look. “Auntie said you’ll be in your honeymoon when she called.” Dave said still teasing Brett while they’re walking towards the office.
“How’s the shop?” Brett said not answering Dave’s questions. Dave rolled his eyes because he knew Brett avoided his interrogation. “Oh, well, we passed the last month’s income by fifty percent.” Dave said excitedly. “So, I told our staffs that we’ll celebrate on Saturday.” Dave continued. “That’s fine with me. You decide where it will be held.” Brett said. “Ok!” Dave said making a salute to his friend. Brett shaked his head.
“Aly?” Amelia called her friend still sleeping on the couch. “Aly?” Amelia repeated. “Hhhmmm…” Aly responded. “Lunch is ready.” Amelia said. “Go on, I have no appetite.” Aly said that made Amelia furrowed her forehead. “Why, what’s the matter?” Amelia asked. “I’m not feeling well. I think I have a fever.” Aly said and Amelia touched her forehead. “Yeah, you’re right. I’ll ask Jackson to buy a fever medicine.” Amelia said. “Ok, thanks.” Aly said. “Is Brett coming?” Amelia asked. “Yes, he said he had debts to pay.” Aly said though feeling weak, still smiled. “Ok, I’ll call him to buy medicine for you.
“Where is she?” Brett asked while gasping for air. After Amelia called him and informed that Aly is sick, he immediately left the office living Dave puzzled. “She’s upstairs. She doesn’t want to eat.” Amelia said. “Can you make a soup for her?” Brett asked while going up to Aly’s office. “Yes, I’ll make it fast.” Amelia said. “Ok, thanks, please bring it in when it’s done.” Brett said and Amelia nodded.
“Hey, sweetheart.” Brett said then gave a peck on Aly’s head. “Hi.” Aly said. “What happened?” Brett asked helping Aly get up from the couch. “I don’t know. I’m ok this morning. When I started to read the documents, my head hurts and felt sleepy. Now, my body aches too.” Aly said. Brett checked her temperature and was shocked to see that it was forty degrees.
“You’re temperature is too high. Let’s go to the hospital.” Brett said worriedly. “Relax, I can handle this. I will only take the medicine and the fever will be gone.” Aly said calming Brett. “Are you sure?” Brett asked doubtfully. “Yeah.” Aly said resting her head on Brett’s shoulders.
Amelia brought the soup and gave it to Brett. Brett fed Aly and after, gave the fever medicine. “I’ll let Dave fetch the kids. We should go home now so you can rest.” Brett said. “I want to go in my house, not yours.” Aly said and Brett smiled. “Ok. Let’s go.” Brett said and guided Aly going to his car.
“Amelia, I’m sorry, I only came back today and now I’m leaving again.” Aly said apologetically. “Hey! You should think on how to get well soon and not about work. Don’t worry, my salary will be doubled.” Amelia said to her friend sitting infront of Brett’s car. “Brett take good care of her.” Amelia said. “Don’t worry, I will.” Brett said and the couple left the shop.
“Nanny Laura, bring me my clothes and the kids too. Bring also your needs. We’ll be staying here at Aly’s place maybe for a few days. She’s sick and I need to take care of her.” Brett said. He called Laura when they reached Aly’s house. He guided Aly to her room and let her sleep comfortably. “But why I am going also?” Nanny Laura asked. “Nanny Laura, I can’t cook. I can clean but cooking is not my forte.” Brett said a little annoyed. “Ah, ok, Sir, got it.” Nanny Laura said.
“Uncle Brett, how’s mom?” Tyler asked. Dave fetched the kids from school and became worried when told that their mommy was sick. “She took the medicine at her office and now she’s sleeping.” Brett said. “Tyler, we will be staying here so I could take good care of your mom. Caden and you can share on your room. Harper and Aria will stay on Caden’s room. Is that ok with you?” Brett said looking at the four youngsters. “Yes,Dad, Uncle Brett.” The four kids spoke at once.
“What about me?” Dave asked innocently. “Go back to the shop. I’ll see you on Saturday.” Brett said seriously that made Dave scratched his head. “That’s the reason why I don’t want to fall in love.” Dave murmured. “Saying something?” Brett asked smiling. “No, nothing, Boss, I’m going.” Dave said and left the place.
