Destiny Dreams And Demons - Chapter 17 Laylan 17
“Who are we?” Laylan asked in her sweet voice. Just then Gomorrah stepped out of her nearby hut. She was dressed in her normal robe-like dress; her long, light blonde hair flowing down into ringlets with small braids mixed in with the small curls at the ends.
“Greagan and I have been instructed to explain the path in which you are destined to walk,” she clarified in her low, quiet, soft voice. She paused, waiting for Laylan’s undivided attention. She stepped forward and took a seat on the log across from Laylan, next to her beloved lifelong companion, Greagan. “We have told you the tales of the war and how your parents had used their immortal, deity love to seal the underworld, ending the war and saving the Mortal World.”
“You have also been told of the heartache and trials that we all had endured for years after the war,” Greagan chimed in to assist in the explanation. “I have told you of how we had come to call Cion our home. And the premonitions that Gomorrah had experienced to warn the Gods of the upcoming war.” His voice trailed off as Gomorrah took over again.
“Now, you shall learn the rest of our story. Are you ready and prepared, Laylan?” Laylan slightly nodded her head to symbolize that she was. Gomorrah took her answer and looked deep into Laylan’s eyes and continued. “After my telling the Gods of my visions, they had come up with a brilliant plan to end the war and possibly seal the underworld for the rest of eternity.”
At this, Laylan’s face changed into one of intrigue and curiosity. Greagan began to speak, less harsh and softer to her ears. “As you know, your parents have the strongest love in the entire universe. Deity love is the only love that exists in this vast universe that is truly immortal.”
Laylan agreed with a nod of her head. Greagan continued, “But, though it is eternal, it is not the most powerful bond of love.” He gazed at his still youthful pupil, whose eyes and mouth now open wide in shock. She sat a moment, gathering her thoughts then tried to say something but nothing came from her red lips.
“I know what you are thinking, Laylan, Dear. But there is a love more powerful than deity love. The bond and complexity of human love, far surpasses that of the Gods.” Gomorrah finished Greagan’s monologue. “I know that you are wondering how they can have such powerful love but yet have the capacity for such cruelty, but human emotions are complicated to understand for even the God that created them. Perithian has tried and is driven by his persistence to comprehend human emotion, to give them the freedom and patience to better understand themselves.” She paused, thinking and searching for her next thought. Finally, as she had expected, Laylan began her questions.
“What does this have to do with me? What is…” she stopped suddenly as Gomorrah brought up two fingers of hers, as she always had used to silence the young goddess’ rambling of questions.
“Patience, my dear, we are approaching that very explanation.” Gomorrah looked over to her counterpart, who was shaking his head and murmuring, “Typical Laylan,” with a smirk on his face. She looked back at Laylan and tried to continue where she had left off. “What this has to do with you is everything. But let me take a step back and explain the plan that the Gods had thought of. Once they had discovered that even the strongest deity love would only seal the underworld for a few thousand years, they began thinking of the human bond of love. For, yes, in comparison to deity love’s immortality, it seemed weak. In complexity and passion, though, next to human love deity love pales. For deity love is shallow and futile when matched to the limitless power and emotion of the human heart.”
“They had devised a thought of an immortal, human love. If they could somehow harness a love of that magnitude, it could possibly end the threats of the dark ones forever,” Greagan sounded out sensing the breathlessness of his wife. He continued in saying, “Of course, your parents, having the only immortal deity love, could never harbor human love in themselves. Therefore they created a daughter. She, alone would be a goddess in body and mind, but her heart would only be half that of a god. The other half would develop in time, in understanding human emotion.”
Laylan’s eyes revealed that she had understood the truth in their words and she began to think of what it all meant for the destiny before her. Just then she heard Gomorrah begin again and she brought her attention to her. “In all meanings, this means that soon, you, my dearest Laylan, Princess of Pagan, shall leave us in search of understanding the human race. But before you begin your barrage of questions, allow me to try and answer them.” She took a deep breath quickly deciding where to start. “You shall go, when the full moon rises, to the Mortal World. Remember that as soon as you arrive, you will find a human form to resemble, for you my dear, are too, perfect to pass as a human.” She smiled sweetly at Laylan as she took her hand trying to ease her nerves that were now knotting in her stomach.
for visiting.
“Keep in mind that, yes, you are there to learn of human emotions, experience them, live with them and even live as one of them. You are also there to find lost hearts of Cion. These are humans that the gods have smiled down upon and believe that they will prove viable in the future. There are many of them, but the only ones we want you to focus on are imperative to the journey at hand. First, is Athello, the key, he will lead you four of the others. Daemon, the Prince of Perithian; which I am to understand that you have met him already, and now you must find him again. There is Amisra; the Carrier and Guardian of Daemon and Marimous; the Dragon Tamer. Lastly, you must find Adamar; Holder and Protector of the Black Book of Lucifer.
“You will also discover, as you are there, the man that shall carry a part of your father’s heart. As you have your mother’s, he shall have your father’s. In meeting him, you shall feel the deity love inside of you and as you begin to know him and trust him, the human love should well up inside of you and the plan will have worked. Then, we shall call him Kai,” Gomorrah stopped, waiting for some reaction from Laylan, but Laylan just gazed at her with fear, anger and confusion in her eyes and on her face.
