- Chapter 20: Destruction and Creation
Akane fell off the operating table and sprawled on the floor.
Despite her frantic endeavors to move her limbs, the doll’s spherical joints only creaked and squeaked. In no amount of struggle would Akane ever be able to freely maneuver her artificial limbs past the severed surface.
Akane wriggled her body in a futile and hopeless manner, nonetheless, as she refused to acknowledge this fact. Her appearance was terribly pathetic.
“Akane, this is the reality. The figure crawling on the floor in front of… me now is the reality of you.”
“Ugh…! Uuuh…”
With tears streaming down her face and muffled cries, Akane glared at me with eyes of abomination. She was wriggling around like a caterpillar crawling on the ground, but her hand would never reach me. In the end, a caterpillar could never even touch a butterfly fluttering in the sky.
Neither hitting me with her hand nor running away from me with her feet would ever come true again. Indeed, Akane has… become a terribly powerless and feeble being.
“She has become so weak… that Akane.”
Akane, whom I had regarded as the most exalted flower in the world, was now crawling around on the floor like a caterpillar, her limbs deprived of her by my hands. Whenever I reaffirmed this fact over and over again in my mind, the excitement I felt was irrepressible.
Here I was, intruding, encroaching, and beginning to dominate Akane’s life.
“Well, it’s not surprising that you found it unbelievable. Until a few days ago, you had healthy limbs that allowed you to walk and run around freely. And then… suddenly, it was deprived of you by my hands. With such ease.”
However, this was all for Akane’s sake. She must be made to realize that this was a preliminary step to creating a new Akane.
To create something new, the old must first be destroyed.
In a nutshell, after destroying both the body and spirit of the now imperfect Akane, a new Akane would be reconstituted. Amputating Akane’s limbs and endowing her with new, beautiful, distortion-free, artistic limbs was a justified evolutionary attempt made in accordance with this theory.
“…!”
Akane apparently still didn’t follow my words, but that was fine.
Someday, Akane would come to realize this. At the time when she sublimated into an existence beyond human knowledge by my hands… she would know the truth of me.
“But neither you nor I need such a thing. That is why you have been transformed into that form. All you have to do is sit here for eternity. And if you keep giving me bliss, the reason for your existence will never fade away. You live for me and I live for you. In this world inside this garage, this is the absolute truth.”
Eliminating the superfluous, destroying it, and leading it to evolve by bringing in the new. This was my principle of action.
Under this principle, I would employ any technique, no matter how heinous and horrific, to lead the beauty called Akane to an even more exalted existence.
