Developing My Little World - Chapter 60: First Contact (2)
Chapter 60: First Contact (2)
No one moved.
It was as if all the sound in the forest had suddenly disappeared, and now only these two groups could be heard. Laeo observed the animals across from him and as he studied these odd creatures, he noticed something odd.
He turned to Hyna, the lioness who was responsible for any small tunics of clothing they even had. He asked,”Hyna?”
She, who had been focusing on the situation, turned to him and asked,”Yes, Chief? What do you need?”
Laeo nodded his chin toward the other group and asked,”Those animals are wearing things similar to our tunic clothes are they not?”
Hyna then turned and began to seriously study the things the bear tribe were wearing, and she suddenly realized through her talent that these items were crafted similar to her own technique!
She slowly nodded and replied,”Yes, chief. Those rags covering them are indeed very similar to my own..”
Laeo, who was one of the fastest tactical thinkers in the tribe suddenly had a realization. Laeo accidentally sputtered,”it’s another race..”
Focks and the others’ eyes widened at this and Focks quickly confirmed with,”Chief, are you saying these animals are similar to us? They can talk too?”
As if by fate, at this moment, Pooh and Baloo walked forwards.
Focks leaned to Laeo and said,”What do you think? Is this a trap by this new race?”
Laeo thought for a moment before replying,”That wouldn’t make a lot of sense since both of us didn’t even know the other party existed until a few moments ago. Focks, come with me, everyone else stays behind. Follow the example they set, maybe we can figure out a solution to leave this area safely.”
Laeo and Focks also walked forwards by themselves at this moment. The two parties obviously had tension as either side had no idea who or even what the other party was.
Both sides were now standing about 10 feet apart and while their gazes were serious and cold, neither group had given off any killing intent yet.
Laeo was the first to speak, as he wanted to test to see if they spoke the same language. “Hello, my name is Laeo. This is Focks.” Laeo said this as he pointed to himself and then the sub-chief.
The animals opposite them looked at them in great confusion. They then replied in a very strange growling language,”grr haa grrjol Pooh, grhu grup gruspe Baloo.”
Laeo understood why the two had a confused face. This was very odd! He understood nothing except the names! As he thought about this strange oddity a notification rang out in his mind, and he assumed the other party’s mind as well.
[System: First contact protocol has been activated. Speak to the person from another race for approximately 5 minutes, Including at least 15 rounds of questions and answers from both sides. After some time, the system will automatically translate the words from the foreign race!]
Laeo and Pooh both looked up at each other at the same moment and a look of understanding flashed across both leaders’ faces. This chapter was first shared on the Ñøv€lß1n platform.
Another race! They had actually encountered a new and different race in this giant world! They were unknowingly the first race to make contact with another.
Pooh asked,”grruh grosh Laeo?”
Laeo, understanding that this was going to be difficult at first, slowly took his time with Pooh as the system in his mind worked furiously to translate the words. Laeo could actually feel his system working within his mind, and it honestly felt really nice and refreshing, like his brain was directly sipping on god’s personal lake.
Laeo shook his head to get rid of these thoughts and instead took out a flower that grew native to the Savanna. He asked,”Do you recognize this plant?”
Pooh took it from him, and after a few seconds nodded and replied,”Grre Gorrrr grupe Lioness Lily?”
Laeo’s eyebrows shot up in surprise when he heard the plants actual name be called out in the foreign language.
Laeo said,”You know this plant?”
Shaking his head, Pooh replied,”grruuh Grrroos Gratn Gods.”
Laeo asked,”Gifted by the Gods? Your talent?”
Pooh didn’t understand anything other than “Gods” so he thought maybe Laeo was confused so he called over another bear with a few grunts. The bear came over and after a few seconds, vines that were brown and looked poisonous started to grow from the ground.
Pooh pointed at the bear and then said,”Grrrj Grruu Gods!” Pooh then pointed at himself and then at the plant and said,”Greuuu Multi-Sense”
Laeo asked aloud “Multi-sense?” Then pointed at himself and said,”Energy Pulse”. Laeo then placed his hand on the cold ground and a faint green light showered out onto the barren land. After a few seconds the earth seemed to gain a new life, like fresh vitality had been pumped directly into the soil.
Pooh nodded and then pointed toward the south and asked,”Grruh grro?”
Laeo then had someone bring him a few twigs and a starter, which Laeo’s people called a “spark rock”. Laeo then dug up some fresh dirt and made a small mound. He placed the sticks at the top, placed a bunch of small leaves at the bottom, and the proceeded to grab the spark rock and light the twigs on top on fire.
The fire quickly submerged the small mound and worked its way to the leaves which Laeo then pick one up. He pointed at the display, then at the leaf, then at himself, before finally gesturing to everyone still standing behind him nervously.
Pooh nodded seriously and the two continued to try and gain some information from the other. Both parties had recognized the oddities of the other before the system calibrated but neither side had taken a direct stance or aggressiveness to the other so the two side tentatively continued.
After what felt like an eternity.
[System: Your talks with the foreign race have paid off. You can now speak on a very low level with the foreign race. Please continue speaking with them and the level of your understanding will increase.]
