DEVIANT - Chapter 434 - 434 Pushing the sin of greed out of the picture
434 Pushing the sin of greed out of the picture
Civilians who had managed to evacuate were safe but the rest were forced to stay within their homes as the entire streets of Naz were turned into a battlefield. Countless soldiers were stationed at strategic positions meanwhile Damon sat at the top of the tallest building In the city with the figure in black robes standing behind him. He watched the little Cecile with hints of admiration in his eyes.
It seemed like the boy’s calm nature seemed to be suppressing the impulsive nature of the dragon while still retaining his forceful approaches to doing things.
“In the face of absolute power, all forms of techniques are useless” Damon’s voice rang across the battlefield as a golden light exploded from his body covering the entire city.
Almost instantly all the injuries sustained by the soldiers were completely healed causing a widespread jubilation and morale boost in the army but unknown to them, Damon’s hair was no longer golden or rainbow-colored. Neither did his eyes carry their usual power and flare.
Damon had used what was left of his strength to heal these soldiers, even the gravity spirit didn’t expect this from him.
To think Cecile would willingly put his life at stake just to increase their chances of winning was beyond his expectations. When he asked Damon how he planned to deal with the fatigue and injuries of their soldiers and Damon didn’t reply, he simply decided to wait and observe.
“My life is in your hands now…” Damon said calmly as his long black hair fluttered majestically in the wind.
He stood with his hands hidden within his sleeves. His eyes carried nothing but absolute confidence as he looked ahead. He refused to believe he will lose Naz to his subordinates.
“When we dreamt of fighting against the forces of darkness, what did we expect? Something easy?” Damon’s voice boomed across the city.
…..
“Nothing worthwhile comes easy and in this battle, many of you will die. Many of you will get crippled and badly hurt but there is one thing I can assure you. We will win!”
Buzzzzz!
Roar!
Soldiers roared into the sky with immense fighting spirits blazing in their eyes while they prayed fiercely to the Dragon emperor who was currently defending their homes and people.
“Not one civilian will lose his or her life to these monsters….”
“Not one dead comrade will go unaccounted for…”
“Everyone will be avenged!”
“All you have to do is believe in me,” Damon said coldly as he watched the dark clouds racing towards the city from the gates of Naz which was already overrun by the enemy.
From the mist, a towering green snake could be seen with two figures standing atop its head.
Taking the gates wasn’t enough, these people planned to push them out of Naz.
If that happens they can push to Olanka and completely surround the southern province, allowing them to keep him here or even take over the entire province.
“Rose needs to get involved or we will remain in a disadvantaged position,” The Gravity cosmic spirit said and Damon shook his head.
Once the center falls, they lose. Once the southern province capital falls because Rose left her post unprotected, they will naturally lose the war for the northern province.
“We can only rely on ourselves to deal with this. As long as we can hold Naz, we should be able to have Rose invade Linchester while we push forward from here, boxing in the enemy and attacking them on two fronts. As soon as we deal with the problem here, we can help the other provinces to fight their wars” Damon said calmly while looking into the distance with an oddly calm look on his face for someone in a very bad condition.
The prayers of these people can only do so much in helping him recover his strength but it would take some time for him to regain something substantial.
The prayers from his believers outside these soldiers have been completely cut off too. They were trying to starve him of power in this mana-less world in order to limit his impact in the war.
“Keep me down? The guts!” Damon’s eyes flared up with cruelty as he hissed those words.
If someone told him that the enemy would be able to use his plans against him in the past he would have called such a person crazy. But now it was playing right before his eyes and he was just too weak to resist.
“Here they come… Prepare for battle!” Damon bellowed sending fierce ripples across the city causing these soldiers to cheer fiercely.
Golden light shun across the battlefield as the entire army was covered in golden scales and their power boosted too
“We cannot fear the night, because we are the light!” Damon’s voice was strong and calm but in reality, he was already looking deadly pale. He was spending more power than he was receiving and sacrificing his damaged soul which he is desperately trying to restore.
For now, he will deal with this problem by whatever method possible but after that, he will definitely make sure that his enemies pay for their crimes.

Klein looked across the dark city of Naz dazzling in golden light and he frowned. Even now Damon has refused to retreat and leave Naz to them. With the possible appearance of the Grim, they needed to keep him inactive to make sure the beast doesn’t notice him. That way it can focus on the Beyond and his soldiers. They can win this way without losing much.
So many people won’t have to be sacrificed for this…
“He is stubborn as always. In the end, Damon does what Damon wishes to do. He has a plan and won’t change it for anything but we have it do what’s right for him. He can barely handle us, what will he do when the Grim comes for him?” Michael said with a deep frown and Klien nodded as well.
He knew it was not Damon’s style but this time he needs to hide and let others cause the chaos.
