Devils Rise - Chapter 172 Building a Better Tomorrow!
I decided to name my unbuilt city Lakeview City. It was a simple city that would someday be known through all 20 Empires and Kingdoms within the Xertzul Abyss!
With the Crypt Keeper watching over this area, and the Holy Rossen Empire banner flying high, this was the safest place possible for me to raise a family.
I titled myself Lord Soulless, Mayor of Lakeview City. Everything within a three-mile radius was mine to manage by law. It wasn’t much but it was a city that was mine. I would design and build this suburban city to my specifications. All the nobles from the Holy Rossen Empire would be under my jurisdiction.
If anyone wanted to complain they could just seek this lord’s grandfather, the Holy Emperor!
It didn’t take long for us to have a campsite erected where all my minions were located. I had really the ragtag tribe with me. The lackeys I had consisted of the sphinx, the dark elves, the halflings, and the demons. The merfolk and the dwarves from the Earthen World had not been brought out.
Although I never officially conquered the Earthen World. Everyone in that pocket world worshiped this lord as a God. A bunch of Baron level manpower wouldn’t change much in the long run. So I didn’t see the need to change the status quo of the Earthen World. It was a study faith reserve and I left it at that. Maybe I will set a channel for devout believers to ascend one day after establishing my city.
We had a lot of manpower to start the construction of the city. I wanted it to have the bare-bones setup of a defensive formation even though we were close to the major city.
I gave Wanfang a copy of ‘Shaking in Formations’ as his reward for maintaining Libra so far. When he saw it he was ecstatic. I also rewarded Kyle with a copy of ‘Herbalism Passion’. With these two things hopefully, they don’t encounter many bumps on the road for years to come.
Dex didn’t have any problem removing any of the Labyrinth sect restrictions on their information. As long as I could keep stealing information from the Labyrinth sect this young lord’s forces would grow uninhibited. It was a sect beyond this world, after all. The Codex had even improved the information a bit, it was more clear and concise.
Me being the magnanimous and brilliant lord I. I shamelessly attributed myself as the new author of these books. They were only to be circulated in Libra. Any new members that joined Libra would think their leader was a supreme intellect, unrivaled across the lands. They were broken up into Volumes as is customary in the Endless Abyss.
Devils like feeding information one realm at a time. We couldn’t give lackeys a concise guide to cultivating. That would give away too much power to your underlings too quickly. I made Kyle draw up a new reward system for Libra as well. Libra was on the cusp of a massive expansion, for its lord had returned!
The Western Frontier was untamed land, although we would mainly focus on business in the near future. That didnt mean conquering this entire continent wasn’t in my view. Expanding the power of Libra was of foremost importance to this lord.
I gave all of the Alchemy pills and potions I had made to Kyle for distribution throughout Libra. For contribution points of course. With this new boon, it shouldn’t be long before some of the internal members break into Viscount as well.
Dex and I spent the night hammering out an initial construction plan. The most important thing when building a city was to start with the plumbing and sewage system. I wanted my city to be a look to a better tomorrow. Having clean water and sewage was the sign of a city, not a shantytown.
Kyle sent over a few people within Libra that were good at architecture. Libra managed an entire pocket world. If it didn’t have anyone that knew how to build a house it would be a shame. I was the grand visionary and they would do the majority of the detailed work.
The two major projects were this lord’s grand estate as well as Libra’s headquarters. A mayor’s office would be cool, but I didn’t plan to be sitting around expecting visitors. Libra would manage this territory by default. So the Libra Headquarters would have a building to serve as my Mayor’s Office.
I could do without a grand estate for now, building a headquarters was the first task. I decided on 200 acres for my two projects. 175 acres for Libra headquarters and 25 acres for my estate. This was 10% of the 3×3 land area that I had been allotted to the Holy Rossen Empire. It was a little greedy I admit.
If anyone had a problem with it they can go speak to this lord’s grandfather, the Holy Emperor!
Since this would be Libra’s home base for many years to come the headquarters had to be grand. I would make it campus style, for the training of new recruits. I wanted a building and a department to cover almost every profession used in the Xertzul Abyss.
This lord planned to rob the Labyrinth Sect dry!
I would have plenty of educational resources to teach these departments. Dex handled setting up the departments we would have. He was more knowledgeable about cultivation than this lord. He was more helpful than a certain fat cat that ran off to build a shop to sell wares at the first chance.
I had let my grand vision be known, the rest would require the hard work of my lackeys. A lord sends down an order and his loyal subjects carry it out. That is how it’s supposed to be done. Now I had nothing to do with the construction of the great Lakeview City.
I went back home and spent time with my two pregnant brides, then pulled out my Aphalla and started looking for a mission.
This lord had to go find a few good victims. I also needed Aphalla points to rob the sect of resources to provide for my followers. That was the best way for me to progress.
