Devoured Eccentric - 16 Upgrade
Two fine days later.
Nero was now 7. Since he was found, his achievements have really racked up. Putting forward his first step into the path of magic at the age of 6, gaining discipleship from the now Kingdom Advisor, or as people called him: king, and now, secretly becoming the richest man in Pinnacle, on his birthday at that.
The king loved him, his skill, knowledge recall, and understanding in-depth of everything. He knew of the unparalleled and unstoppable level of potential the boy had, and so, he was going to put him through everything to get him to a level he deserved.
The first surprise came to Nero was being taken to the armory and being and being asked to choose a weapon he liked and was comfortable with.
He already knew where this was going.
In front of him were a variety of weapons, bladed ones like axes, daggers, swords, a katana twice his height, sickles, kamas, as well as polearms like halberds, spears, guandao, and even some heavy hitters like nunchucks, clubs, and maces.
‘Obviously, he’s gonna have us train in the weapon we chose Nova, what do you think we should choose?’
‘Nero, there are many factors that matter but the biggest of all is how COOL it looks!!! Seriously though, with our current build, we need a weapon that’s light, swift and long-ranged. But that’s just what we should choose. What you really need to choose is what you like, a kid could easily kill with a dagger or beat someone to death with a spiked mace, just choose whatever you like. Always doing something for the best possible outcome gets really boring and pretty tiresome over time.’
Nova really cares for Nero, she wanted him to be happy with his choice, not burdened by the fact that he didn’t like the attributes of the weapon he chose, even if they were the most suitable ones.
Curiously inspecting the weapons hanging in front of him, he finally came across something suitable.

‘How’s that? It’s pretty long and sleek, and looks quite lightweight too! I think we could rock that in a cool way really easily’
‘Ooh I’m all in for the scythe, that’s really classy. Though, it’s not made very well, even by this world’s standards and all the old junk around us.’
The mini-scythe hung high on the hand side of the wall. It was quite long, even more so than the average sword, and hand a had a handle near the blade as well, to make close-handed combat easier.
Learning how to naturally emit some mana anywhere he went, Nero levitated the scythe off rack and brought it towards himself.
“YOU LEARNED THAT ALREADY? That took me like a year to even start, my disciple, you are simply unbridled!”
Noticing how Nero ignored him, the king straightened up and calmed himself.
“That weapon you’ve chosen was forged during old times by the villagers of a large kingdom who sought to revolt against their ruler. This is one of the weapons salvaged from that time, older than any weapon in this armory. If you like it, I’ll get you a new one made as soon as possible”
Swinging it around, Nero felt really badass.
‘It’s so light and sleek, I just have to be a bit careful because while using this close-range, I could easily harm myself swinging it around.’
‘Don’t worry about that, I’ll make a list of possible move sets with this weapon that are useful in combat, give me five minutes.’
With her processing level, visualizing a human figure with a scythe was a child’s play.
‘I’ll also make a quick blueprint for the new weapon, you want any changes to do this?’ Nova asked.
‘I’d like it an inch shorter cause the centripetal force really builds up when you’re spinning it and the handle to change to like a lightning shape, coming out at an angle and then running parallel.’
‘you got it! Get some paper and I’ll sketch it down’
Nero quickly asked a guard nearby to get some paper, who hastily reacted by going to register and pulling a sheet and pencil out.
“Old man, come here, I’ll sketch a blueprint you need to follow” Nero called the king to his side like a servant, imagine the people’s surprise if they saw how Nero treated their respected ruler.
Nova took over and, in quick speeds, sketched a blueprint of a sickle-shaped object, with more than enough detail assigned to every part of the design.
The king had a look of awe, this kid could actually draw so well? And so goddamn fast? This level of art is worth putting in a gallery!
“Alright. Get this made and use exactly the instructions I’ve written here.” Nero stated, pointing at the sheet.
He gave it to the previous guard who once again hastily sped off. The guard was one of the most trusted in the kingdom and even lived among the upper echelons.
He was a newly titled hunter, but now, he was being treated like a bag boy, though he had no regrets as he had seen the wonders the cute and innocent Nero could do. To him, the boy was simply a monster in disguise, one that had the potential to make pinnacle rise to the top, and beyond.
Turning back to the King, Nero started his questioning.
“So I’m gonna be taught to use a weapon yeah?”
“*cough* You are, and a specialist for the type of weapon you chose will train you. In the past year, you’ve been nourished by both basic body refining methods and the temple lands.
This was all for your body to be able to handle using a weapon for long periods without breaking down too fast”
The growing muscles of a child wouldn’t be able to handle swinging around a weapon easily, that’s why Nero had spent the year he had lived in Pinnacle in just making his body more adaptable and stronger.
“And what makes you think I’ll agree with this?”
“Uh… I-uh, okay, as my disciple I want you to reach the very top, and I believe you, out of the countless people in the world, can make it. I really believe you can reach the very top, there are countless dangers that even this old man’s 180 years of experience can’t even begin to fathom. Those nobles, they’re no more than lackeys of great powers and they’re stronger than me, but I believe that one day, you’ll be greater than even the greatest.
“Anyone on the path of magic ultimately dreams one thing.
“To reach Godhood.”
Nero realized how far one human, by their power and accord, could go.
On Earth, people dreamed of flying in the sky, run faster than a car, or even teleport. That was why the supernatural genre was so big.
Any child dreamed to gain superpowers and become a superhero, which was such a viable possibility here, in this world.
To him, Godhood…
didn’t seem impossible.

‘What do you think, Nova? Godhood seems like a goal to reach, and I’ve got nothing better to do. It seems like a good ending, for the ‘Great Eccentric’, don’t you think?’ Nero contemplated the endless possibilities, that man who left this planet, did he reach Godhood?
‘Imagine, actually becoming a God, we could do anything! I love it, that’s our new goal, and NOTHING will stop it!’ Nova became excited, slightly too excited.
“Alright, tell me everything you have in mind to make me stronger.” His eyes momentarily shone of a bright red, a very slight invisible pressure could be felt on those around him, as if his intent made the world submit to him.

Monday, week 5, May.
–
The week here was the same as the one on Earth, except it didn’t have a Sunday. This also went for the months, there was no November and December. This meant that workers got a break on the third and sixth day of the week, meaning Wednesday and Saturday.

Nero’s weapon, the scythe, had finally been forged. It took so long because Nova’s instructions needed the weapon to be forged with such chemical precision, that only the most experienced and skilled blacksmith in all of Pinnacle could perform the forgery.
The outcome had completely shocked him.
The weapon’s blade came out incredibly sturdy, sharp, and most of all, incredibly light. The blade had been forged under constant pressure, even when being heated, to make sure there were no spaces inside.
The blade’s composition was mostly titanite, an alloy mix of titanium, vanadium, and crystalline, a mineral likely to be made of a mana-bonded compound. Titanite made the structure incredibly solid, whereas, crystalline made the blade almost completely air-resistant, making the final product easy to swing around.
The blade was like a cap, it had an outer cover where the main body, the wooden rod, was supposed to fit in.
The wooden rod was also quite special.
The rod on the outside was made of crystalline embedded wood, with a dragon patterning where the lightning patterned handle was, making it look as if the dragon was spitting lightning.
The inside of the rod was purely made of graphite aerogel, it was the lightest material that was easy to make that Nova could think of.
Unlike other weapons where the inside was the strongest, to keep together the weapon, Nova had taken a different approach.
The weapon was already incredibly solid, if it were to meet a force that could damage the structure of the outer body, the inside would absorb all the force the structure could not handle, making the weapon only susceptible to wearing down over time.
It really was quite a masterpiece.
The weaponsmith felt quite a bit of jealousy, the blueprint had been taken away right after he had made the forging, and he had no right over such an incredible weapon, moreover, it was being given to a kid! How could he possibly be complacent?
Still, he knew of the King’s wisdom. He knew there was a reason so he kept his complaints all to himself.
Little did he know, the weapon’s blueprint was made by its wielder, Nero.
.
.
.
Back to his training grounds, the temple lands, Nero had just been delivered his weapon.
“Well well well, it’s about time.” Nero opened the matte-black case it came in.
Inside, a beautifully forged scythe lay, its blade left covered in a crimson & black wavy patterned sheath.
The Shaft had faint red streaks running across like tiny crimson lightning strikes were coalescing inside.
‘It came just like I thought it would! Though, I didn’t know that there’d be feedback from it.’
Nero felt very very minute feedback from the weapon in front of him, his aura, the mana he released, was being absorbed, even though he gave out no commands.
‘It’s… rejecting us. That’s quite odd. I’ll just overload it, I guess.’
With little effort, a coin-sized sphere formed, giving off a deep red hue.
This was peak tier basic mana.
Yup, Nero was a genius, handling mental fatigue was easier than pie for him, and since his body was of a child’s, physical fatigue regenerated at an extremely quick pace.
Nero had really pushed his body to the boundaries, exhaustion simply didn’t matter. It was good for his body, and only his. This was because he had complete control over his body, meaning that regeneration with protein and nutrients was child’s play.
The tiny sphere descended into the Shaft of the scythe.
There was a sudden response as the mana sphere permeated inside.
The intensity of light given off jumped.
The weapon was glowing brightly, very brightly.
A fraction of the mana sphere was left out as if the weapon had had enough.
As the shine subsided, the light faded and became incredibly meek. It had had enough of what it needed.
“Well, that works I guess” Nero shrugged.
‘I think the crystalline absorbed our mana, the question is… What’s it need it for? It’s not a rare gem like our senator’s gem so our mana has probably been used up for something.’
“Who cares? Either way, this weapon is cool and I really wanna try it!” Nero excited held up the scythe and carefully unsheathed the blade.
Most of the blade was a void black, completely absent of color, the razor-sharp end, however, was like a mirror, a complete contradiction to most of its body.
Nero could see a slightly warped reflection of himself, the blinding sun invading from a corner.
“Holy Shit It’s SO COOL!!!” Nero had just found his new favorite toy, a very dangerous toy.
Giving it a few swings, Nero felt like he was slicing through the air unhindered, it was so fast, so swift and so goddamn light!
Every time he swung it, a red haze followed after, like a phantom.
‘Alright, send me the move set’
‘Copy that.’
‘Would you like assistance in performing these movements?’
‘Uh…Oh…Oh, what the hell? How the fuck am I supposed to do that? Nova, guide me until I get the hang of it okay? And the second I’m about to chop a limb, stop my body.’
Nero had just seen both the most visually pleasing and dangerous moves in his whole life. Nova had made moves that required extremely high dexterity and spatial awareness, without Nova’s help, he would probably accidentally chop a few limbs off.
‘I’ll take over and do all the moves, and you can just ingrain the feeling into your head and try and perform what I did.’
“Aye aye, cap’n.”
Nova took over, marking the beginning of a furious dance, filled with danger and sharpness.
To her, the scythe was an extension of herself that could move in specific ways in different stances, on her accord, like a muscle.
She swung the scythe round and round, the haze began to form a barrier in front of her. Satisfied, she began to move the rotating scythe behind her back, the rpm only increased as she beautifully weaved through the air.
With a sudden jerk, the blade moved from behind her, over her shoulder, into her left hand in front, still spinning at dangerous speeds. The haze was everywhere now, from afar it was as if Nero’s body was breathing red, in and out of existence.
To end the dance, she pulled the scythe from the side, holding the handle and spinning with the blade. With each rotation, a force manifested itself into piercing wind.
Slowing down, she made a final slash that traveled a few meters before dissipating into the air.
“WHAT. THE FUCK.”
