Devoured Eccentric - 17 Near Death
_____
Six years ago, the Willorian times began. Aldin was born a year before its beginning, on the 20th of May, Year G99, celebrating 99 years of control for the Gregorians, who were eventually wiped out during the winter of that year by the Willorians, hence, gracing the world with the Willorian Era.
This was information to everyone across the planet, even Nero. The Nobles were apparently told to distribute this information to everyone who lived here, the homeless, those in seclusion and even made it compulsory to teach children of the great Gregorian fall.
Nero highly doubted most of the information. From Earth’s knowledge, he knew that the victors of a great war got to rewrite history completely and without diaries and catalogs of those living at the time, no one would really know what exactly happened in, suppose the dark ages.
He also suspected a very unlikely possibility. He had been re-routed through 4-dimensional space to the very beginning of this era because of its suitability.
This was completely different from something like fate, which only had a likelihood to be the case if he were in his own universe. He could be sure that he’d been plucked out of space, from his old reality, into a new one. It was more like reality having to very minutely adjust to him, and placing him at the very first suitable position it could to go back, go back being stable again.
It was the most viable possibility he could think of and he had not an inkling of evidence to support it.
Either way, he was stuck and now had a long journey ahead of him, to ascendence.
To Godhood.

Empty temple lands.
‘Uhh, that was unexpected.’ Nova quite perplexed, those condensed wind slashes were not in her calculations. In fact, no one would have thought that wind slashes were a possibility with a speed-type weapon, like a scythe that was made to cut through the air, not condense and swish it away.
‘…The most likely unaccounted new factor to cause such a phenomenon is the peak-tier basic mana the user inputted previously.’ Nova briefly analyzed.
‘So, the mana got stored and somehow clumped the air together which the force of the swing accelerated it outwards?’
‘Most likely so.’
‘…’
“That’s SO COOL!” Nero marveled at the weapon’s effectiveness in long-ranged combat.
‘To achieve such a phenomenon, The scythe has to travel at the speed of 200 m/s, though sudden acceleration reaching 100m/s^2 in 80ms would also suffice.’
“So, I’ll try to replicate what you did, just at a slower speed, also just show me a visual path for how my scythe should travel.”
‘Copy that’
Nero started slow, he knew he had no need to start fast and end up with a severe mistake stuck in his muscle memory so he would start as slow as he needed to, just to make sure the end result was perfect.
First, he started at 0.2x the speed, then 0.3x, 0.4x and after perfecting his stance and practicing enough, he went at higher speeds.
When Nova had performed the move set, she took a total of 32 seconds to finish. It was tiring if Nero started off at the Nova did, but at a lower speed the moves weren’t very energy consuming, so repetition was tiresome.
Neo had finally reached 0.8x when he was finally exhausted.

‘Alright, good work. Tomorrow, there’ll be a specialist coming, and we need to gain as much from him as we can.’
“Honestly, I wish you could just fight instead of me.” sighed Nero.
‘I do too, but I’m not the compatible one here, I’m here for you, my specialization is to take care of you.’
Nova may have a high level of skill in controlling and commanding the body, as well as every kind of analysis there is, but she couldn’t implement her result and data with her mind. This is all due to the ever-adapting code, built alongside, that kept her free of detrimental human emotions.
The code was also made to make her absolutely incompetent in thinking for herself, in the unlikely case she took over the host’s body and mind.
Without this, she could’ve easily adapted to become the greatest battle genius, her reflex lag between processing and perception was only 2ms, she had the capability to become the greatest in the world.
“Alright its time to eat juicy magical boars, and sleep a ton.”

Waking up in the morning, Nero did the usual, brushed his teeth while lifting his body with a single hand, straining body Stretching, running around the temple ruins a few times, having a comforting bath, eating breakfast, and finally wearing some full blacks for meeting up with this specialist.
Most of Nero’s time was spent either at home or at the temple ruins, he finally had made up his mind, getting stronger physically was his first sub-quest in his mission to ascendence.
With Nova, pain was no issue at all. He just had to say the word and if his nerve receptors were sent signals over a certain threshold they’d be suppressed. It achieved its purpose of indicating an injury or muscle breakdown but didn’t hinder Nero’s mental state.
It was already afternoon, the time when Nero was told to meet this man.
To his surprise, no man was in sight as he arrived at his destination. Instead, a woman lay on the broken temple pillars, quietly humminh the widely famous song, alone, composed by Nero.
“Uhh, hi there, are you th- Woah, woman CALM yourself!” Nero had, to impress this woman, stealthily approached her.
Not a great idea, it turned out to be.
With a sudden movement, Nero had earned himself a sleek and deadly blade appear behind his neck, very neatly brushing past his back hair, leaving a select few to scatter away in the wind.
“REALLY!? YOU HAD THE GALL TO SNEA- uh, oh… It’s- it’s the boy wonder, and I’m less than inch away from slicing his head off…” her voice trailed off, she suddenly realised, it was her who was closer to deaths doors at the moment.
A sharp circular disc was formed around her neck, giving off a deep crimson glow, as well as around her shoulder joints and her leg joints.
Her body had unconsciously stopped the moment it felt the dominating pressure surround her body. Without her years of experience as a hunter, she would have, without a doubt, lost her head along with all her limbs.
Initially, the blade swing was made with the intent to behead the sudden source of sound appearing near her. That swing, however, had frozen completely.
Reflex was one of the strongest points Nero currently possessed, the instant he had perceived the motion and intent of the middle-aged looking woman in front of him, he had unhesitatingly chosen to completely dissect her body, something he had a lot of previous experience in.
“I would really appreciate if you sheathed your scythe.” Nero said nonchalantly, dismissing the discs around hands.
The woman was so shocked, she could only nod her head and sheathed the scythe while replaying what happened a moment ago.
_
‘I should really practise unsheathing my blade fast, without the instant disc formation, we would’ve so been dead.’ Nero mentally noted.
‘Noted, I’ll make a simulation that will be fast, energy efficient and not detrimental to the body figure. Give me a few minutes’ Nova replied.
‘Thanks, make it look cool as well’
‘Naturally.’ Nova snorted back.
_
With a single thought, Nero dispersed all the discs though he was a lot more cautious than his outer nonchalant look.
The woman was just standing there.
Nero took a moment to analyse her features. Short, glossy blonde hair and a slightly wrinkly face indicated she was a woman with experience. He noticed her slender figure and guessed her bra size to be a B, quite a rarity seeing as size C and above were the only sizes he’d observed until then.
“Th-the old man never t-told me I was going to teach Pinnacle’s pride! I-I’m so sorry!!!” the woman gave a deep bow, showing sincerity. There was also a minute hint of fear embedded in her voice, only noticeable by Nova.
“Just remember, you try that one more time and your head goes flying” Nero was quite pissed, this woman only apologised because of his status and achievements, not because he was random stranger whom she had intentionally tried to kill.
He didn’t care about her past, or who she was, anyone with the intention of harm was to be eliminated.
The woman profusely nodded, took a deep breath, and finally introduced herself.
Her name was Madison, an eighty year old beast hunter with 30 years of experience. She became a hunter when she was 50, previously working in the mining department.
She was a master in the arts of sickleplay, and had spent 10 years of her life killing beasts with a scythe, fitting her position as a scythe specialist.
“Okay, this is how it’ll work, you show me moves, I copy, then we fight using only those moves, understand?”
Nero unsheathed his abyssal blade.
