Devoured Eccentric - 19 Hunting
“You have lost.” Nero smiled.
One could deduce that looking at the scene.
A boy wielding a light consuming scythe, whose end was drilled into the stick of scythe, leaving it hanging mid-air.
The battle had ended in two moves from Nero, the woman ended on the ground shocked beyond repair and her now had a hole in it.
“Now then, I’ll see you again tomorrow, buh-bye” Nero pulled the end of his scythe out from hers, and sweetly smiled. To the woman on the ground, the smile was more akin to the devil’s than to a little child’s.
The woman shivering and mumbling to herself.
“I – I don’t wanna teach this kid, he’s a fucking MONSTER! I was told to teach him everything I know but how am I supposed to meet him again without getting frightened to death?!? Ah, I’ll just show him everything I know tomorrow and leave this cursed Kingdom, I don’t want any of this!” she made up her mind and went her way.

Nero got home a few minutes before evening started to set.
‘You know she thinks you’re a monster right?’ Nova felt… Odd.
“It’s better than being a weakling.”Nero replied back.
“We established who the greater one was here”
‘It’s you of course, but did you really have to scare her like that?’
“You do know it’s because my mana is formed with the intent to dominate that actually terrified her?”
‘… That did play a part, but that smile in the end really gave her the chills.’
“She deserves it anyway, trying to kill me without even looking, anyone that tries to harm us will die” Nero felt angered.
‘Don’t think too much about it, let’s just eat and sleep.’
“Okay” Nero didn’t feel very good, a threat towards him for no reason really angered him.
He’d be dead if not for the disc formation he’d learned by himself, something only possible by advancement in manipulation and the skill to naturally give off mana.
…
The cycle of life continued, the dark night turned to fiery daylight, the never ending routine followed, waking up, getting ready, working, eating, working, going back home, and finally sleeping the exhaustion away for another day.
It was time once again for Nero to head for the ruins and learn from Madison.
This time Madison had plans, show every skill she had acquired over the decade and leave Pinnacle for another kingdom, away from the haunting child.
“Alright let’s go” the moment Nero reached her, she formed two rollers underneath her feet and sped away towards East down the hill.
She intended to take him to acroyl forest, her hunting ground for magic beasts, or income as she called them.
____
There were simple rankings regarding the strength of magical beasts.
Beasts were ranked according to the level of control and level of mana they had control over.
There were four ranks of beasts, simply numbered according to their level of threat.
A Rank 1 beast – an enraged.

A Rank 2 beast – a menace.
A Rank 3 beast – a terror.
A Rank 4 beast – a reaper.
In the acroyl forest only average animals and enraged are found. There were rumors of a Wild menace though its appearance was never confirmed.
A Rank 1 beast was possible to defeat by even a team of martial artists that hadn’t stepped foot into the path of magic.
A rank 2 beast, unlike rank 1 beasts who could only incorporate mana into their charges, had achieved basic level manipulation. Average humans had no chance to stand near these beasts without being demolished. They also gained the ability to create barriers of mana to cover from ranged attacks, which made slowly whittling their health down impossible.
Rank 3 beasts were incredibly rare. They were known to be the rulers of forests, with rank 2 beasts working under their control. They had gained control over their rage, making them much more unpredictable and hard to deal with. Only slayers, with their long range attacks could pose a threat to them.
Much like Overlord’s gem, not much was known about reapers, rank 4 beasts. Never have they been spotted in the centuries since proper logging was created, only scripts found in ruins ever depicted such abominations. They were rumoured to have enough power to wipe out entire kingdoms on a whim and even kill demons, humans that used true mana.
There were massive power jumps between both slayers and demons, and terrors and reapers.

Nero already knew where they were going, it was the dense forest he had found himself in, the place he was reborn.
On his map, he could see exactly what path Aldin had taken to get into that underground as well as the path he’d taken to get to Pinnacle.
Both him and Madison were speeding through, instead of going North East, the direction his previous village was in, they travelled straight towards East.
Both were travelling at 35 Miles per hour, sometimes having to slow down to swerve past trees.
It had previously taken an half an hour to get out of the kingdom, and finally, after another half hour, Madison slowed to a stop.
Then, she extended basic amateur mana from her hands and jumped onto a trunk of a tree, then climbed upwards until she reached a thick branch.
‘Ooh, smart. Too bad, I can just jump really high’
Under Nero’s feet, mana started to take shape around his boots. Nero skipped a few centimeters of the ground, underneath, a spring that was already coiled together started to form.
With force added from Nero’s mind, the spring repelled his body high into the air, right up to the branch where Madison was, staring at him like he was a threat to humanity.
“Right, lets kill some beasties” Nero whispered, giving an intense smile, making Madison almost fall back down.
Was he really a kid? What kind of kid doesn’t fear scary beasts? Madison didn’t know what to say, she was only getting increasing frightened.
Who knew, that a child could scare the living shit out of an adult hunter, whose killed hundreds of beasts with a bloodied weapon?
