Devoured Eccentric - 27 Succession
“You have to kill a human.” The King said with a grave tone, expecting Nero to be shocked.
Nero, however, was quite different, a complete antithesis to being shocked, he was gleeful.
‘What could possibly be easier to do than this?! I’ll probably have to constrain myself a lot actually, goddamnit.’ Nero thought.
He was also curious about something, what was his aptitude in magic?
‘Nova, look at all factors and ascertain which one can be measured, quantified, and had the greatest effect on my level of manipulation.’
‘Acknowledged.
‘Processing through all changes in the body since becoming a mage.
‘Finding their correlation to manipulation.
‘Value returned: most likely factor – DNA, another likely factor – Brainwave amplifier in the blood; this correlates to the DNA as well.’ Nova said, completing her report.
Nero put up a shocked, slightly disgusted face with a hint of fear, making his innocence to bloodshed really stand out.

“You want me to kill someone?” Nero said, sarcastic rejection filling his voice.
“No, no! Of course not! I need you to reach the top band in the juniors section and upright refuse them when they ask anything of the sort. This part was made to check the righteous character of the person they will recruit, the man they want you to kill is normally a convict with a history full of crime.
“The test is made to test your determination to do the right thing, even if it means having to kill someone.”

The world was fucked up, **** and slaughter occurred at every moment somewhere. Though the world was based on the hierarchy of power, formations of clans offset the number of evil deeds one could do after gaining power, this was why major powers kept their methods to improve top secret.
Clans were a powerful group of individuals usually having a clan master, his descendants, clan elders, their descendants, and disciples affiliated with a Sect.
All disciples had to go through the process of elimination when chosen by sects, starting at the bottom, as an outer core disciple, making their way to power by reaching a certain stage in manipulation or having continual growth at a fast pace. The best way was to just have a tournament, weeding out the easy-going, weak-willed people and adding an agent of determination in their mindset to improve, while rewarding those with the ability to improve with an enticing reward.
Nordon, One of the major rulers of the Northern Mainlands, was a Sect-based Clan. It brought it in promising individuals from foreign Kingdoms and Islands to be a part of their Sect, with the enticement to pave their way to a stronger, better future.
If one was good enough, they’d be sought after by the affiliated Clan, removing them from the bottom and giving them knowledge and resources to fulfil their potential as a part of their clan.

“That’s okay then, I don’t want to kill people. If I did, then that would be saying that it was okay for my Village to try and kill me.” Nero smiled, looking like he was happy to not have to kill someone.
The reality, however, was different.
“But, if they still want me, should I go with them? You said they come from far far away right?”
“Of Course! Your godly potential is just being wasted here, right now, your mind is too short-sighted. You haven’t seen even a drop of the sea! Magic brings endless possibilities, there are techniques out there that a Hunter could use to defeat a Slayer! Or let you fly, walk on water, run faster than the wind and much more!”
“Oh? Really!?” Nero showed and expression full of surprise, but internally, he had connected the dots. That manual that Madison had found, there were many more like them. Not just that, he knew that people with that much power, to be able to create such ‘programs’ had to be Demon level, or even more.
While flying, he didn’t spot a single coast. He knew this place to be called the Island of Plumon, but what kind of Island was this? This place was more like England than an island!
“Forget about that for now, we need to chose which Kingdom you will go to.” The king stated sternly.
‘Nova, choose one of the Kingdoms with Eenie Meenie Minie Mo, true randomness is a great start to our adventure!’
Nero didn’t care about either of the Kingdoms, he just wanted to move forward on his journey to attain unachievable power, and the situation was clearly on his side. A place where he could know more about Mana being presented to him on a silver platter?
‘I’ll take it!’ Nero thought with certainty.
Since he had already advanced to a Slayer, his aptitude was, no doubt extremely high. Nero was sure that it was because of the perfecting he had done of his Gene when he was on Earth. According to Nova, he had no difference to his gene. One might question why his previous body did not have the same facial features as him right now, it was because his previous body was adapted to look the same without changing, while his genes were tweaked.
He had done this just to check how big a difference it made on his body. After realising that perfecting his genes brought a huge boost, he mastered the art and perfected his genes to the extent he could.
‘Acknowledged.’
‘Random guessing, based on the number of atoms that make up Pluto, has occurred.’
‘Chosen: Haron Kingdom.’
“I’ll go to the Haron Kingdom,” Nero said confidently.
“Very well! I will tell you everything I know about the kingdom.” The King said while nodding.
Haron, a kingdom situated North to Pinnacle, is known as one of the three major powers, specifically, the central power. The kingdom is shaped circular, having a diameter of around 100 miles and, like Pinnacle, has a power-based hierarchy, the most influential living around the centre.
There was a long line of lineage still in power since the beginning of the Kingdom’s creation, The Harons. The Harons, also known as Royalty, was the instilled power that ruled over Haron. There was still a government in place, but the Royals had more power.
Ruling with an iron hand, these people lived in a large castle, dead centre in the middle of the Capital.
‘Very much like the cities from the medieval times on Earth.’ Nova chimed in.
“The current King is told to be a Peak-tier Slayer! There is a massive gap between his strength and mine…” signs of reminiscence could be seen on his face as if he had personally witnessed something similar.
“There is one thing you have to remember always when you are in the City…
“Do not trust anybody. Not. A. Soul. That place is ridden with malice, taking advantage of a kid is nothing out of the ordinary. There is one massive difference between the Capital and the city, the people. In the capital, like Pinnacle, people with massive amounts of Fame and Recognition live. There is no way you will be exploited there, people care too much about their social reputation.
“Moreover, everyone in the Capital is filthy rich! A small cheap house in the Capital is worth a dozen Golden Rubies, just entering the capital from the outside take a lion coin for every two days of stay. (AN; 10 lion coins = 1 golden Lion coins, 10 Golden Lion coins = 1 Golden Ruby Lion coin)
“But, you can buy a permanent entrance pass for 5 Golden Lion Coins, an amount which only travelling merchants can afford. For us, you don’t need to buy one, Noble’s only visit according to how big each Kingdom is. There, they will stay for a whole week before setting sail once more!
“In that time, they conduct examinations for the worthy, free of charge because it happens in the Capital, everybody has riches. They only care about talent, going through the uneducated has a much lower chance of getting someone with qualifications to become a worthy mage.
“You know, I didn’t think you’d have skill in combat seeing as most geniuses are only that in one field, lacking far more in others. But since you could master using a weapon so fast, I am sure you are someone unparalleled and I know you can easily become one of the 10 candidates.”
The King’s voice had turned solemn, carrying deep emotions. His words carried a strong sense of belief, belief in Nero, his skill, and his belief in Nero becoming someone Fabled in the future.
