Devoured Eccentric - 51 Run
Nero popped the cut glass out with a slight jolt from his palm, air rushing out madly as a consequence.
“My intent lets me glide, trust me,” Nero lied through his teeth at this moment of crisis, putting up an honest and serious front.
‘They won’t even know about the Adept Mana,’
“If you want to live, then jump on my back. Don’t worry, I’m stronger than I look.” Nero crouched down, hoping for them to believe in him.
“But, how? I thought Basic Mana Phases through their user! Have you done this before?” Micheal shivered in the cold blast of air while shouting loud enough for the Nero to hear over the wind.
“Of course I have! Now get on! We don’t have any time to spare! Just trust me, its either this or the unknown Slayers!”
“I-I scared!” Michael spoke up this time with a frightened face as he looked down and saw the small trees the size of spikes and a river running through with the thickness of a thread. He couldn’t help but imagine falling headfirst into the ground and becoming a paste.
“You know what? I’ll give you 5 seconds, or I’m jumping my self! You can just stay here and have a party with the dead crew, 5, 4, 3-”
“I’ll come! Michael, get on me!” Micheal rushed as he started to mount on top of Nero.
“No! We die!”
“Michael its not the time for that! Get on quick! Close your eyes, you won’t get scared of the drop!” Micheal may have been mature for his age but it didn’t mean Michael was as well.
“I stay, I not die. I go, I die! Like Selection man!” clearly, Michael had ingrained the memory of his killing and been subconsciously terrified of such a terrible fate.
He jumped through the hole in the wall and ran away.
“Micheal, it’s either him or me buddy! Make your choice then!” Nero felt bad for Micheal, being subjected to such a choice in such a pressurising situation must be mentally exhausting.
However, Micheal had only a slight hesitation before he jumped off Nero and ran behind Michael.
“Go without us, we’ll meet someday I tell ya! Goodbye Nero!” Micheal had a determined and assured look as he exited the pipe room.
‘So, I made some friends, and now they’re gone.’ it was not a sad feeling that came over Nero, it was dissatisfaction and disappointment.
He hesitated, thinking about going with them before giving his body the command to jump.
‘It doesn’t matter, things come and go, so do people. It’s alright, this world is different, I don’t need 300 years to build absolute strength like I did in the other universe.’
To satisfy himself of his conditions to become absolute in the future, he would need to give up more than everything, it would take more than everything to get to that level.
‘Nova, give me visualisation for the glider and set a course to get out of Saestro and into Vake Lao. Bring Nova up and running again.’
.Acknowledged.
Nero chose to avoid settling down nearby or heading to his initial destination for two reasons respectively: Safety, even for him, was not assured in Saestro, and Nero knew that the Captain had already informed Nordon Empire of his existence and, probably, sent out a distress signal with his long-ranged communicator.
A communicator was a rune with an inscription carving that used Beast cores to function. There were all kinds of inscription runes ranging from battle runes to farming runes. Nero knew of these stones and their immense value to the common, even the Captain only had a mid-tier communication rune that sent only audio over a magical frequency, with the benefit of low Beast core, or the power source, usage.

As for why Nero chose to travel over Kystra, one of the central major powers, and into Vake Lao was related to runes, Vake Lao was, and had a history of being, the greatest Empire in terms of inventions.
It also suited him as the Nation was full of Humans, sub-humans, and Sunmeisers, the descendants of the creators of the Empire, with, what was thought to be, no discrimation between any of the races.
The main reason for this free nation was the power that each race group held, each had the backing of a Demon level power and around a dozen Slayer generals that kept peace with each other.
In comparison to other powers, it may not seem much however, their runic knowledge was unparalleled in all of Mainland!
Nobody messed with the Vake Lao, their ancient runes were far above the peak-tier Slayer range, going into low-tier Demon and even Great-low Demon range!
‘Seems like our cute little user escaped grave danger by the skin of his teeth again! I did some scans so don’t worry, they didn’t seem to care for the falling children, but that’s okay! Fortunately for the duo that left us, they’re being captured and not killed, that’s a plus!’
Nova immediately began to yap her virtual mouth incessantly as soon as she woke up from her dormant state and processed all that happened during then.
‘Yeah yeah, whatever. Can you deduce approximately how far we are from Vake Lao?’
‘Acknowledged. Using the old map’s scaling ratio as well as the known distance between the user and Nordon Empire as well as the distance between Nordon Empire and Vake Lao… Estimated distance: 23,000 Km. Calculating detour length and adding it to the total: 25,000 Km.
‘Estimated time taken when taking total travel time per day as three hours: ~80 days.’
‘Great, set the route to Slayer level difficulty, I ain’t having any of that pussy shit let’s go.’ Nero coolly swerved and swooshed past the clouds, only a few minutes ago, he’d avoided detection from Saestro airforces by using the clouds as cover.
To them, Nero was only a boy falling from the sky that would only take too much effort to save.
Finally, Nero had broken free from his restrictions and become a free man with his own will!
With his initially high altitude, Nero travelled much farther than he could if he started from the ground and went up, he also didn’t need to use airsteps to get high into the air, making his mana usage much lower.
Gradually as time went by, Nero became increasingly tired and after 4 hours, he’d reached the altitude of tall trees and desperately needed rest.
