Devoured Eccentric - 52 Foundation
Speaking in terms of specs, Nero’s body had way worse specifications for a mage compared to the average Slayer. He had way less pores on his body, though he could compensate for that with his breathing technique that let him breathe mana out of his body much faster, the amount of mana he refined was much lower in quantity which he currently had no way to compensate for and could let time handle the issue as he grew older, and the greatest of all, the mental pressure on his growing brain which, even with brain cultivation, didn’t let him compare to the little load a fully developed brain had to endure.
Even with all of these disadvantages, Nero could slap a Slayer senseless because of his great advantages that vastly outweighed the disadvantages, first and foremost of all, he had Nova, second, he had knowledge that he applied into his mana manipulation, structuring. Third, his visual reflexes were unmatched, or at least he though so.
Fourth, he cultivated his body with great efficiency, making him physically stronger than any of the Slayers that had advanced recently.
Moreover, it was confirmed he had Demon level potential and a great length of time to build up his foundation.
Foundation was of great importance to a mage or cultivator in this world, one’s foundation could only be built up during their mortal lifespan, 100 years.
After that, unless something miraculous occurs, there is no gain in foundation.
One’s foundation was of the greatest importance to a mage or cultivator after survival. Even if one had the lowest of potential, if their foundation was sufficient, even they could become a Demon!
There were many things that came together to be called foundation, one’s resources and wealth are also a part of this.
Nero’s future prospects were endless because of the time he had to accumulate a great foundation, he had 90+ Years!
The Slayer stage greatly differed from Hunters stage, what mattered more than talent here was foundation. For this particular reason, Nero had had no growth or progress on the magical path since he became a Slayer.
Luckily for Nero, he’d learned the first step to gain foundation from the Captain, wealth.
‘Sub-quest created: Wealth abound!
‘The system will shift its focus onto helping the user gain valuables and become a dragon among men!’
While Nero was thinking of all this, he had already landed on top of thick canopy and created himself a solidified rubbery bed made of Basic mana, then dumped a large haul of thick green leaves on top to keep him from collapsing and phasing through his mana.
Even the problem of food was resolved since he’d caught thick bird the size of a grown chicken with sharp feathers while he descended his way down.
A simple formation of a disc around its neck had sealed its fate.
Instead of decapitation, the chicken bird’s neck was crushed until it choked on fractured pieces from its spinal cord.
Nero was immediately overcome with exhaustion as soon as he hit his makeshift bed, Nova promptly removing the exhaustion gauge on his mind to let him drift into dreams immediately.
All in all, Nero had covered over 500 km on his first day, which was an astounding amount seeing as he only travelled for 4 hours.
‘I’ll fly under the clouds so I can spot civilisation and find out more about Kystra. I’m not going deep into their land so I doubt I’ll find much but its better than nothing.’
Nero started planning as soon as he woke up, he kept thinking of the best ways to approach officials that knew the good stuff and etc as he chomped into the smoked chicken bird.
He had lost all of his large belongings, only being left with two 100g bars of ether, 5 golden Ruby, and his scythe. He was happy he chose to pick up his fanny pack, at least he had some kind of wealth to his name that he could use to gain more.
After refreshing himself, Nero used airsteps to gain altitude and once again set off.
About half an hour in, Nero encountered something of a dead-zone. Air stood at a complete standstill and the scene below was a devastating dry land, the shift between lush greenery and arid nothingness gave Nero eery vibes.

If it wasn’t for the momentum his body carried, he would’ve for sure been in danger from the desert below…
Only forty minutes after his first encounter with a dead-zone, Nero came across yet another dead-zone, a much larger one this time.
Fortunately, he had been cautious enough to gain altitude so his momentum would carry him forward over any other dangerous zone, even one as big as this.
He had come quite close to the ground as he was finished gliding over the dead-zone, he had a relatively detailed view of what lay in the arid land below.
He’d noticed a few sharp bony protrusions from the ground, both large and small, that moved in and out of the sand, growing alert and more cautious as he imagined the underground creatures that were hidden from sight.
Immediately after crossing the dead-zone, he gained altitude with airsteps and, from the corner of his eye, saw a frightening scene.
A large hairy bird that was flying lower than him, started to shoot down into the desert. Running out of luck, he landed perfectly in a circle of protrusions.
Then, with a sudden rummage of noise, the bird’s surroundings grew like a valley. It was too late for the bird to make a move as Valley growing around it was filled with bony protrusions and surge in from all directions.
Chomp.
All Nero saw was the bird being drowned in a sets of giant teeth, never to see the light of day again.
‘It’s a massive Earthworm! That was a rank 2 beast that bird… It lost its life before it even knew it, such is the nature of life.’ Nero was lost in wonder at the display of such might!
‘There will come one day when I hold such strength at my command, devolving those against me into what they could only call a horrifying nightmare!’
