Devoured Eccentric - 53 Kara City
‘Finally! Traces of settlement! I’ll land nearby and ask the people here. We’ve flown a few hundred miles into Kystra so it would be surprising if there wasn’t any settlement armed with military power.’
Not having some sort of defence at the border would be odd, to say the least, for an aspiring nation such as Kystra. Nero landed down to the ground with some experience and begin to move with great speed through the woods, the sounds of his footsteps matching to a fast 4-beat metronome.
Not long later, after furrowing past the unusually normal forest a clearing came with country houses patched here and there. In the dying light, smoke from a few chimneys wafting out started to show.
This was the countryside of Kara, the empty cleared land was either being reared or being used for agriculture. Of course, Nero did not know of the city’s name but he knew he was in something like the countryside.
By the time the trio of moons hung overhead, Nero had reached the deeper portion of Kara.
The city was based on plain lands and, much like cities on plains, had low rising buildings that were spotted in blocks.
The need for solid road was little, grazed land with little dust and rain gave the place great living conditions. What Nero had never expected was that the cityscape was refined much like a city from Earth in the 2000s!
Well-roofed houses, corner shops, big retail stores! Quite a hit it was for Nero once again finding such an excellent replication of Earth.
‘Oh my GOD, are those cars? What the fuck is this design?! Slick is not the first word that comes to mind holy shit!’ Nero looked at a vehicle shaped similar to the head of a steam engine train while cursing at its awful look.
Thankfully, it didn’t give out nearly the same amount of noise or steam from its snout. All it did was smoothly sail across the even land while the passerby stopped in their tracks to glare at the vehicle in envy.
“That’s an Automobile! I’m so jealous of this rich brat that’s probably having the time of his life in there!”
Auto-carriages were usually the norm before an inventor name Joy Windell shocked the world with blueprints of a new type of transportation, an Automobile!
With the funding he received from his pitch, he even established a production factory 2 years ago. However, since production needed a long time for each of these vehicles, only 23 exist!
Kara City has 3 of these seen on streets, all of them owned by the richest of the rich, the top one percent of the top one percent.
The onlookers were filled with intense jealousy whereas Nero was ridiculing with great contempt at whoever rode that disgustingly created object.
‘At least its fast, seems like the engine is well designed at least, for this era of course. On Earth, cruising at Mach 1 was the very minimum for me.’
With Nero’s ability and knowledge, he could any day build a land vehicle far greater in terms of speed, efficiency, and most of all, design.
‘It seems like the inevitable revolution is here,’
Nero diverted his focus from the crappy version of Thomas the Tank Engine and looked over to the tall well-lit building a mile away and started making his way to see what was up.
Nobody knew Nero was a child seeing as he had grown an inch again, which didn’t make much difference but he seemed to think so, and stayed hooded since the beginning.
On his way, he had seen a few large-sized stores for Magic stones, the staple substitute of electronics of this world. Nero had also been informed that a Magic stone was an inferior version of Runic stones, stones used by inscription masters to imbue an ability onto a small pebble that ran on Demon cores.
Magic stones were a ‘need’. Boilers only existed because of stones that could produce heat, sound, movement, and could perform many other functions.
He had already visited a pawn shop, all kinds of shops existed in the shopping centre, and sold one of his Golden Ruby for the currency used here, Cardin.
In fact, Cardin was the basic currency accepted almost everywhere in Mainland.
Since
the keeper of the shop treated his coin with great value, Nero had received a sum great enough to live with leisure for at least a few months.
In numerical value, it was 3800 Cardin. Nero had found that magic stones relatively expensive, starting at 10C and going up to a 100C for the quality, rarity, use and size.
Soundstones, repeaterstones, were at the bottom of the tier, cloudstones that the King of Pinnacle wore as his set of ‘shoes’, or what one might call them, and then at the top were steamstones and power-based stones.
Because most of the higher tier stones needed Beast cores or some sort of power source to get energy for the output, Beast cores had become a form of their own type of currency among the middle class.
Some companies provided Rank 3 and sometimes even Rank 4 Beast cores to families and took the amount they used of that core, essentially like an electricity providing company. Nero had already guessed from the Earthworm incident that Rank 4 beasts were definitely not as rare here as they were thought to be on Plumon. He reckoned the Earthworm was either Rank 4 high to Rank 5 low tier.

Pulling his mind out of his own head, Nero entered ‘Stoner’, the Magic stone shop, and bought 5 High-quality soundstones, 4 repeaterstones, the small-sized soundstones, a high-quality cinderstone kit, a vacuumstone, and lastly a top-notch chillerstone.
He also bought a jar and 25 litre bag.
He now had everything he needed to take his first step towards accumulating immense wealth, and after checking the pagoda-shaped building mostly made for Martial artists, the Ki users, he was off once again on a great beast hunt!
