Did Not Say Anything About My Feelings - Chapter 15. I Know Now
***
Lin Ye’s group was A Group of ‘Eye of the Typhoon’, and their training room was in the classroom of Class A.
The morning after they finished grouping up, the six people in the team gathered in the classroom to decide the task allocation within the group.
There was no doubt that Lin Ye would have the Centre position, and in the remaining five people, there were still four positions to fight for. Someone suggested that Jiang Lian take up the Leader position as well. Lin Ye and the others had no objection, but Jiang Lian directly said that he would not take up the position.
The position of the leader could only be left empty for now, and the remaining five people competed for the position of main vocalist and main dancer. Wen Mian and Qi Huan both wanted the main singer position, and both showed off their high notes on the spot.
After everyone finished discussing, Wen Mian was chosen as the main vocalist since he was comparatively more stable. After that, the role of the main dancer was given to Yan Changfei, who was in charge of dance, and the rap part of the song was given to Cheng Chi, who was in charge of rap.
During this whole process, Lin Ye did not say a word. He knew that he is the one with the lowest rating among the six of them, and the position of the main vocalist or main dancer would never end up with him. He simply wanted to make use of this opportunity to slowly remember the names and faces of the other four people.
Among the other five people in his group, besides Jiang Lian, he was not familiar with the other four. He was slowly recalling that he had seen three of the four of them before.
Wen Mian was the one who had taught him about how to trick the tears of fans. During the first rating, he had been in Class D with Lin Ye, but after the recent evaluation, he had gone up from Class D to Class A. Cheng Chi and Qi Huan were the ones that had pushed him onto Jiang Lian’s leg yesterday while they were fooling around.
While Lin Ye did not know the remaining person, Yan Changfei, he had heard of this name from his roommates. The three days before the theme song evaluation, Yan Changfei was always the last trainee to leave the classroom.
It was the same every day.
If the mentors wanted to choose the Center position simply based on how hardworking the trainee is and how long the trainee spent training, Yan Changfei would definitely be the first place.
He returned to his senses and heard the other four discussing who to choose as the leader. Yan Changfei suggested that they choose the leader between the remaining two, Lin Ye and Qi Huan. Cheng Chi and Wen Mian nodded in agreement.
Jiang Lian said coldly, “We don’t need groupmates who just want to muddle along. The leader position will be given to the person who spent the least time practicing when we were supposed to learn the theme song so that he can urge himself to not be lazy during practice while he makes sure everyone else practices.”
When everyone heard those words, they paused for a moment before they all turned to look at Lin Ye, and the C by his waist.
Lin Ye hesitated for a moment, but in the end, he could not stand
Jiang Lian did not agree or disagree, he simply said mildly, “We’ll know after we count the hours.”
The final result was as expected. Yan Changfei’s practice time was the longest, Lin Ye’s practice time was the shortest. What was worse was that Yan Changfei’s practice time more than double Lin Ye’s practice time.
Wen Mian teased him, “As expected, diligence and hard work are closely related.”
Lin Ye was speechless, but he was unable to continue explaining himself.
Jiang Lian threw the leader badge into his arms, “If no one has any objections, the leader will be him.”
Wen Mian nodded and said, “I don’t mind. I want to make a suggestion so that we can help our leader grow more.”
Lin Ye looked at him when he heard those words, having a bad feeling that something was about to happen.
As expected, he heard the other say, “I suggest that every morning from now on, the leader will be in charge of waking us up.”
Lin Ye felt his head ache a little. He turned around and saw the other three raise both hands to show their agreement. He turned to look at Jiang Lian, refusing to give up, but he saw that Jiang Lian’s brow was slightly raised and he agreed, “This suggestion is not bad.”
Lin Ye immediately regretted entering Jiang Lian’s group.
The difficult part about the song ‘Eye of the Typhoon’ was the dance movements. After the few of them looked at the teaching video, they decided to practice the singing portion first.
The singing and dancing abilities of the others were not bad. Only Lin Ye’s singing and dancing abilities were average or worse than average, so his learning progress lagged behind the others. He stood up and sat by the wall, looking at the lyrics alone as he tried to memorize them.
The members of Team B that were opposite Lin Ye’s team was also practicing their singing. Several different voices that were low one moment and high the next instantly entered his ear, causing him to be unable to completely concentrate on his task.
He was distracted by the voices and was feeling slightly frustrated. Lin Ye raised his head to lean on the wall, and opened the lyrics book in his hand, putting it on his face and covering it, isolating him from the outside world.
In the darkness, he slowly calmed down. Lin Ye remembered the lyrics he had looked at many times.
The window above his head was pushed open by someone outside and someone reached his hand in to take the lyrics book away from his face.
Light suddenly entered his eyes and Lin Ye could not help but squint his eyes.
A familiar voice sounded from above his head, “Lin Ye, are you lazing around again?”
Lin Ye raised his eyes and saw Xia Dongchan holding the lyrics book in one hand, leaning on the window sill and looking at him.
Lin Ye raised his hand to take the lyrics book. He opened his mouth and said, “I’m memorizing my lyrics. Why did you come here?”
Xia Dongchan tilted his head, “Then you can continue. I just came here to take a look.”
As expected, Lin Ye did not look at him again. After closing his eyes, he covered his face with the lyrics book again.
However, Xia Dongchan did not leave, after a moment, he lowered his hand to grab the lyric book covering his face.
Lin Ye frowned as he grabbed the other’s hand in his palm. He repeated what he said, stressing every word, “I’m memorizing the lyrics.”
However, he heard the owner of the hand ask lightly, “Are you preparing to memorize the lyrics in your dream?”
Lin Ye’s eyelids twitched, and the lyrics book fell from his face. When he opened his eyes, he saw that he was tightly grabbing one of Jiang Lian’s hands.
Jiang Lian landed on his hand that was being grabbed by Lin Ye, “Let go.”
Lin Ye hurriedly let go and picked up the lyrics book from the floor next to him, refusing to look at the other, “I thought you were Xia Dongchan.”
Jiang Lian did not continue asking about that matter and simply asked Lin Ye, “Do you know how to sing the song?”
Lin Ye was stunned and instinctively replied, “I know how to sing it.”
Jiang Lian said, “Sing it once for me to hear.”
Lin Ye flipped open the lyrics book in his hands and looked at the lyrics as he sang the part that he had been assigned.
Jiang Lian’s expression did not change much, “Do you know what your biggest problem is?”
Lin Ye thought for a moment, then repeated the words that Jiang Lian had said in the small classroom word-for-word, “I can’t sing high notes.”
Jiang Lian shook his head, his fingertip landing on the high notes in the song, “These few parts have been given to Wen Mian, so the high notes aren’t your biggest problem at the moment.”
“You have issues with your breathing, Lin Ye,” Jiang Lian frowned, not holding back at all as he said, “I chose you to enter this team not for you to drag us down.”
Lin Ye fell silent when he heard those words.
Jiang Lian glanced at him, “Lean against the wall and sit properly.”
Lin Ye did as he instructed.
“Straighten your back,” Jiang Lian raised his hand and touched Lin Ye’s back, “Waist and back against the wall.”
Lin Ye instantly straightened his back, sticking his back and waist to the wall, then raised his head to look at Jiang Lian.
Jiang Lian knelt with one knee on the ground, his palm covering Lin Ye’s belly, separated only by a class uniform. “Now, breathe in, then breathe out slowly. In this whole process, make sure your waist and your back are against the wall. Your stomach should be bulging outwards and not shrinking inwards.”
Lin Ye did not say anything and followed Jiang Lian’s instructions. He first breathed in, then slowly breathed out. After he did this action repeatedly, he raised his head and looked questioningly towards Jiang Lian, whose expression he remained the same this whole time.
Jiang Lian did not say anything, but rolled up Lin Ye’s uniform and directly pressed his hot palm on Lin Ye’s stomach.
Lin Ye could not help shivering at his waist. He was unable to hold his breath and his stomach shrunk inwards.
Jiang Lian moved his hand away, “Remember this feeling. From now on, do this practice every day.”
Lin Ye nodded absentmindedly. He saw the shadows of other trainees walking back and forth from the corner of his eyes and reached out to pull his shirt down.
However, Jiang Lian was faster and helped him tidy up his clothes, raising his lips saying, “So you have abs.”
When Lin Ye heard those words, he asked back, “Don’t you have abs too?”
Jiang Lian asked back mildly, “Do you really want to know whether I have abs or not?”
Lin Ye patted off the dust that had gotten on his knees, his two hands placed on the ground as he tried to stand up, “Forget it, I don’t really want to know—”
He had yet to finish speaking before the other pulled him back down by grabbing on his wrist so that Lin Ye was kneeling in front of Jiang Lian.
Jiang Lian’s expression did not change at all, but he held onto Lin Ye’s hand and reached under his own shirt.
Lin Ye maintained his posture of leaning forward while kneeling, a hand on the floor and the other hand on Jiang Lian’s hard abdomen. He heard the other speak slowly and carelessly, “Have you finished counting? How many abs I have.”
Lin Ye’s face heated up.
At that moment, he heard Wen Mian’s hesitant voice ringing out, “… What are you two doing?”
Lin Ye turned his head around instantly and saw the stunned look on the other’s face.
The next moment, Jiang Lian let go of him and stood up, “I was teaching him about how to use the breathing method to train his breathing. He doesn’t know how to, so I was giving him a demonstration,” He paused for a moment and looked towards Lin Ye, “Do you know how to do it now?”
After a short moment of silence, Lin Ye slowly raised his eyes and said, “I know now.”
