Did Not Say Anything About My Feelings - Chapter 21. Power Failure
Lin Ye hesitated, “Now?”
Jiang Lian answered casually, “If you want, you can treat it as you owe me for now.”
Lin Ye let out a breath of relief. He smiled and said sincerely, “Treat it as I owe you for now.”
After that, the two of them returned to the classroom. The other four members in their group had yet to leave. Jiang Lian called everyone over and informed them about him helping Lin Ye sing the background vocals. In the end, the reason he threw out was: ‘Assisting team members is very important’.
The four of them did not suspect that anything was wrong with his words. After they ended the meeting, everyone went their separate ways and headed to the canteen to eat dinner. Ming Rang had also finished his team’s practice session and left with Jiang Lian.
Before he left, Wen Mian asked Lin Ye, “Are you going?”
Lin Ye looked at the time, “I’ll wait for Xia Dongchang and go with him.”
Wen Mian nodded and left with Yan Changfei.
The classroom suddenly became empty. Lin Ye closed the windows that were facing the corridor and went to the inner windowsill to grab his down jacket, planning on going over to Xia Dongchan’s classroom to have a look.
As he grabbed his jacket, Lin Ye noticed the magazine again. Lin Ye was stunned before he remembered what had happened in the afternoon. He grabbed his jacket and sat by the window sill, pulling on the curtain on the left to cover himself before he opened the magazine.
One side of the note was blank but the other side had words. He thought that it was a paper that Jiang Lian had left behind. He flipped to the side of the paper with words but recognized instantly that the words on the paper were not written by Jiang Lian.
Actually, he had only seen Jiang Lian’s handwriting once when he had just moved into the dormitory. Jiang Lian had written Lin Ye’s name. However, he remembered Jiang Lian’s handwriting very well.
The handwriting on the paper was too different from Jiang Lian’s.
The image of Jiang Lian using the magazine as a pillow to rest on appeared in his mind. Since it wasn’t written by Jiang Lian, this note was probably written for Jiang Lian. However, he did not know if Jiang Lian himself has seen this paper.
Someone wanted to meet Jiang Lian in private.
He stared at the time and location written on the paper, thoughts wandering. The hundred trainees stayed in one hostel building, and they even trained together in the same building. What could they not say in person and in public?
Lin Ye was a little curious.
After he quietly muttered the timing two days later that had been written on it, he tore the note into shreds and held it in his hand. After that, he grabbed his jacket and jumped down from the windowsill, wanting to place the magazine back on the floor of the small classroom.
Suddenly, someone called his name from behind him.
Lin Ye was feeling guilty. Therefore, when he heard his name, his eyelids trembled and he pretended to be calm as he turned around. He saw Xia Dongchan standing by the door and waving his hand at him to call him over.
Lin Ye slowly let out a breath of relief as he walked towards Xia Dongchan, “You’ve ended already?”
“Yes, we’ve ended practice,” Xia Dongchan rested against the doorframe of the classroom, his expression strange, “Where did you come from? I was standing at the window of the classroom just now, but after I looked around the whole classroom, I couldn’t see you.”
“I was by the windowsill,” Lin Ye raised his hand and pointed towards the windowsill, “I was probably covered by the curtains.”
Xia Dongchan understood, but at that moment, his gaze landed on the magazine in his hand, “You read this too?”
When Lin Ye heard those words, he raised his eyebrows, “Who else reads this magazine?”
“Li Yuan,” Xia Dongchan frowned, “We picked the same song for the team competition this time, so we normally practice in the same classroom. You know that his character on stage is very similar to mine, so I take extra notice of him. I saw that he placed several copies of this magazine in the practice room.”
“Is that so?” Lin Ye acted like he just remembered and added, “I don’t read this magazine. I picked it up in the classroom. Give me a moment, I’ll put it back now.”
After eating dinner, the most hardworking person in the group, Main Dancer Yan organized extra practice for everyone for two hours. Everyone responded enthusiastically and worked hard in the practice room, sweating a lot and using a lot of energy.
At 10 p.m., suddenly the whole building they were training in had a power failure.
At that time, Lin Ye and the rest were practicing their formation. The six of them were standing before the floor-length mirror in an inverted triangle formation.
After the interlude, Lin Ye, who was standing in the middle of the front row needed to retreat quickly from the middle while Cheng Chi and Wen Mian, who were standing beside Lin Ye, needed to retreat from their place at the external part of the formation. Meanwhile, Qi Huan and Yan Changfei who were standing at the two ends, as well as Jiang Lian who was standing at the center of the back row needed to move in front, returning the team formation to a triangle.
It was quite a big formation change.
The six of them listened to the music attentively. The instant the ending notes disappeared, everyone started to move.
However, the music suddenly stopped and all the rooms on that floor, as well as the corridor, were plunged into darkness. Even the four cameras at the corners of the classroom stopped moving.
It was so dark that when they stretched out their hand, they were unable to see their fingers.
Their positioning instantly became messy and Qi Zui gave a sharp scream in fear, Lin Ye’s stepped in the wrong place, stepping on the toes of the person behind him.
Someone reached out to hold his waist and stabilized him. Lin Ye had a slight nervous breakdown and instinctively raised his head to look at the floor-length mirror in front.
In the mirror, besides darkness, there was nothing. Lin Ye had yet to relax when the chest of the person behind him came close and touched his back. Lips came close to his ear and the person said in a low voice, “Move your feet.”
By his ear, the voices of the others lingered for a long time. Lin Ye could tell that it was Jiang Lian’s voice, but he could not hear the content of his words. He turned his head without thinking and asked in a very soft voice, “What is it?”
However, his right face hit Jiang Lian’s lips.
His brain went blank for a moment. He instinctively took a large step to the left, he could feel that the right side of his face was burning in the darkness.
Qi Huan’s frightened voice came again from behind Lin Ye, “Who stepped on my foot?”
Wen Mian, who was nearby first said, “It’s not me.”
The next person to speak was Cheng Chi, “It’s not me.”
After that, it was Yan Changfei, “It’s not me.”
After that, Jiang Lian’s voice seemed to come from a little distance away, “It’s not me.”
The last to respond was Lin Ye, who was still in a daze and could only respond out of pure instinct, “…It’s not me either.”
There was a sudden silence in the classroom.
The next second, Qi Huan screamed and jumped onto someone nearby, clinging on the other with his four limbs, his voice was weak and he choked, “But, there are only six people in our classroom.”
The people around him, with Lin Ye standing in the center, quickly retreated. The only person that was left on the spot without moving, Lin Ye, finally came back to his senses, “I’m sorry, I was wrong. I was probably the one who stepped on you just now.”
The sounds of people letting out a sigh of relief could be heard in the darkness.
The electricity did not come back on after a few minutes and the few of them went out in the dark. They bumped into the other trainees from the other classrooms gathering in the corridor, including Wen Mian and Yan Changfei’s roommate.
Wen Mian asked, “Why did the electricity suddenly stop?”
When his roommate heard his voice, he turned around, “We don’t know the reason. All we know is that there was a power outage across the whole island.”
Yan Changfei said, “Will the electricity be back on by tonight?”
His roommate shook his head, “We don’t know either.”
“If only someone had a phone at this time,” Qi Huan sighed, “We could call the employees to ask about the current situation.”
The others instantly looked at each other.
“I have a phone,” Someone raised a hand in the darkness, “I have a phone, but if I call the staff now, isn’t it basically admitting to the staff that I hid a phone?”
“That’s easy to solve. Which one of you knows how to fake your voice?” Wen Mian smiled meaningfully, “If the staff come and check, we can refuse to admit the truth no matter what. Even if they recorded the call, they won’t be able to check who made the phone call.”
The others started to give their opinions, discussing the feasibility of this method.
They had yet to come to a conclusion when the staff came upstairs holding a flashlight. “There was something wrong with the circuits on the island, which resulted in the whole circuit system failing. Go back to your hostel, take a shower, and sleep. There is an emergency power supply for the dormitory.
The trainees nodded their heads obediently and returned to their respective classrooms to take their things.
Lin Ye and Yan Changfei returned to their classroom to get the down jacket the six of them had removed and put on the windowsill. While they were getting the clothes, it seemed like something had been shaken off and landed by the windowsill, making a slight sound. However, it was very dark in the classroom and the two of them were in a rush to leave, so they did not care too much.
After the power failure, the corridor was dark and cold. It was too difficult to identify their clothes and everyone simply put on any jacket in the dark.
The moment he put on the jacket, the familiar fragrance of a shower gel surrounded Lin Ye. He immediately realized that the jacket he was wearing belonged to Jiang Lian.
The six of them walked out of the building. Cheng Chi and Qi Huan headed to the supermarket to buy daily necessities while the remaining four headed back to their hostels with only the moonlight lighting their way. Wen Mian and Yan Changfei walked side by side in front while Lin Ye and Jiang Lian walked slowly at the back.
When the cold air blew in his face, Lin Ye instinctively put on the hood behind his coat and buried his face in the down jacket, taking a deep breath as he smelled the fragrance on the jacket.
After he took a deep breath, he suddenly remembered that since Jiang Lian did not like sharing chopsticks with others, he might also not like sharing clothes with other people.
He raised his head from the jacket, “What shower gel do you use? It leaves such a strong scent for such a long time.”
Jiang Lian glanced at him and understood, “You’re wearing my jacket?”
Lin Ye asked, “Do you want to exchange jackets now?”
Jiang Lian’s tone was mild, “When we return to the dormitories, remove it and hand it to me.
Lin Ye agreed before muttering to himself, “I don’t know who wore my clothes…”
Finally, he suddenly remembered that his dormitory keys were still in his down jacket. His heart sank and he stopped walking, raising this gaze to look at Jiang Lian’s back. Jiang Lian had already walked ahead. “Do you have keys in your pocket?”
Jiang Lian stopped walked and turned around, meeting his gaze, “What’s the matter?”
“I put my room keys in the pocket of my jacket,” Lin Ye said.
Jiang Lian opened his arms slightly and stood on the spot calmly, looking at Lin Ye, “Come and check it yourself.”
Lin Ye frowned and walked forward, his two hands landing on the pockets of the jacket. When he touched both pockets, they were empty with nothing inside them.
He frowned even more and took out his two in disappointment, “There’s nothing.”
Jiang Lian simply responded, “It’s fine even if you lose it.”
Lin Ye looked at him when he heard those words, “If I lose my key, what if my roommates aren’t in the room? How will I return to my room?”
Jiang Lian said, “The power is down now. Where else can your roommates go besides staying in the room?”
Lin Ye did not speak.
“Don’t worry,” Jiang Lian said lightly, “The key should be in someone else’s pocket.”
Lin Ye started to ponder if he should go back to look for it.
Seeing that he did not respond, Jiang Lian seemed to finally lose his patience and raise his eyebrows coldly, “If you aren’t leaving, I’ll go first.”
The other said those words and actually stuffed his hands in his pocket and walk forward, no longer turning around and waiting for him.
Lin Ye instinctively took a step forward to follow him, but immediately returned to his senses. It was not like he was a little girl that needed someone to accompany him when he walked back at night. Why did he need to follow him eagerly?
He turned around and walked in the direction he had come from. He had only walked two steps when he realized that he did not have anything to light the way with him. Even if he went back, it would be a wasted trip. Thus, he changed his mind at the last minute and decided to turn around to look for Wen Mian and Yan Changfei to ask them about his keys.
The moment he turned around, someone grabbed onto his wrist.
“How about you return to the dormitory first?” Jiang Lian squinted at him in the moonlight, “If they don’t have your keys in the pocket, I’ll go back with you and look for it.”
