Did Not Say Anything About My Feelings - Chapter 29. Who Is
Three hours later, he woke up with a sense of loss, and what he saw was Jiang Lian’s familiar face. The first sentence he heard was Jiang Lian’s ‘you’ve overslept’.
Lin Ye had finally recalled what he had forgotten to do before he fell asleep. He forgot to set his alarm at an earlier time. His short hair was messy as he climbed out from under his covers. He knelt on the bed and looked at Jiang Lian, a little sleepiness at the corner of his eyes, “How did you come in here? Who opened the door for you?”
Jiang Lian smiled gently, “You’re the one who opened the door for me.”
Lin Ye did not understand, his expression was one of confusion, “When did I get off my bed to open the door for you?”
Jiang Lian glanced at him, raising his hand to hook at the keys in his hands, “When you came back yesterday, the keys were stuck in the keyhole and were not removed.”
Lin Ye was instantly speechless. He could not remember doing that at all. He stopped thinking more about it and turned around to sit at the bedside. He reached out to fold his blanket and his two slender and long legs were dangling from the side of the bed. He started to swing them back and forth.
Jiang Lian stood by the bed and took a look at him. He calmly raised a hand to hold Lin Ye’s feet.
The warmth from the other’s palm slowly moved upwards from his lower limb and Lin Ye’s movements suddenly paused. He lowered his head to look at Jiang Lian, his expression still one of confusion, “What’s the matter?”
Jiang Lian let go, “You were about to kick me.”
Lin Ye nodded his head and properly retracted his legs to the bed. He stared at the folded blankets in front of him quietly but did not seem like he was about to get off the bed and clean himself up.
When Jiang Lian realized that Lin Ye had probably not woken up yet, Jiang Lian frowned, his tone a little cold, “Do you know what we need to do today?”
Lin Ye slowly turned his head towards Jiang Lian, his mind blank for a moment before he finally returned to his senses. He realized that he was not seventeen years old like he was in his dream, and he was no longer hesitating over the choice that would decide his future. Instead, he was about to have his first public performance in less than twenty hours.
His eyes brightened up slowly, and he stopped thinking about the different choices he had in the past and everything else. He climbed out of the bed in an agile manner and went to clean up. Ten minutes later, he put on his loose and warm down feather jacket, and told Jiang Lian, who was sitting on the sofa and waiting for him, “Let’s go.”
Jiang Lian stood up, his gaze flitting past Lin Ye’s bare face, landing on the tips of his hair that were bent upwards, “You didn’t dry your hair before you slept yesterday?”
Lin Ye raised his hand to press on his hair, “I was too sleepy.”
Jiang Lian turned away, “Put on a cap before you leave.”
Lin Ye turned around to look for the baseball cap that the production team gave out. He did not remember where the baseball hat was at all, and only managed to find Jiang Lian’s hat that he had picked up from the small classroom numerous days ago. He held the hat and hesitated, but turned around, testing the waters by exposing the hat to the other’s field of vision.
Jiang Lian glanced at him and did not realize that the hat was his. He simply urged, “If you’ve found it, then let’s go, the other people are in the canteen waiting for you.”
Lin Ye let out a subtle breath of relief. He placed the hat on his head and followed behind Jiang Lian to walk out of the hostel.
His six teammates had already eaten breakfast, and they returned to their training room to train for two hours. After that, they were called over by the staff to change into their performance outfits and put on their makeup. After that, they had to do their stage rehearsal. They had prepared a small-scale performance stage on the island, and it could hold around two thousand audience members. The trainees did not need to leave the island to rehearse and perform. They simply needed to wait for the fans to take the boat and come onto the island.
It was his first time getting stage makeup, and when he finished getting his makeup, he was a little unused to it.
He did not know if it was because of the lighting or his foundation, but his whole face seemed whiter and brighter than usual. His eye makeup was also a light pink color, which was probably to match his light hair color. There was a thin layer of colored glitter around his eyes and his eyes that had eyeliner seemed to be even more energetic than usual. His baby hairs that were usually falling on his forehead had been blow-dried to form a shape that was like a peach-heart shape, exposing his forehead. His outfit was a hoodie that was black and white.
Lin Ye did not feel anything in particular about his appearance, simply thinking that he was so different that he could barely recognize himself.
The staff members walked back and forth in the dressing room, shouting to tell the trainees that if they had finished their make-up and had changed into their performance outfits to get on the bus that would bring them to where they were performing. Lin Ye turned around to find his teammates and happened to see Jiang Lian and Ming Rang, who had just finished their styling, coming out from the room next to him. The two of them had purplish-grey hair, and their darker eyeshadow fit their features, making them look even sharper. Their height made them stand out from everyone around them, and when they walked by, the other trainees glanced at them.
Compared to his current appearance, Lin Ye wanted to have makeup like theirs.
The two of them stopped in front of him. Jiang Lian glanced at his face, but did not talk to him. On the other hand, Ming Rang did not look at him once. Lin Ye wanted to take the initiative to speak to them, but he heard Ming Rang say to Jiang Lian, “You can go over with your groupmates first, I want to wait for the people in my team.””
Jiang Lian nodded and said mildly, “Then I’ll head off first.”
When Ming Rang heard those words, he raised an eyebrow, “Aren’t you going to find your groupmates?”
Jiang Lian calmly raised his lips, he tilted his lower jaw and directed it at Lin Ye, saying, “Isn’t he right here?”
Ming Rang was slightly shocked, he looked around before his gaze finally landed on Lin Ye’s face. Only then did he look like he understood. His gaze looked interested, “Where did this pretty boy come from? Why have I never seen him before?”
Only then did Lin Ye smile, “Did you really not recognize me?”
Ming Rang looked shocked, “I truly didn’t recognize you.
Lin Ye shrugged, “I didn’t recognize myself either.”
Their other teammates were no longer in the dressing room, Jiang Lian and Lin Ye walked out from the dressing room and got on the bus. The bus had only two more seats, and when they got on, the driver directly started the engine and drove off.
The bus drove out of the recording area and drove across half the island before stopping at the back entrance of the performance venue. The trainees pulled aside the curtains of the bus and sat on the bus. The bus door had yet to open and they could already hear the shouts from the fans outside. Many different names were being shouted and no one could hear what was being shouted.
Lin Ye turned his head to glance through the gaps between the curtains. The fans that were raising their LED signs were standing by the two sides of the road, and the security guards that were wearing a dark-colored uniform had their arms spread out, trying their best to stand in front of the fans that were trying to rush forward. Among those holding LED signs and banners, many of them had Jiang Lian and Ming Rang’s names.
But there were none with his name and Lin Ye was not surprised.
Only after the security guards managed to control the situation outside did the driver open the door and let them down. Lin Ye and Jiang Lian sat in the last row and were the last to get off the bus. The moment they got off the bus, the shouts of Jiang Lian’s fans were extremely loud and entered their ears, it was so loud that Lin Ye felt like he was going deaf. However, Jiang Lian’s expression was cold the whole time, he did not smile at the fans like the other fans and walked towards the venue without even turning to look at them, much less smile at them like the other trainees.
The fans were still very enthusiastic, their phones and cameras were facing Jiang Lian with much difficulty and they were quickly clicking on the buttons to take photos.
Lin Ye stepped forward amidst the clicking sounds of the shutter. His expression was calm as he followed behind Jiang Lian. He heard the sound of a young girl next to him asking, “Who’s the little brother following behind Jiang Lian? Is there someone like that in the show? Why don’t I remember seeing him?”
He glanced at the person who spoke from the corner of his eye and was only able to see that the owner of the voice was wearing a long goose-yellow coat.
And that insignificant voice was soon drowned out by the vast supporting shouts of the fans. It did not even leave a trace behind or attract any attention.
It was like it had never appeared.
