Did Not Say Anything About My Feelings - Chapter 49. Two Kisses
Practice ended at ten that night, and while his teammates packed up to return to their rooms to sleep, Lin Ye stood by the window sill, using his towel to wipe his sweat, with no intention of leaving.
His teammates were surprised at his perseverance and said that he was now the most hardworking member of their team in half-teasing, half-praising tones.
Lin Ye was was a little surprised. He had never thought that one day, he would be associated with the words ‘hardworking’. He did not want others to feel that he was not worthy of the position of lead dancer.
Before everyone left, they instructed him, telling him to remember to switch off the lights and close the doors when he left. Lin Ye agreed and after he threw the towel in his hands to the side, he noticed that Jiang Lian was still standing at the doorway, not leaving.
Lin Ye said, “You aren’t going back?”
Jiang Lian did not answer him. Instead, he asked, “What time do you plan on practicing until?”
Lin Ye’s answer was very casual, “Around twelve.”
Jiang Lian nodded his head slightly and did not stay any longer, turning to leave.
There was only Lin Ye left in the classroom. He did not want the camera to record him practicing; instead, he turned around to walk into the small classroom with no cameras.
Lin Ye followed the music, standing in front of the floor-length mirror and going through the movements and the positions twice. However, he was still unable to figure out what the problem was.
He took the tablet from the big classroom and recorded his dancing. Then, he lay on the floor and kept watching the video he recorded.
In the video, his movements were smooth and accurate. He was able to completely and perfectly copy the dance moves of the teacher in the video. Lin Ye looked it over many times but did not know what he had to improve on.
He had no idea how to start. He put down the tablet in his hands and rolled around, lying on the floor. He raised his arm to cover his eyes, recalling the words the dance mentor said over and over again.
His vision was dark for only a short time. Because his face, which was hot because of his sweat was suddenly touched by something cold, someone had taken something icy cold and placed it by his face.
His thoughts were interrupted suddenly and Lin Ye put down his arm, opening his eyes. He saw Jiang Lian, who had left and come back sitting by his side, his legs bent, looking down at Lin Ye from above.
Lin Ye’s expression was one of confusion. He did not even move his face away from the cold thing in Jiang Lian’s hand immediately, “Did you forget something?”
Jiang Lian moved the iced coke in his hand away, raising his eyebrow, “When you said you were practicing for two hours, did you mean lying on the floor for two hours?”
Lin Ye met his gaze and slowly opened his mouth to explain, “I was thinking about what the teacher said.”
Jiang Lian’s gaze moved away from Lin Ye’s face, landing on the tablet that was lying on the floor. He unlocked the tablet and adjusted the video so that it was at the beginning, lightly pressing the play button.
The familiar music started to play from the tablet. Lin Ye turned his head to the side, looking at Jiang Lian, whose gaze was lowered and looking at the video.
Jiang Lian did not watch the whole video. He watched the video past the halfway mark and paused it, telling Lin Ye, “Give me your own comments on your performance.”
Lin Ye did not understand, “What?”
Jiang Lian said, “Critique your video. Whether it’s good or bad, both are fine.”
Lin Ye gave a summary of his thoughts on his performance, confusion appearing in his gaze, “I don’t even know what’s wrong with it.” He could not help but frown, “I slowly practiced the dance by looking at the mentor’s movements and analyzing it bit by bit.”
Seeing how Lin Ye was frowning, Jiang Lian slowly lifted the corner of his lips, his slender fingers bending slightly as he tapped the floor twice, “The problem lies in that.” He stopped smiling, his voice calm with no inflections, “If you copy the dance of other people, you cannot call yourself a person that dances, all you can be called is a robot that dances.”
“A robot has no expressiveness, but you do,” Jiang Lian spoke slowly, his voice clear and powerful, “You can use your dancing to affect your fans.”
“So,” He extended a leg, raising his hand to rest it on the other bent leg, looking towards Lin Ye, “From now, you need to think of a way to affect me with your dance. Do you understand?”
Lin Ye took two seconds to digest the other’s words. Two seconds later, he sat up from the floor, looking at Jiang Lian with a serious expression, “Thank you.”
The latter smiled uncaringly, bending forward to get close to Lin Ye’s face, his voice low and slow, “If you really want to thank me, why don’t you thank me the next time we do it.”
Lin Ye’s body froze.
The months of training and filming on the island were both busy and slow-moving. The occasional banter was also part of what they could enjoy. Jiang Lian stopped after that, slowly backing away.
However, Lin Ye took the initiative to move closer, raising his hands to rest them on Jiang Lian’s shoulders. He kneeled in front of Jiang Lian, telling him, “A physical form of thank you can be done even if we don’t do it.”
“Really?” A hint of surprise slid into Jiang Lian’s gaze. Jiang Lian smiled, “Then, how do you want to thank me?”
Lin Ye’s gaze slowly slid past Jiang Lian’s lips, continuing to slide downwards, resting on Jiang Lian’s pants that were tight because of his sitting position, “Choose one.”
“With your level of skill, you want me to choose?” Jiang Lian smiled, “The first one.” He turned his face to the side, his fingers lightly touching his right cheek. His voice had a hint of interest, “You can just kiss my face.”
Lin Ye froze for a moment, preparing himself mentally. After that, he bent down and lowered his head in a somewhat calm manner, his lips pressing on the side of Jiang Lian’s face that Jiang Lian had touched with his fingers.
A few seconds later, he moved away from the side of Jiang Lian’s face, calmly standing up and saying, “I’m going to practice my dance now.”
Jiang Lian did not raise his head to look at him, simply saying, “Just start.”
He let out a breath of relief and turned around so that his back was facing Jiang Lian. He quietly raised his hand and pressed it on his chest, right above his heart, quietly waiting for his pounding heart to calm down.
It was just a thank you kiss on the cheek. Lin Ye did not know what exactly he was nervous about.
Lin Ye looked at Jiang Lian as he trained for a whole hour. Jiang Lian would occasionally open his mouth to give some tips, and Lin Ye would seriously consider those tips and think of methods to achieve them. He could not tell whether he had any improvements from Jiang Lian’s expression, and could only guess from the number of times the other spoke that he was better than before.
On the run, Jiang Lian helped him record the entire video using his phone. After the music ended, Lin Ye panted loudly as he walked to Jiang Lian and sat down. He felt uneasy as he took the phone from Jiang Lian.
He could clearly see from the video that with the same dance moves and the same environment, the aura he was emitting was already very obviously different.
There was still a while before the public performance, he still had some time and could get better. While he relaxed a little, Lin Ye thought of that.
Jiang Lian threw the coke that was placed at the side into Lin Ye’s arms.
Lin Ye returned to his senses, holding the can of coke and turning his head to the side to ask, “It’s for me?”
Jiang Lian held the other can of already-opened coke in his hand, raising an eyebrow and saying mildly, “Is there a third person present here?”
Lin Ye smiled and thanked him, lowering his gaze to open the coke in his hand. He saw that Jiang Lian had already raised his head and drank a mouthful from the corner of his eyes. He instinctively turned his head around, his gaze lingering on the deep features of Jiang Lian’s side profile.
Just an hour ago, he had kissed that place.
Lin Ye thought carelessly, about to move his gaze away quietly. However, when he saw the coke in Jiang Lian’s hand from the corner of his eyes, he froze.
He looked over, calmly opening his mouth, “What are you drinking?”
Jiang Lian said, “Beer.”
Lin Ye’s expression was complicated, “I’m already of age.”
Jiang Lian was expressionless, “So?”
Lin Ye narrowed his eyes, “Why did you buy alcohol for yourself but coke for me?”
Jiang Lian lightly shook the can of beer in his hand, opening his mouth to ask Lin Ye, “You want to drink this?”
Lin Ye did not speak, directly extending his hand toward Jiang Lian.
Jiang Lian did not move, and the expression on his face wasn’t obvious, there was only a pair of dark and good-looking eyes lightly gazing at Lin Ye as if he were examining Lin Ye or thinking about something.
Lin Ye pressed his lips together, “I want to drink a bit.”
Jiang Lian looked away, placing the beer in his hand by his mouth, raising his head to drink another mouthful before he passed it to Lin Ye.
Lin Ye reached out his hand to take the can but felt that the weight of the can was extremely light. He instinctively shook it but did not hear the sound of any liquid moving.
Jiang Lian had drunk the last bit of alcohol.
He was a little speechless, returning the empty can in his hand to Jiang Lian. Jiang Lian reached out to take it, and when he saw that the other’s fingers had touched the can, Lin Ye let go.
But Jiang Lian let go of the can at the same time.
The empty can fell onto the ground, making a loud sound as it hit the floor. After that, it started to roll away.
Lin Ye raised his head in shock.
Jiang Lian pulled Lin Ye close, the sound of the rolling can in the background. Then, he lowered his head and pressed his lips onto Lin Ye’s.
Lin Ye’s thoughts suddenly disappeared and his brain was empty.
Jiang Lian’s soft tongue had already squeezed between Lin Ye’s lips, pushing open his teeth and pouring the alcohol in his mouth to Lin Ye’s mouth.
There was a strong taste of alcohol on his lips and Lin Ye had yet to even swallow the beer in his mouth when his tongue was entangled with Jiang Lian’s.
The beer slowly flowed out from the corner of Lin Ye’s lips, wetting his jaw and neck, dripping onto his collarbone before evaporating into the atmosphere, leaving a faint beer stain on his white skin.
