Did Not Say Anything About My Feelings - Chapter 50. Shocking Scandal
The two of them stayed in the practice room until past midnight. Because it was something impromptu, they did not do it the whole way. Jiang Lian helped Lin Ye using his hand, while Jiang Lian rubbed himself against Lin Ye’s body.
Despite that, perhaps it was because he had used too much energy from dance practice, Lin Ye was covered in sweat. He was completely exhausted as if they had done it just now.
After they cleaned up the practice room, the two of them returned to their hostel rooms to shower and sleep.
When they woke up the next morning, Lin Ye felt like his eyelids were as heavy as lead, and his legs felt like they were strapped in under the blankets, unable to move.
However, he had to climb up and go to the practice room. Seeing that the public performance date was getting closer and closer, the amount of time the trainees spent in the practice room increased at a rapid pace.
He had roommates who left the room before the sky even turned bright, leaving behind the few of them who slept until sunrise to get up and look at their roommates’ neat beds and do a self-reflection. This was something that they were already used to.
Lin Ye lowered his head and stood next to the sink to gargle. Xia Dongchan walked past him from behind and could not help but take a second look at him, “Are your eyes swollen from sleep?”
He rubbed his slightly swollen eyes, toothpaste in his mouth as he said in a muffled voice, “Probably.”
Xia Dongchan said, “I have spectacles, do you want them?”
Lin Ye said that he wanted them.
The other turned around to look through his storage cupboard. He found a pair of black-rimmed glasses that did not have prescribed lenses, “I’ll place the spectacles on the table.”
Lin Ye spit out the toothpaste in his mouth, turning his head to thank Xia Dongchan.
Xia Dongchan had already cleaned up and did not wait for Lin Ye, leaving with Cheng Chi and Qi Huan. Lin Ye was the last to leave the room, and before he walked out, he put on the baseball cap and the black-rimmed glasses Xia Dongchan gave him. When he put on his white sweater and sweatpants, he stood in front of the floor-length mirror. The person in the mirror looked very ordinary.
He could barely recognize himself. Lin Ye smiled at himself in the mirror and pressed the hat on his head down, a hand in the pocket of his sweater, another hand picking up the key on the table as he headed to the canteen to eat breakfast.
He met Wen Mian who was also headed to get breakfast. The other almost thought that he had mistaken someone else for Lin Ye and did not dare to reach out to Lin Ye.
Only when Lin Ye raised his face to look at Wen Mian did Wen Mian realize who he was. His expression was sly, “When you’re dressed like that, if you remove the name sticker on your shirt, and hold a camera on your shoulder, people would believe you if you said you were a cameraman.”
Lin Ye did not care, “It’s not like there is any filming scheduled today.”
“Of course, there is,” Wen Mian raised his eyebrow, “Aren’t the cameras in the practice room cameras?”
Lin Ye said, “Who knows how much screentime they’ll cut.”
Wen Mian placed his arm around Lin Ye’s shoulder, pretending to sigh, “That’s true, when can my company learn from other companies and buy me some screentime?”
The two of them chatted idly the whole way to the canteen. Wen Mian was in a hurry to go to the classroom. He ordered his breakfast as a takeaway to eat on the way to the classroom. He even asked Lin Ye, “Do you want to go with me?”
Lin Ye turned his head around and looked across the canteen. He happened to see Qiu Yi’s back and he turned away, “You can leave first. I’ll eat here.”
Wen Mian nodded, grabbing his breakfast and taking his leave first. Lin Ye carried his plate of breakfast and walked to the seats. Only when he walked to the table that Qiu Yi was sitting at did he realize that Jiang Lian and Ming Rang were seated there too.
Lin Ye turned around to ask Qiu Yi, “Is there anyone sitting next to you?”
The latter raised his head when he heard Lin Ye’s voice. When he saw Lin Ye, he said warmly, “There’s no one sitting here, sit.”
Lin Ye put down the tray in his hands, sitting in the empty seat next to Qiu Yi. Ming Rang, who was sitting right opposite him took a glance at him, his smile had some ambiguous meaning to it, “Did the pretty little rose wilt today?”
Lin Ye quickly realized that Ming Rang was referring to him. The other had known about the relations between him and Jiang Lian, it was something that was known in their hearts, but never mentioned.
He had not expected Ming Rang to be so gutsy. He glanced at Qiu Yi from the corner of his eyes, pretending he did not hear it. Then, he picked up the porridge on his tray and drank it.
Naturally, Qiu Yi looked up, confused, “What rose?”
Ming Rang’s smile was ambiguous, “The rose that Jiang Lian is keeping.”
Qiu Yi looked at Jiang Lian, “You’re growing a rose in your room?”
Jiang Lian paused when he heard those words, before he raised his eyelids, his gaze landing on Lin Ye, who was sitting diagonally opposite him. He laughed lowly and said, “Yes.”
Qiu Yi did not even notice anything strange, “How long have you had it for? Why is it wilting? Did you not water it?”
Ming Rang’s tone was teasing, “It’s probably not that he didn’t water it. He probably watered it too much.”
Jiang Lian glanced at him, “I didn’t water it yesterday night.”
Ming Rang scratched his chin, his words shocking, “That means that the little rose got thirsty on his own.”
Qiu Yi did not understand the whole time. He turned around and wanted to ask Lin Ye what he meant. When his gaze landed on Lin Ye’s slightly swollen eyelids, he froze, then said very directly, “Why do you look a little wilted?”
Lin Ye’s lips twitched, refusing to respond.
After they were done eating breakfast, it was another day of high-intensity practice.
The practice was mainly about the performance positions and ensuring their movements were coordinated. The eight of them had gone on stage once before, so they were not as clueless about the structure of the stage as they had been before the first public performance.
Qiu Yi, who was the leader was standing away from the group, watching the team practice as an onlooker, helping them correct mistakes that were easy to make when they were dancing.
In the end, he even taught a few teammates who lacked stage experience on how to make use of the cameras in front of the stage, showing their best side to the camera.
“Thus, to properly catch the camera, we need to have sufficient knowledge of what’s good about our body shapes,” Qiu Yi paused, “For example, for me, the right side of my face looks better than the left side of my face. Thus, I’ll purposely turn to the left in front of a camera, showing the right side of my face.”
Lin Ye turned his head to look at himself in the floor-length mirror. He was unable to see anything from his face. He did not often look in the mirror. What he understood since he was young was that boys should not be too concerned about their looks.
His gaze moved away from his face in the reflection, turning towards Jiang Lian, who was standing by the window sill and chatting with Ming Rang. He had known Jiang Lian for quite a while now, but till now, he could not find any bad angle on Jiang Lian’s face.
It was like from any angle, Jiang Lian’s face had no flaws. Even last night, when Lin Ye was lying on the floor and looking up at the other from below, from his jaw to his nose, every line of Jiang Lian’s face was perfect.
He changed his train of thought, his gaze meeting Jiang Lian’s dark eyes that were facing his mirror. Lin Ye was slightly stunned but did not turn away instantly.
The two of them met each other’s eyes quietly through the big mirror. It was like a placid shallow lake, yet like a deep sea with a surging undercurrent.
A few seconds later, Lin Ye could no longer stop himself from blinking. He turned away. Right after that, he heard Jiang Lian call his name from behind.
Lin Ye turned around.
Ming Rang, who was originally talking to Jiang Lian had gone somewhere. Jiang Lian was still standing by the windowsill, curving his lips up into a smile in Lin Ye’s direction, “Come over here, I’ll help you take a look.”
Lin Ye finally returned to his senses. The other wanted to see his face, and he walked toward Jiang Lian, stopping in front of him.
Jiang Lian reached out to take off the black-rimmed glasses on his face, his fingers holding onto Lin Ye’s jaw, raising his face, slowly looking over Lin Ye’s face. After that, he lowered his gaze towards Lin Ye’s nose bridge, “Your nose bridge is very pretty.”
Lin Ye was stunned.
Jiang Lian turned away from him, looking towards the trainees that were looking at each others’ features, “Does anyone have a black pen? Hand me one.”
“Let me take a look,” Qiu Yi said as he lowered his head, taking out a water-based black pen from his pocket, and throwing it towards Jiang Lian from afar.
The black pen landed by Jiang Lian’s feet. He bent down to pick it up, opening the cap and placing it on the back of the pen. His other hand held Lin Ye’s jaw steady, His other hand held the pen and landed on Lin Ye’s face.
There was a strange feeling on the tip of his nose, it was a little cold and a little itchy. Lin Ye stood at his original spot and did not move, letting Jiang Lian draw on his face. Lin Ye lowered his gaze, carelessly staring at the other’s deep and strong features.
The other let go, lowering his gaze and placing the cap on the pen again. When he walked past Lin Ye, Jiang Lian stopped and turned his face to the side, speaking by Lin Ye’s ear, “The next time you do a public performance, remember to ask the stylist to help you draw one.”
Lin Ye raised his head on hearing his voice, looking towards the floor-length mirror in front of him. In the large and clear mirror, there was a circular black dot on his nose.
That black dot was on the tip of Lin Ye’s quite sharp nose, causing his entire face to seem whiter and brighter. His features now had a bit of sexiness along with handsomeness.
It was because of the mole that Jiang Lian draw on the tip of Lin Ye’s nose.
Lin Ye did not purposely reach out to wipe it away. But because the training was too intense that day, the mole slowly disappeared because of the sweat on his nose, disappearing eventually.
The third episode of the show aired at night, and the trainees took some time off despite their busy schedules, running to the projection room to watch it. They were full of excitement and hesitance, trying to find the short few minutes that belonged to them in the two-hour-long show.
Lin Ye went to watch as well. He had gone alone and was sitting amongst the other trainees from the other teams, sitting in the back corner of the room alone.
His screentime had rapidly increased in the third episode. The amount of screen time he had in the first two episodes added up did not even equate to a third of the time he had in the third episode.
While Lin Ye was shocked, he found it understandable. After all, in every scene that had him in the third episode, Jiang Lian was next to him. Rather than say that Jiang Lian was in all the screentime Lin Ye had, it was more appropriate to say that he was an addition to many of Jiang Lian’s scenes.
From the first elimination to the grouping for the second performance, with the scene of Jiang Lian saving him during the first elimination. The interaction between him and Jiang Lian in the mall during the hostel decoration competition, as well as when Lin Ye was chosen to be the trainee that Jiang Lian wanted to group up with again, all of these scenes were not cut.
It was easy to see that to ensure Jiang Lian had a suitable amount of screentime, the production team would not randomly delete Jiang Lian’s screentime.
Lin Ye sat in the corner, his breathing slightly frantic.
He did not know how to describe what he was feeling. It was probably a strange hidden excitement that more people would see him and his name would be known by more people.
And it had been very long since he felt this kind of excitement. So much so that he felt that it was a very foreign feeling when that feeling seeped into his chest and bloodstream.
Lin Ye stood up from the corner, slightly letting out a breath of relief as he walked out of the room. He wanted to look for Jiang Lian and borrow his phone. He had never been in such a hurry to find out what the reaction of the show’s fans was towards him after the third episode aired.
Whether it was good or bad, he was able to completely accept it. Comparatively, if people had different opinions and comments on various situations on the Internet, it was much better than not being able to find anything about himself on the Internet.
No one would discuss whether you were good or bad, no one would praise you or scold you, and no one would even know his name. Even when you searched your name, it would all be information about someone else with the same name as you. It had nothing to do with you.
And that kind of experience, Lin Ye had already experienced once before this.
He returned to Class A’s classroom downstairs, but Jiang Lian was not there. There were only two of his teammates doing their individual training. Lin Ye asked them, “Where are the others?”
His teammates turned around when they heard his words, his expression shocked, “You haven’t gone back? Everyone’s gone back already.”
Lin Ye thanked them and packed up his items, returning to his room.
When he went to the hostel room opposite his and knocked on the door, the person who opened the door was Ming Rang. The other had a lollipop in his mouth, and when he saw Lin Ye, he curved his lips and asked, “Jiang Lian is showering, do you want to come in?”
Lin Ye nodded.
Ming Rang leaned against the doorframe and made way for him.
Knowing what the other was thinking. After Lin Ye walked in, he directly opened his mouth to say, “I want to borrow Jiang Lian’s phone.”
Ming Rang bent down to pick up Jiang Lian’s phone and threw it at him. After that, he passed Lin Ye a fruit-flavored lollipop, “You know the password, right?”
Lin Ye said, “Don’t I need to ask him?”
“You can ask him yourself,” Ming Rang’s expression was perfunctory as he raised his brow, walking towards the door. On the way there, he seemed to have thought of something, turning around to instruct Lin Ye, “I’ll be going to Qiu Yi’s room to play werewolf. When you are done, come over and knock on the door to tell me.”
(T/N: Not sure if anyone has played werewolf before, there’s an English version and a Chinese version (and maybe other versions I’m not sure haha). The Chinese version is called 狼人杀láng rén shā. It’s similar but it’s a lot more complicated with like a storyline and roles. TBH I don’t really understand it even though I’ve played it a few times before)
Lin Ye wanted to say something, turning around to explain that he was not going to be busy doing anything with Jiang Lian. However, he was only in time to see the door that was being swung close, as well as Ming Rang’s back that was disappearing behind the door.
He did not touch Jiang Lian’s phone, removing the wrapper on the lollipop as he sucked on it and waited for Jiang Lian on the sofa.
The other was wiping his hair after he was done showering. He saw Lin Ye eating sweets on the sofa like he was thinking of something. Jiang Lian raised his eyebrows, “You’re here to borrow the shower again?”
Lin Ye sucked on the lollipop, his voice muffled as he said, “I came to borrow your phone.”
Jiang Lian raised his jaw to point at the phone, “Isn’t the phone right in front of you?”
Lin Ye bent down to pick up the phone on the tea table, unlocking the phone in a well-practiced manner, “Aren’t you going to ask me why I want your phone?”
Jiang Lian did not even turn his head around as he replied, “To take my smaller account to follow the accounts that share gossip about the show?”
Lin Ye rubbed his nose, embarrassed. He shut his mouth and stopped speaking, instead, following the other’s words, he returned to check out the account he had followed the last time on Weibo.
He was not in a hurry to search for his name. He opened the following list of Jiang Lian’s small account, ‘Melon Flower Planting Base’ was still lying in the following list and had not been removed by Jiang Lian.
Lin Ye clicked on the other’s page, his finger had not moved and he instantly saw a popular Weibo post that had been reposted more than ten thousand times.
He was stunned for a moment, opening that Weibo post and he lowered his gaze to quickly glance through the content above and comments below.
“@Melon Flower Planting Base: CP sandal. Two trainees on the island really
“@hklu**c”: ????????”
“@cnkkgd: The f*ck? It’s real this time??????”
“@sbjkff: What a shocking scandal, is there any evidence?”
“@majslg: Let me take a look, whose house has collapsed this time hehe.”
“@mdhxbgue: ??? I’m shaking, please don’t be mine.”
There were a lot of comments, but the person reading the comments could not help but feel his heart sinking.
His heart thumped and Lin Ye hurriedly sat up on the sofa.
