Dimension System - Chapter 45
Arriving at the banquet, they were able to exit the carriage but that was about it. They weren’t ready for it when many people approached. Everyone wanted to ask about his deals and he had, unknowingly, become very popular.
The people were already treating him like a celebrity at this point. When Alexis stepped out of the carriage, the surrounding crowd became even livelier.
“Isn’t that the Rosedale girl?”
“Haha, no wonder he left the party.”
“Hopefully, he’ll be staying in the city a while longer.”
Rumors popped up quickly, as people made hasty assumptions, misunderstanding the situation. While everyone was still talking, they helped senior Lee out of the carriage. The guests were shocked, what was a hobo doing here?
At this point, a large, well-dressed man had pushed his way to the front of the crowd. Zanir recognized him as the man he sat next to earlier at the banquet, the one who’d asked about his hand. Thinking he’d have to brush him off, the man surprisingly addressed Alexis.
“There you are Lexy, we couldn’t find you anywhere. Why did you bring back this old man?”
“Father, I didn’t bring him back, It was Zanir.”
Looking over, he couldn’t help but grin, tipping his top hat.
“I must thank young master Zanir for escorting my daughter back to the party. I look forward to seeing the animals you’ll be bringing tomorrow.”
“Thank you, mister Rosedale. I must be off early, to meet the trading caravan, so I will take this moment to bid goodnight to everyone.”
Alexis was shocked at the way her father had treated him. He only treated powerful and important people with that much respect. She was curious and wanted to know more about this mysterious young man.
That would have to wait, however, as he took off to his room, directly after saying goodnight. It was late, and truthfully he was tired after a long day. The guards would help senior Lee to his room, the old man was happy to have the chance to clean up.
Waking the next day, he noticed that the system icon he expected was blinking.
[Creatures are ready. Upgrade point available. Please proceed to your world.]
Looking over the options, he found that they were the same as the crops. The only difference being cross-breed was replaced with fusion. Putting together two different animals or monsters could have some really amazing results.
Gathering together with the guards and senior Lee, they had an early breakfast. With the party being over, they had changed back into armor, since they were heading out today. He had gotten senior Lee some new clothes, along with his haircut he looked like a brand new man.
All of the staff were still busy, scrambling around trying to clean up after the banquet last night. Several of the guests were hungover, trying to sober up. None of them had the energy to bother him this early, so they were able to eat in peace.
Seeing the unfortunate guests, he was glad that he didn’t drink too much last night. Taking the carriage, they headed out of town and down the road. Using the other exit took them in a new direction.
After an hour of strolling down the road, at a leisurely pace, he figured they were far enough. Senor Lee was confused, why had they stopped in the middle of nowhere? What was going on? Hoping for the best he nervously asked about it.
“Hey, we’re just stopping for a break right?”
“Senior Lee, it may look like a random field but this is where the goods are due to be delivered. You’ll have to sign this employment contract now, as per our agreement.”
Pulling out the new employment contract he passed it over. Having the system apply the stamp’s effect to a modified contract was easy. Stating everything upfront, people knew they were submitting their lives.
Checking over the terms, Senior Lee was impressed.
“Direct and to the point, I like it!”
Signing the signature, he watched as the contract vanished in the air. A small tingle in his head was the only indicator that something actually happened. Now that he was a citizen, they could check out the animals.
“Are you ready, Senior Lee?”
“Ready for what?”
“To see our company headquarters.”
“Where is it?”
After asking, they were both transported to the spatial world. Senior Lee was startled, looking around at the area in wonder. There were people walking around chatting, as a few men laughed at an open-air deck, enjoying cold glasses of beer.
The entire area was looking vibrant and healthy. He could see that the men had been hard at work, they had gathered plenty of building materials. Heading over to the ranch area, the animals gathered around him.
Each of the animals looked jacked, it was almost comical. The already muscular Big Horn cattle, now looked like their muscles had muscles of their own. Even the fat flames hogs hadn’t missed out. They were still chubby, but these guys clearly hadn’t skipped leg day.
Curious, as to what was happening, senior Lee questioned him.
“What the heck is this place, where are we?”
“Senior Lee, welcome to headquarters, your new home. You’ve heard of space magic, welcome to the next level. Dimensional Magic.”
Explaining to the old man how things worked, senior Lee caught on quickly. He agreed to help with any advice he could, pledging his teaching skills as well. Seeing that he was going to take all the animals to sell, he offered some advice.
“Why not take half, leave some breeding pairs? Surely the live birthed animals will be stronger, and might even mature faster than the artificially created ones.”
“Excellent idea, we’ll go with it, to try it out.”
Having an advisor was great, having one that couldn’t betray you was even greater. Leaving some of the animals behind to repopulate, they ported out the remaining animals. Once they were back in the abandoned field he had the animals join formation.
Marching back to town, the people were greeted with a strange sight. The Dragons Den trading company had returned, they recognized that by the banner. What was strange, was the animals following them.
They were marching in tow!
Without any restraints or even a single harness, the animals followed, plodding obediently behind. Most animals bolted the minute they had a chance, no one had ever seen such disciplined beasts. People would never forget this day, the tale of marching animals was retold in the Trostin pubs countless times, by those who had witnessed it.
