[Toot…]
[There is no question about the authenticity of the creator’s record regarding the 212 shelters built worldwide. The system will now search the word “programmable” printed on the information plate against the available database]
[Toot… No file found]
[Running search related to “213 and shelter” instead…]
[Toot… No results were found]
[Running search on Southern Union’s Project…]
[One result found. Reading out the summary right now…]
[Southern Union’s Project. Date: Pre-Apocalypse. Aim: to research and build a possible outpost-sized long-lasting shelter capable of self-sustainability for at least one hundred years and above. Initially, the research was for the usage in space, foreign planets, and underwater]
[Facilities included was life sustainability chamber, food production cum plantation station, middle-grade engineering factory, servicing module, and a cloning facility]
[Above was all the information found in regards to the Southern Union’s Project. If the system’s guesses were accurate, this Programmable Shelter No: 213 is likely a test project before the outbreak]
After getting briefed by the information from Stein, Zhang Qin Feng had a more profound understanding regarding the background of this shelter. But no matter what, it only increases his worries because this place was not included in the list.
Furthermore, Zhang Qin Feng is slightly worried about their future plan after this. Although he had a Vermilion Empress at his disposal, that doesn’t mean Zhang Qin Feng will have nothing else to worry about.
In the middle of the sea here, not having to worry about the zombies is good news, but that means they’ll be facing a crisis with Duranium Shards in the long run. The shortage of the shards also means Zhang Qin Feng couldn’t return to the modern world too often right now.
He could make fifteen trips at most from all the Duranium Shards they had. And after this, they’ll have to start thinking about where to restock.
Also, trying to use them thriftily is not the answer either.
First of all, about half of Zhang Qin Feng’s current technology is heavily relies on Duranium Shards produced by the zombies to sustain their heavy energy usage. Most of the essential resources, such as Atom Battery Cell, Serum, Recovery Spray, and Ammunition,
require Duranium Shards to process.
Without a way to keep refilling the Duranium Shards they’re using, the manufacturing and production will definitely stagnate the moment the shards are gone.
They could also rely on recycling to keep everything afloat. Still, such a solution method was not sustainable in the long run. This method would be using more energy to recycle instead.
‘Looks like it will still take some time for Victor to unlock the bunker door. Should I take a look at what they had behind the door?’ Zhang Qin Feng turned his hand back at where Victor and the others were at.
Then, he shifted his attention back to the emergency exit before him. Filled with curiosity to see what they had over here, Zhang Qin Feng forcefully opened the door to take a look at what was available over there.
He was immediately greeted by some heavy pieces of machinery used to construct this facility. From its look, all of these vehicles here were related to construction since there’s no reason for them to use a car here.
As he felt he might need them in the future, Zhang Qin Feng collected all of them into his storage for later use. With a Dimension Storage capacity of about 370m long, even ten full car parks over here won’t be a challenge to him.
A soldier approached Zhang Qin Feng when he came out from the parking.
“Boss, the Department Head Victor is looking for you.” the soldier said.
“Alright. I’ll come over right now.” Zhang Qin Feng nodded. It seems that Victor was done with the work to get the door opened.
“Boss, the unlocking was done. All I need to do is press a button here, and it will withdraw all the locking mechanisms that seal this door from the outside.” Victor said. His word made Zhang Qin Feng check on the clock on his Luna Device.
‘Hmm… Did this guy’s skill improve? He’s close to ten minutes faster than my expectation.’ Zhang Qin Feng secretly praised Victor in his mind.
And in response to Victor’s word, he gave him a nod instead.
“Everyone should look for something to take cover. Keep your safety off and ready to engage, but do not take action until I say so. Keep your attitude in check as we’re here not for conquest but seeking cooperation.”
“Do you get me?” Zhang Qin Feng asked them again.
“Yes, Sir!” everyone answered and obeyed Zhang Qin Feng’s word without question.
“Good. Victor, open the bunker door for me,” he ordered. Zhang Qin Feng was standing nicely at the entrance as he waited for the door to open from the inside.
A few loud noises followed as the mechanism pulled back one after another, slowly unsealing the door from the gap. The sound that came from the door made everyone nervous as they hoped nothing would charge out of the shelter the moment it was opened.
They were maintaining their stance as the mechanisms finally finished retracting. As the bunker door moved, everyone pointed their gun straight at the gap as it opened wider.
Lights were slowly opened as the door passed the gap in between until it was tightly sealed on the other side of the wall.
“Greetings, outsiders.” the sound of people speaking through the intercom can be heard. The sound was directed towards the outside, where Zhang Qin Feng and the others were waiting. Behind the tone was a hint of friendliness they’ve lost after living in this cruel, harsh world.
It seems there are around thirty people here waiting to receive them. But the weird thing is, they’re not standing outside in the open but inside an airtight room with a separated atmosphere.
“Before we continue with our conversation, can you explain your intention for seeking the door to our humble facility?” one of the thirty people here asked. On their wrists, it was evident that they had the same bracelet weapon shown by Victor.
