- Chapter 402: Vanquisher Rifle & Author's Thought
The shot that came from an unknown direction tore the mutant into tiny pieces before it could react. It came as a surprise even to Zhang Qin Feng, who had no idea who was the one firing the shot.
Based on the caliber of the gun and its ammunition, this weaponry wasn’t one of the proud firearms produced by his Wind Base Group.
While the second blob of mutant fell lifelessly on the ground, another shot was fired. This time, the target was the first blob tossed by the main body while escaping.
Both mutant parts were either maimed or burned to their last fragment of life before falling on the ground, and they would likely die soon from malnutrition. At this moment, the mutant look so docile that a stomp from Zhang Qin Feng could simply kill it.
Still, this was not a victory for Zhang Qin Feng since the mutant’s main body managed to escape from his hand.
In his experience, those that managed to get away always come back and bite him harder than before. And in fact, he hated this plenty but got no choice to accept it.
Three Armored Vehicles soon pulled themselves into view as multiple soldiers wearing Wind Base Group’s uniform came to Zhang Qin Feng’s side. A few soldiers quickly get off from the car and start collecting as many samples as they can before getting rid of the rest.
‘Did these boys come here with new arsenals in their hand?’ Zhang Qin Feng was pondering as an individual with a facial feature like his approach with a smile. Different from Zhang Qin Feng, he looks younger, with a crimson-colored eye jewel and hair.
His feature can be said to be a wealthily grown-up version of Zhang Qin Feng. He’s unlike the original, which had a slight tan from UV rays, an oily face due to unsanitary habits in the wild, and black-colored hair and eyes.
But this wasn’t the first time Zhang Qin Feng had seen him before. He had a rough inkling that this individual was a part of the clones he had Valerian and Carol “made” for his ambition.
Instead, he’s more interested in the firearm on the shoulder of that individual. It had quite a wild, beautiful finish in appearance, with beautifully polished gunmetal color. Comes with a 1650mm length from stock to tip, this beast is likely not something below Satella’s favorite firearm, the Lunacy.
In terms of weight itself, this is quite a heavyweight contender to the Anti-Materiel Rifle too. With a hefty 80 kilograms, this firearm is like walking around with an adult male in your hand.
But again, the weight, length, and appearance were all justified by the power it had shown.
It’s impossible for Zhang Qin Feng to hate this firearm, especially when it could effortlessly turn the mutant into a pile of mess. This fact alone was enough to convince Zhang Qin Feng of its uses.
“Creator,” this was what the individual said when he stood beside Zhang Qin Feng. He looked so natural like he had been accompanying Zhang Qin Feng for a while before this. The smile on his face also well reflecting on who he inherited the feature and genes.
“Did Valerian tell you what you’re called?” Zhang Qin Feng asked.
Unless the two researchers were in their rebellious phase, they’d likely give this clone a name he had been given much earlier. Of course, if the girls happened to want an offspring of their own, they could choose to name however they want.
“The two creators said I have been called Zhang Tianhuo since the day I exist for you.” Zhang Tianhuo smiled while replying to his creator’s sentence. The complete obedience he’d shown was the same as Zhang Tianci.
Speaking at Zhang Tianci, it seems he’s coming from further ahead instead of from Zhang Qin Feng’s back. From what he guessed, this first clone of his likely went forward to pursue the mutant but ended up with no results.
“So… What’s up with these pieces of equipment? When did the base have so much leisure time to push them out into production?” Zhang Qin Feng asked. He might have underestimated the ability of the Shelter No: 213’s producing capability, but as per his knowledge, all of these were complete foreign firearms.
Wouldn’t it make his life much easier if he had access to all of these when he landed on this island?
“Well, to answer this question, I’ll be repeating what Marvin and Victor keep telling me.” unlike Zhang Tianci, who hardly speaks, Zhang Tianhuo is quite talkative.
*Ker-Chak!*
“Emperium’s Weaponry Series 100-L, Vanquisher Rifle.” Zhang Tianhuo pulled the rifle to the front and repeated what he was told by Victor. Even the tone and mannerism in his speech imitated Victor’s.
“This must be something you were told by Victor, correct?” Zhang Qin Feng chuckled. He finds it soothing to listen to something like this right now. Although joking around when they’re still in a battle zone was taboo, there’s no written rule that they shouldn’t do it.
Furthermore, this was a kind of relaxation for Zhang Qin Feng. He had been in this relentless behavior from the start until now.
“Huh…” Zhang Qin Feng pulled a crate out from his Dimensional Storage and comfortably took a seat.
“Continue,” he added. For an unknown reason, he’s interested in listening to what Victor had in his weaponry bible.
“Alright. This is the successor of the older Lunacy Anti-Materiel Rifle. Although the weight remains cumbersome, the Vanquisher comes with more functional features capable of participating in a few different battlefields.” said Zhang Tianhuo.
“The bullets were the same diameter as Lunacy, but lighter and more effective. Furthermore, the Vanquisher also comes with a unique feature.”
“We’ve copied and reproduced what the Linebarrel Tank had, and the result is quite positive. Although this was just a miniature version of what the original had, I’m sure that…” Zhang Tianhuo’s tone changed slightly.
“The result is quite obvious, correct?” there was a smirk on his face as if he knew the reason why Zhang Qin Feng looked interested out of sudden.
