“Why not? But make it short. I’ll have to accompany my wives to the sea in the next twenty minutes or so.” Zhang Qin Feng chuckled as he responded to the representative’s suggestion.
“Of course, Sir.”
“Our indoor plantation facility and agricultural research managed to develop a newer subspecies of the plants using some of the reports we have legal rights to. Right now, there are fourteen new breeds of plants we’re planning to introduce to the annual agriculture expo in the next two months.”
“Out of the fourteen, we’re confident that three of them would be greatly received by the Continents of the Southern States and Democratic Union. We’re so sure about this because the two nations were often bothered by sensitive climate over there.” said the representative.
“Not bad. The other nation’s interest alone doesn’t catch my attention, but your team does. What are the three breeds of plants we’re talking about here? Would there be a risk of allowing others to monopolize them?” Zhang Qin Feng asked.
His concern over this is essential since this modern world works differently from the apocalypse. Unlike the latter, where he could maintain absolute right through his iron fist, the current world required him to properly discuss this.
Being more powerful or wealthy could do nothing regarding public interest and human rights. And to make things worst, there’s little to no regard to loyalty here. Zhang Qin Feng could be a respectable leader to everyone in Marianna’s politics right now. Still, the situation would surely change if his position was threatened in the future.
This is precisely why he had to handle everything here with finesse instead of letting them go according to the flow.
His concern wasn’t on the plants they would introduce but on the team behind it. For Zhang Qin Feng, the possession of the brain was more valuable than possessing what they could make.
“The first is higher yield wheat we decided to call it M1-species. This species thrives better and have better tolerance against weather and pest. The protein content inside the grains is also higher than the usual wheat planted worldwide.”
“Next is a hybrid fruit which combined the beetroot, monk fruit, and sugarcane with the thought to increase the sugar production. We understand that the talk regarding sugar is quite a sensitive topic. Still, sweet flavoring is now considered a must-have to the household.”
“Instead of quietly banning them from the market, we would instead create a less soil-demanding crop that could compensate in terms of space. This Jewel Fruit is also a healthier option edible in raw or processed form.”
In a flash, the representative already mentioned two out of the three breeds they will introduce in the upcoming agriculture expo expected to come in the next two months.
“And what’s the third one?” Zhang Qin Feng asked. He had a feeling the third one was going to be something big. If it wasn’t, the representative wouldn’t be putting it at the last one to be presented.
“Sir, you’ll be in a shock if you heard the last one.” the representative chuckled. The representative dares to speak informally with Zhang Qin Feng for the first time.
“And you better prepare to get your ass walloped if it wasn’t as surprising as you thought.” Zhang Qin Feng accompanied him in speaking informally to match the cliffhanging mood.
“Sir, what’s the first thing that came into your mind when I mentioned green energy?” the representative asked.
“Green energy? Does that equal electricity produce naturally without pollutants or carbon emission?” Zhang Qin Feng randomly made a guess. It’s not like he had no idea about this.
Almost 80% of their machines run on electricity in the apocalypse, from Duranium Shard powered, Prismatic Crystal powered, to nuclear powered. And they’re considered the greenest energy so far over there.
But from Zhang Qin Feng’s knowledge, this level of this green energy is too far from their grasp right now. The modern world was about twenty to twenty-five years behind the apocalypse world in terms of understanding over energy research.
Of course, this doesn’t mean the gap is unbreakable.
After all, the technological progression in the apocalypse was based on survival. In contrast, the passage here in the modern world was based on the quality of living, efficiency, and comfort.
The modern world’s result might be slower, but they had more consumer opinion regarding how efficient it could be. And sometimes, it may prove to be an efficient way for improvement.
“Your guess is partially correct. But what if I say we’re capable of generating energy underwater? In a large batch, nevertheless.” the representative continued.
“Alright. Fewer guesses and open up. You got me hooked.” Zhang Qin Feng was someone that hated the guessing game after all. And since the previous sentence already caught his interest, he would rather listen to what the representative had to say.
“It was yet to finalize, but we found a new breed of sea coral which is a hybrid of coral and kelp. And these coral is capable of releasing energy equivalent to an adult electric eel.” the representative said.
“A coral capable of releasing energy equivalent to an electric eel? How much could that be?” Zhang Qin Feng asked.
“Enough to boil a jug of water inside an electric kettle? But this is the initial estimation. We’re trying to increase their numbers, research what promotes the electricity to be generated and the preferred food and condition.” the representative continued.
He might be an expert in agriculture, but sea agriculture was still an entirely new field for him to try his hand on. With limited research and information, almost all of his hypotheses right now is nothing but rough assumption without valid data.
But there’s one truth here, which is the coral’s potential.
In this world, 71% of the planet’s surface was underwater, with only 29% above the water level. If humanity could use the land below water level to generate electricity like this coral was good for, it would be an outstanding contribution to society.
“Sir, are you alright?” the representative had to call Zhang Qin Feng to see if he was still there. It seems that in-between his presentation, Zhang Qin Feng was absentmindedly thought of something else.
“Yes. Come to meet me with some samples tomorrow. You can ask for my coordinate from Admiral Mason. Just get in touch with him through Jason.” Zhang Qin Feng said.
