Disaster Strikes - Chapter 61:
The next day.
As the sky began to brighten, and the temperature rose slightly, Chen Mo quietly left the skull house where he had once lived alone.
“I will probably never come back.”
Chen Mo had no nostalgia for this place, disappearing into the horizon like a traveler in the desert.
After nearly two days of travel, Chen Mo stopped temporarily on the outskirts not far from the gathering place.
It was only about a dozen kilometers from the gathering place and the reason Chen Mo stopped was a huge metal wreckage that seemed to have been a metal aircraft from some technological world, like a huge cigar, about a hundred meters long, was diagonally inserted into the ground.
Inside the wreckage there was nothing left, already destroyed and emptied by other natural disasters.
But what caught Chen Mo’s attention was that there were hundreds of palm prints of various sizes on the outer shell of the metal wreckage. Among them, the largest palm print in the middle seemed to contain infinite mysteries. It had actually blasted through the metal shell, but there were no traces of outward cracking at the edge of this huge palm print.
Clearly this should be the first palm print left on the metal wreckage of the aircraft. After seeing this palm print, the people after all imitated it in other areas of the metal wreckage.
However, except for two or three palm prints that were similar in size and destructive in power, the others were quite different. Some could barely leave a shallow normal-sized palm print on the surface of the metal wreckage.
Chen Mo walked past these palm prints one by one, comparing them. Unconsciously, he felt as if he had been inspired by these predecessors’ palm prints but after seeing the last palm print he felt somewhat unsatisfied, wanting to see and compare more.
Prompt: Your proficiency level in basic palm techniques has increased to Lv4.
Seeing that his proficiency in basic palm techniques had unexpectedly increased from Lv3 to Lv4 Chen Mo couldn’t help but feel elated. Wanting to leave his own mark he tried to strike at a blank area of the metal wreckage.
Thunk.
When Chen Mo painfully withdrew his right hand, his former elation turned into bitterness. He was really too ignorant. There was no change in the blank space of the metal wreckage.
It seems that to leave a palm print on it, his strength at least needed to reach 100 points and his proficiency in basic palm techniques should be above Lv25. As for those terrifying palm prints that directly blasted through the metal wreckage, Chen Mo didn’t dare to imagine them.
This kind of palm, if it were to strike oneself, one’s body would probably be instantly blasted into a lifeless lump of flesh.
With a sense of awe, Chen Mo sighed and shook his head, continuing on towards the gathering place.
Returning to the River of Sorrows gathering place, seeing that the sky had not yet completely darkened Chen Mo went straight to the square, preparing for the next disaster mission, hoping to find something suitable for himself. However, after wandering around the square for a while, although there were many good things here the prices were simply too high, which he couldn’t afford at the moment, until he noticed a bald natural disaster in front of two stalls, struggling with a difficult decision, seemingly very hesitant.
“Hey hey, this armour of mine, although it’s only of green quality, it has a full attribute value of Defence +7. The previous owner even spent a full 90 points to enchant it to Lv3, increasing the defence by 3 points for a total of 10 points of defence. It only costs 150 points, with no usage restrictions, you better think it through.”
Chen Mo was surprised to hear this.
You should know that the market price of green-quality weapons and armour is only around 60 to 80 points and a full attribute armour with Defense +7 is at most around 100 points. For this kind of transitional equipment, someone actually was willing to spend 90 points to enchant and strengthen it to Lv3. Only people like Lei Wu, who are preparing for the trial of the starving ghosts would do such a thing.
With growing curiosity Chen Mo approached the stall.
“Brother, don’t listen to his nonsense it’s just a green-quality equipment, mine is a blue-quality equipment, although it has only Defense +9, which is 1 point less than the full attribute of Defense +10, but for blue-quality equipment as long as you’re willing to spend points to upgrade the enchantment level, each enchantment level increase of the blue-quality armour will add 2 points of defence. So if you upgrade it to Lv3, that’s 6 points of defence, adding up to a total of 15 points of defence!”
With a smug look on his face, the stall owner looked at the other stall owner who was competing for business with him.
“More importantly when you want to sell it later, it will be much easier. 200 points, you won’t buy at a loss or you won’t be fooled.”
The stall owner selling the green-quality armour was immediately annoyed “What do you mean fooled? What are you talking about?”
“What do you think?”
These two stall owners seemed to be competing in secret, leaving the bald man unsure of what to do, Chen Mo who came next to the bald man understood the situation.
One stall owner was selling green-quality armor, but because it had been enchanted to Lv3 it had a high attribute of Defense +10, almost equivalent to a full attribute blue-quality armor, all for just 150 points.
The other stall owner was selling a blue-quality armor, with an attribute of Defense +9 for a hefty price of 200 points. However the blue-quality armor adds 2 points of defence after each successful enchantment, so with just another 90 points spent to enchant it to Lv3, it would gain an additional 6 points of defence, adding up to 15 points of defence and it would be easier to sell in the future.
After hesitating for a while, the bald man finally made a decision. “I’ll take this blue-quality armor!”
Upon hearing this, the stall owner selling the blue-quality armor couldn’t help but look smug, completing the transaction with the bald man amidst the other stall owner’s cold snort.
The bald man immediately changed into his new equipment and left enthusiastically.
“Ah, some people, they really want to sell green-quality equipment at the price of a blue-quality equipment, they must be waiting for a sucker. Tut tut.”
The mocking voice next to him made the stall owner selling green-quality armour almost burst into flames from his eyes.
Chen Mo was quite tempted by this green-quality armour, but in terms of price he thought that there was still some room for negotiation. However Chen Mo also knew that if he expressed his intention to buy now, the other party would definitely not lower the price out of spite.
After all, being able to buy a green-quality armour for only 150 points which has attributes smiliar to a blue-quality armour which would normally cost at least 240 points with similar attributes, was indeed tempting for Chen Mo.
Although blue-quality armour has higher potential it also requires more points, Chen Mo didn’t have many points on hand and he also needed to see if he could replace his helmet or boots, prepare potions and skill scrolls to comprehensively improve his chances of survival in his next mission, rather than focusing solely on one piece of clothing.
Thinking of this, he set up a new stall next to these two stall owners.
As for what he was selling, there were only four items, two bottles of salamander recovery potion, one scroll of “Revival of the Grizzly” and the handgun Despiser.
“Huh?”
Chen Mo had just set up his props for sale, setting them up for display and someone was already interested in the handgun of the Rejected.
“How many points for this equipment?”
Chen Mo thought for a moment, because of the special property of this firearm, which could add a fixed damage of +100 to the wielder he was a bit unsure. He thought this equipment would be difficult to sell but he didn’t expect it to attract attention so quickly, making him hesitate in his pricing.
Better to fail than to regret.
“200 points.”
Despite it being just green-quality equipment, Chen Mo quoted an outrageous price.
He thought the other party would leave immediately but unexpectedly the other party actually looked at it and thought seriously for a while, looking quite hesitant. This somewhat puzzled Chen Mo.
However, in the end, the person shook his head and sighed as he left.
“Tut tut, there are actually weapons with such properties. Looks like we have to be careful when we join grey teams in the future.”
The stall owner selling green-quality armour couldn’t help but marvel at the handgun Despiser.
After his reminder Chen Mo suddenly realized.
This weapon can be used to guard against or to threaten teammates. After all, the so-called grey team is just a temporary team formed by natural disasters pledging some points. Once they encounter a more lucrative mission reward, it is almost certain there will be a fallout.
And if you have such a weapon. On one hand, during normal times it won’t attract the attention of teammates while maintaining stable output as a gunman. On the other hand once a betrayal occurs, it is simply a divine weapon to kill teammates!
Even a blue-quality firearm probably can’t compare to its special property and the terror it brings in damage. Chen Mo had previously overlooked these things because he had never joined a grey team.
But those veteran natural disasters who had joined the grey teams before instantly saw its true purpose.
“Hiss!” Chen Mo took a deep breath.
“So, if I sell it for 200 points, not only is the price not high but it’s actually low? At that time, I was still complaining about how strange the attributes of Dr. White’s weapons were and that they definitely couldn’t compare to the attributes revealed by the pistol of One-eyed Dragon, now though it seems I was really off the mark.”
As Chen Mo expected, many people passing by his stall became very interested in the handgun Despiser. Even when Chen Mo quoted 250 points, there were still people seriously considering it.
This made Chen Mo couldn’t help but sigh, he really hit the jackpot.
In this world of disasters, there were many natural disasters with malicious intentions. Even if you didn’t have any ill intentions, it wouldn’t hurt to be prepared, right?
If it weren’t for his own talent as a transmigrator, needing to steadily grow with time resources he has in a low-key manner and not yet mastering basic locking and basic Shooting skills, even Chen Mo thought about keeping it in his hands for safety.
“One price, 220 points.”
This passing natural disaster also became very interested in the handgun Despiser and tried to bargain.
“Not for sale!”
With confidence in the attributes of this equipment, Chen Mo’s tone also hardened, rejecting the offer on the spot.
