Discovering Something Special - Chapter 22 Old Love
Before I could catch a break, my parents waltzed into the room. I couldn’t hold myself back anymore.
“We are dating not getting married, ya know.”
Quincy pinched my waist to draw back my attention.
“Why don’t you call your folks over since the whole family is here? Only if they are available,” my mom said to Quincy as she pulled the seat next to me.
“My parents are currently out of state, but I’m sure my grandparents can make it.” I didn’t want him to feel swamped but looking at how well he was handling this catastrophic lunch, I could tell he was okay with it and calmed down enough to say hi to my parents.
“It’s okay not to,” I said to him.
He rubbed my head and scrunched his nose, “No worries darling. My grandma would love to be here.”
I nodded at him while he excused himself to go make a call. My grandma was definitely in a good mood after he agreed to my mom’s request. I couldn’t help but feel something was off with this date.
The old gang had eyes dripping with gossip, and I narrated to them in detail how it all went down between Quincy and I.
Outside the private room…
*Ring ring ring*
“Grandma”
“How are you Quincy?”
“Grandma, are you free to have lunch with me?”
“Sure, we are currently at Cafe B. Hurry and come join us.”
“What are you doing there?” I asked skeptically, hoping that my granny wasn’t keeping tabs on me.
“Silly boy, I came on a date with the old man. You’re not the only one allowed to date, you know,” I heard granny chuckle over the phone.
“Yes… yes… old love is the best. I’ll come to you.”
I spotted my grandparents at a corner sharing an ice drink.
“This sight is so blinding,” I couldn’t help but make fun of them.
“You’d probably pass out if you caught us on our makeout session.” That was when I found out my playful grandfather could blush. His ears turned red down to his neck. He looked so obedient, which wasn’t a term to be associated with him.
“TMI gran. I’m here with girlfriend and her family. Would you like to join us?”
This time, my grandfather was the one to respond.
“You should have said that from the moment you saw us. Why would I want to look at your face throughout lunch. Hurry up and take me to my granddaughter-in-law.”
My grandma nodded happily in agreement to her lover. I shook my head helplessly and led them over to the rest of the crew.
