Discovering Something Special - Chapter 8 The Meeting I
(Quincy’s POV)
I finally reached my apartment, happy to find an empty elevator. I can daydream about my darling until I reach the 35th floor.
“Hold it for me”, I heard. First reaction, close close faster. On second thought, be a gentleman and hold the elevator. The George Clooney in me held the elevator for the incoming guest. Trying to resume my daydream, she looked at me.
OhMyGod, those eyes again, that face, now with a hint of blush, damn right, I’m a goner. She’s got me and she’s got me good.
“What’s your name?”, she asked suddenly. I was tempted to say ‘Yours truly’, but I held back. Damn! When did I become such an uncontrollable flirt? I call this the Seraphina effect.
“Quincy. Quincy Davis. I assumed you went to granny Jacob. She didn’t tell you?”
“I assumed you told her not to tell me.”
“My bad. I sort of told her not to interfere with the way we meet. I’m a firm believer of fate”
“Is that so?”, she asked as she lifted her eyebrow again with her crinkled nose. God! I wanted to plant a kiss on that nose. ‘Mr. Self control, why did you abandon me?’ was what I was screaming in my head.
“You live on 35?” I finally asked after what seemed liked forever.
“Yes, I do. How old are you?”
“28”
“My granny was right after all. You are spicy”. Her smirk, her blushing cheeks, and her smiling eyes were doing things to me. Freaking picasso!
“How old is Seraphina?”
“21”
“Thank God, you’re legal,” I was secretly happy that I wouldn’t have to wait for her to ‘grow up’ or lurk around a young girl like a pedophile.
She squinted her eyes at me, then smiled. Her smile made me feel younger, high school years younger.
Then the elevator dinged. What a kill joy.
She alighted first, then I followed. She made her way to 3512, and I was right after her making my way to 3513.
“How come I never saw you before?” She asked in a really really really surprised tone.
“I’m a workaholic, but we have enough time to get to know each other”. I was so confident about that. I was gonna get her. Any weed that pops out will be uprooted. Seraphina Jacob will be mine (cue the Dr. Evil laugh).
“That explains it. Plus I hardly ever come out anyway. See you later Mr. Quincy,” then she winked at me before going in.
I went into my home and screamed silently in my head while breaking down on the dance floor. I’m dancing. Just a wink from her turned me into Michael Jackson. Yup! I’ve got a bad case of Seraphina fever. What a day. Thank you granny Jacob, I blessed her in my heart.
