Elise and Asher ran like being chased to the nearest emergency services centre of Avalon in order to find Airi and the others since the security crisis protocol of Avalon disabled their soul crystal after their last call
“As: just what is going on? Seismic action in the academy and residential area has been halted by the administrative council of Avalon so an earthquake of this magnitude should be impossible”
“E: maybe the mages in charge of moderating Avalon’s land made a mistake?”
“E: no, that’s unlikely”
Elise said shattering the thought
“As: Avalon’s earth mages were handpicked by the principal for their talent and responsibility so I highly doubt it”
“E: and even if they faltered, the Avalon emergency magic veins system should kick in and stabilise any irregularities”
Elise evaluates the situation
“As: so that can only mean…”
Asher pondered
“E: that someone has tampered with the seismic control centre of Avalon”
(As: this is bad)
(As: Avalon’s seismic control centre, an underground facility built on top of a massive multilayered magic formation powered by the natural swirling magicol inside the “veins” of the land)
(As: it’s one of the most safely guarded areas of Avalon, so much so that most people think it’s a myth and for good reason too)
(As: without the seismic control centre the stability of this floating island will drop and the land will slowly dismantle itself)
(As: not to mention the giant f*cking volcano not to far from the residential area)
“E: we’re almost there…wait what’s this?”
Elise pauses stopping in front of an giant crowd running in panic like them
“As: ahh crap”
“E: we won’t be able to get past them without using magic and even if we did we would never be able to find the others in this crowd”
Elise frowned continuously frustrated
At that moment her soul crystal suddenly rang shocking Asher
“As: that’s strange, I thought soul crystals were temporarily disabled”
“E: no, this is…”
Elise took out her soul crystal which was glowing a bright red colour instead of it’s usual blueish hue
“E: an emergency call!… it’s from my mom”
Elise explained
“Elise can you hear me?”
Principal’s Cornelia’s voice came through
“E: yeah I’m hear mom! What do you need”
“I need you to meet me in my office now! No buts, and bring any friend that you have with you right now”
The principal ordered
“E: I…”
“What did I just say!?”
“E: …understood! I’m with Asher I’ll bring him immediately”
Elise replies
“Good”
The principal said cutting the line
“As: what was that about?”
“E: don’t know…but if it’s from her it’s gotta be important, let’s go”
Elise said pulling on Asher’s arm
“As: Kay’”
(As: god I hope Airi’s okay)
Asher thought worried
(Why the hell did this have to happen when it’s so late at night?)
Meanwhile…
“It’s done”
The masked girl from before said through a foreign soul crystal
“Good job my dear, you have served us well, I’m counting on you code A”
A voice of woman said from the other side of the line
“I only did my part as a member of the proud vampire malady”
“Don’t be so formal my dear, you are like a daughter to me and I’ll take care of you”
“But for now we’ll have to part, I’ll be watching and so is “Utopia” so try your best out there A”
“Yes ma’am”
The girl was very short about half of a meter shorter than Elise and a quarter times shorter than Airi
She had a petite body similar to Elise but slightly less endowed
She was wearing a black gown with a mask and tight knee high socks
She then removed part of her mask revealing a set of fangs with blood dripping on them
She makes a crooked smile
“You cut us down we come back stronger, we are the footsteps of salvation and you will be trampled by our might, we serve none but the grand master as our enemies will soon serve us, salvation for this accursed world!”
She decreed an anthem in secret looking in the direction of the mage’s academy
Asher and Elise arrived at the school
Everyone seemed busy and preoccupied so they quickly sneaked past the teachers and staffs
They arrived at the large wooden door of the principal’s office and before they went in Elise paused for a moment
“E: before we enter I need you to promise me something…”
Elise’s tone was serious
“As: what is it?”
Asher asked
“E: whatever you do, don’t piss off the principal”
Elise said
“As: wait, why would I…”
Before Asher finished Elise came up to his face
“E: do you promise?”
She asked
“As:…I promise”
Hearing this Elise’s tone lightened and she turned to face the door
“E: good, then here goes nothing”
The moment they opened the door a bright light blinded them temporarily
When their visions returned they were in a room with two rows of sofa, exquisite paintings and other weird artefacts
“As: what the…”
Before Asher could finish a somewhat familiar and mature voice called out
“You two sure took your time”
Cornelia said, sitting at her table with her hands clapped together
