Distorted World: Rise Of The Black One - Volume 3 Chapter 108 18
“Ar: veni foras anguis domini (come forth, masters of the serpent)”
Arias chanted pointing her sword to the sky
A swirling storm of purple energy appears over her head with lightning lashing out at every direction
After a very aggressive light show two figures appeared in front of Arias
One was a man wearing a pure white garb with various exotic jewelry and a crown like hat made from a blue diamond-like material, his hands were filled with wrinkles and his skin has almost no pigmantation and it is so thin that you could probaly see his bones
The other man was clad in jet black full-plated metal armor his helmet had the shape that was a mix of a cat and a dragon, he stood roughly 17 feet (5 meters) towering over everyone else in the vicinity
Arias then promptly kneeled down on one leg and spoke in a respectful manner but there was also a slight fear in her voice as if she’s a child about to be reprimanded by an a.d.u.l.t
“Ar: welcome master Utopia and also elder brother Hansen”
“ahh yes…nicely done Arias, you have certainly went above and beyond my wildest expectations”
a croaking, senile voice cracks at Arias like a crow signalling someone’s funeral
“your pupil certainly has promise Hansen”
the man they called Utopia turned to the armored man
“that is why I brought her in”
a mechanical voice responded to Utopia it was almost as emotionaless as Asher’s voice
“well, now let’s move on to act 2 shall we? While Francis is keeping our dear principal company”
“Ar: as you wish”
Arias and Hansen said as they begin to approach the arena
meanwhile…
“Re: !”
something clicked in Regis’s head
(Re: this magic power, there’s no doubt about it someone at least level 40 or above just got teleported into Avalon)
(Re: accordind to records Utopia Coelum suffers from magic deficiency syndrome so he acn’t advance beyond level 40, but who’s the other one?)
“Re: doesn’t matter”
Regis said as he drives his spear/lance/shield into another one of those monster
“Re: time to retreat!”
regis blows on a horn signaling his troops
“Sa: what? already?”
“Si: about time”
“Ai: (sighs)… this is gonna be rough”
“E: all acording to plan”
“As: right on time to”
everone heard that
“Re: everyone listen up retreat to the main campus and if you can’t reach it for some reason retreat into the arena is also recomended”
(Re: using our own forces as bait not exactly the best stratergy I would’ve gone with but time is of the essence)
all the students who were fighting just a minute ago turn tailed and ran for their lives, although some were reluctant to
“danger! the main campus gate has been surrounded”
suddenly a student reported
“what? since when!? we made sure not one of them got pass us”
(Re: they opened a portal in the western area and made their way to both the arena and a main campus from there and from there they bolster their forces with the 2nd children while we were still busy with the first wave)
“As: this was their plan all along since they knew that we had the home turf advantage the main stratergy was always to overwhelm us with numbers and superior fire power from all sides, they sent in their precious named children and went to great lengths to hide them due to the importance of them in their strategy
(As: back in my old world there was a particular rule when fighting a war on the enemy’s turf, that when it comes to confrontation between armies the enemy will always win)
Asher ponders as he skips from building to building
(As: this unprecedented advantage hail from a variety of factors such as climate, terrain, diseases, strategies that are unique only to that particular region or support from within their domain, just look at the Vietnam war for example the Vietcong army managed to not only push back the superior US at the end of the war but score an absolute military victory against a global superpower despite being an insignificant third-world country at the time)
(As: there are however a few ways to bypass this, the first way is technological advancement like the US’s devastating MQ9 reaper UAV that can deliver precise pinpoint strikes to enemy points or the destructive MOAB (mother of all bombs) that can devastate armies with absolute organized precision, second is groundbreaking strategy like what the German Reich did to the Soviet Union when they invaded Russia during wwII or what Napoleon Bonaparte did during the Napoleonic war, third is to strike with such swift and overwhelming force that you pretty much render the enemy’s home turf advantage inert like what the Mongolians did with their vast army of cavalrymen. But nearly all of these methods require one thing: transportation, no matter what era it is transportation will always be one of the most crucial aspects of war, the ability to transport troops, military equipment and strategic assets like food, medicine etc. is paramount when you wanna mount a military invasion of a country, that’s why when a country is able to cut off their enemy’s supply lines the war is pretty much over)
(As: their plan from the start was to swiftly overwhelm us with numbers and since their named children were crucial to this since they can open portals into Avalon pretty much supplying their attack force with as much reinforcements as needed they were willing to sell out all of the other spies that they had planted in Avalon)
(As: the first wave was just a testing sequence used to flush out any other defenses that they haven’t already destabilize, the second will inevitably take over Avalon with all of the teachers and principal Cornelia gone)
“As: if you really think about it even if we were holed up in the main campus we would’ve inevitably lost too so they really accounted for everything whether we chose to fight or flight they would have won either way, it was just a matter of time”
“E: which is to say this battle was hopeless from the start and defending ourselves inside of the main campus would have lasted us longer right?”
Elise landed behind Asher
“As: our only hope is to wait for the principal and the other teachers to return, but order to do so we would need to hold back their army for a substantial period of time but considering the difference in our power that’s impossible, to do that we would need a miracle”
“E: and lucky for us I am a walking miracle”
Elise smirked
“E: how long do we have to hold out?”
Elise ask in order to reconfirm something
“As: six hours”
Asher answered
“As: ready?”
Asher asked as if mentally preparing himself for something
“E: to the arena?”
“As: yeah…”
