Distorted World: Rise Of The Black One - Volume 3 Chapter 91 1
“As: so what do you think?”
Asher said consulting Elise
“E: ehh…considering it’s my mom we’re talking about it’s not very surprising”
Elise smirked
“As: how much did you know about this?”
Asher asked with a stoic, interrogating voice
“E: I had a general idea but I didn’t think the old lady was this risky, although it would definitely be something that I would do being this reckless is unlike her…she’s got high hopes for you”
Elise said trying to avoid “that” topic
“As: so you knew…”
Asher’s face darkens
(As: I’m not amazed, I had a feeling something was up with Elise since day one, I just didn’t think that it was gonna affect me this much)
“E:…are you mad?”
Elise hesitantly asked
“As: am I mad? No, not really….”
Asher said shrugging it off
“As: since you love to annoy me by involving me in tiresome situations like this I had a feeling that this was gonna happen one day”
“As: but I had hoped that you would at least trust me enough to not withheld this kind of information from me”
Asher sighed
“E:…”
“As: well it doesn’t matter either way, it’s not like I’m in a position to judge you or the principal since I myself can’t say with absolute certainty that I wouldn’t do the same in your shoes”
(As: people like us survive by stepping on the freedom of others, even if we personally find it distasteful, sometimes things like this have to be done in order to preserve prosperity for all of us, that’s how society has always worked)
(As: freedom isn’t free, it is won through deceit and careful planning, this is why I hate socializing unlike logic, math or magic for that matter, their is no definitively right answer to a problem, the only thing you can do is try to find an answer that can benefit the most people and even if you can pull off that infuriatingly complicated goal, the results and methods you use will always end up wronging someone)
“E: I’m sorry…”
Elise awkwardly saids
“As: for what?”
Asher asked in monotone
“E: for manipulating you”
“As:…”
“As: whatever, so now all I have to do is confront the principal and figure out her master plan, then I’ll decide on what to do from there”
Asher resolved himself and began to walk away
Elise sat there for a bit…
“As: you coming?”
Asher asked
“E: yeah, right behind you”
(E: I probably shouldn’t have payed him this much attention, he will probably get hurt because of my naivety…why do the people I try to befriend always end up like this?)
A memory suddenly played in Elise’s mind:
“Remember! People are always furthest from what they genuinely desire the most, especially capable people, you must always be careful, for the power you wield will only lead to solitude”
A familiar man saids to a young girl
“E: it seems I’ve forgotten your advice once again”
Elise mused
“Do not try to get too close to anyone, the more attached you are to them the more susceptible they are to being hurt”
The kind bearded man with the quirky attitude was never far from her mind, some would say her first friend that she had
But there was something very strange about this man
He always seemed so…lonely
As she quietly approaches the principal’s office she prepared for the oh-so-familiar scene that’s yet to come
