“E: hey Asher…wait up!”

Elise called out running after Asher

“As: calm down, I’m only 4.3 meters away from you”

Asher said subtly mocking Elise

“E: (huff huff)…”

Elise needed a moment to catch her breath

“As: you have very poor endurance you know that? Although it’s surprising considering that you’ve always scored perfectly on all our P.E classes”

Asher said sarcastically

“E: shut up!”

Elise shouted

But right after that her tone became low again:

“E:…why did you say that?”

“As: what?…oh that, if you’re seeking confirmation then I can assure you I meant every word of it”

Asher affirmed with as much sincerity as his limited expressive self can muster

“E:…why!? Didn’t I betray you? I have been manipulating you since the first day we met”

Elise asked confused

“As: so what? I been using you as a shield to keep myself from being rip apart by the other boys so shouldn’t that make us even?”

Asher said

“E: those two things are not of the same scale!”

Elise screamed clenching her fist

(E: not only did I ignorantly endangered him, I selfishly tried to possess him just to quench my sense of loneliness and satisfactory)

“As: that’s true but those two things do have the same applications and methodology which makes them both logically comparable”

(As: I’ve had a suspicion for quite a while now…but now seeing that it’s true, well…the truth kinda stings)

“E: but still…”

At that moment something wrapped around Elise embracing her filling her with a strange feeling

“As: don’t get use to this okay? It’s just that drastic actions in tense situations have the possibility of snapping a person out of it”

Asher whispered into Elise’s ear

(As: she’s neither manipulative or malicious…)

(As: she’s…just like me…an incredibly lonely girl)

Asher lets go of Elise

“As: don’t act like that, aren’t you the type to do whatever you want no matter what happens?”

Asher said walking away

“As: that quality alone is what I find most endearing about being your friend”

“As: and it’s also the reason why I trust you the most…only you can bring out the best In me”

Asher walked away

(As: this is extremely contradicting for me, I know…but I can’t help it, she reminds me so much of what I wanted to be as a person…)

(As: the only difference is…between her and me, she didn’t give up on being human when the world took everything from her, it’s stupid and paradoxical but she is everything I am and everything that I’m not at the same time, and that for me is what makes her one of the only people I would consider my friend)

(As: there’s also another contradiction in this matter, I call myself an anti-social (and I am) and yet here I stand admitting that I desired her friendship)

(As: they say humans are living contradictories themselves, possessing free will yet still bound by the rules of higher forces that stand above us…)

(As: I guess that part of me, though I may never truly accept it is one of the only last shreds of humanity separating me from a monster)

Asher smirked for the second time in his life

(As: they say that two abysses cannot fill the emptiness of each other and that’s true, Elise and I will always remain one of the loneliest people on this planet, but in the end that’s one of the things that makes people like us…exceptional)

“As: I really do never change”

Experiencing something akin to a miracle Elise was dumbfounded standing there like a soulless husk

(E:…)

She smiled

A happiness began to fill her heart

“But, one day a person will come to like and fight for you, because no matter how hard we try, no one is truly ever alone”

That same man said those words to her

(As: well that should tie up all the loose ends for now, my relationship with Elise will remain a “not too close but not too faraway” one as usual, now onto the next thing on my to do list…)

(As: the complete destruction of any obstacles that stand in my way)

Asher declared in his head
