Divine Emperor of Death - Chapter 3877: Reliable Force
Davis began to think.
There were eight Divergents he could use, each one more powerful than the last. He couldn’t understand why the eldest disciples were in Level Six Empyrean Stage and not higher, but he guessed there was some kind of reason.
Regardless, he was looking to make use of their prowess.
The First Disciple, Qiyra Darkstar, a Level Six Empyrean, possessed the Starlight Devouring Veins.
The Third Disciple, Reval Heremic, another Level Six Empyrean, possessed the Core Cauldron Body.
Fourth Disciple, Frostcloud Sword Empress Glacia Frigidveil, possessed the Iceborne Calamity Body.
The Fifth Disciple, Jaiyan, an Anarchic Divergent and also a Level Six Empyrean, possessed the Heaven Severing Tongue.
The four of these people were in their avatars while the rest were using their main body.
The Sixth Disciple, Kisha Blackheart, a Demon Tree who appeared to be a Level Five Empyrean.
The same could be said about the Seventh Disciple, Isolde Grimsong, the possessor of the Oblivion Echo Soul.
Karyot, the Eighth Disciple, owner of the Warping Gust Wings, was a Level Four Empyrean, and the Tenth Disciple, Laphria Rinmei, the owner of Ethereal World Weaver Physique, was also a Level Four Empyrean.
With their powers in his mind, Davis felt like Jaiyan, Kisha Blackheart, Isolde Grimsong, and Laphria Rinmei would be the most useful in causing chaos. As for the powerful fighters, they would be Qiyra Darkstar, Glacia Frigidveil, and himself. Even Jaiyan could join the frontlines, but Davis felt it was best to keep him in the middle and disable the heavenly powers of the Heaven’s Warriors while the three of them attacked.
Nonetheless, he quickly asked Saintess Lunaria for her opinion.
She must have had a plan since she called him here.
“My disciples have already investigated a bit and know that the execution stage is nearly impossible to penetrate. It belongs to the Obsidian Crystal Turtle Minor Realm and is originally not a problem for us to break in.”
Saintess Lunaria waved her hand, gesturing at the projection as they saw the execution stage.
“However, changes have been made to that execution stage. There’s a barrier strong enough to defend against Level Seven Empyrean Stage attacks. It’s been active ever since your friends were made to stand on the execution stage this morning. But the defensive barrier isn’t the only problem.”
“There’s also an entrapment formation and killing formation where even Level Eight Empyreans would be unable to escape. There’s a strange masked executioner whose cultivation base is unknown. We can’t measure from here. Besides, we can’t deny if there’s a contraption that would kill them if we tried to set them free.”
“…” Davis raised his brows. That was really a lot for an Immortal King Anarchic Divergent.
Utmost, he imagined that there would be a killing formation at the Low-Level Empyrean Grade, but it seems like they brought High-Level Empyrean Grade Formations for him. It shouldn’t belong to the Obsidian Crystal Turtle Minor Realm, so he guessed that these formations belonged to the Heaven’s Warriors, although he didn’t know which organization.
However, he was aware that there would be contingencies in place.
Even if he was successful in killing others, they definitely wouldn’t let the death row inmates escape. There must be some kind of contraption around them that seals their fate or even some kind of hidden soul attack that is already implanted in them.
Davis didn’t care. If they died, he intended to revive them regardless of the consequences. The sooner he revived them, the less risky it was on the karmic burden and the change in the flow of fate.
Saintess Lunaria gently heaved a breath, “For you, they have gone all out. That’s also a part of the reason I stopped you. You wouldn’t survive even if you managed to kill everyone there. The same thing could be said even if you were unkillable. They would seal you as they have constructed a sealing formation under the execution stage.”
“…”
Davis pursed his lips, “I am aware that I would get screwed, but it doesn’t matter. A man’s gotta do what a man’s gotta do.”
“Haha, well said.”
Karyot, who was sleeping, jumped from the seat and pointed at Davis, “That does it for me. I will be willing to help you by having all of them chase me. Don’t worry. None of them could catch me unless they have specifically brought spatial formations that would work on me.”
“Just leave it to me to spread chaos.” Kisha Blackheart grinned, “I would drain everyone present, even the onlookers and the powerful Empyreans, if they made a move, but I won’t go as far as to kill them unless they really want to die.”
“As for the path to the execution stage, I and seventh junior sister will clear the path.” Jaiyan revealed a smirk.
“Fine with me. My Oblivion Echo Soul makes everyone stop in their place as their bodies would unwittingly react with a stifled feeling to the doom I imbue on them.” Isolde Grimsong nodded at Jaiyan.
“That would make it so that I’m the one left to deal with the formations?”
Reval Heremic appeared unamused. He sighed, “Fine, fine. I’m the man who is most fit to free them, as my Core Cauldron Body isn’t just for creating pills. However, I’ll depend on you to protect me while I work on the formations, fourth junior sister.”
“Leave it to me~”
Glacia Frigidveil smiled.
“Qiyra,” Saintess Lunaria opened her mouth, “You will protect the Divine Emperor of Death while Laphria Rinmei will create an escape path with her illusions.”
“Understood.” Qiyra Darkstar replied with a single word.
“Well, if it’s just the escape route, even I wouldn’t possibly fail~”
Laphria Rinmei giggled, not at all looking serious. Instead, her cheerfulness only made everyone smile.
Saintess Lunaria explained variations to the plan in case of contingency, causing Davis to continue gazing at her. Undeniably, she was a strategist, except there was no need for her to use her brain in the First Haven World because she had already conquered it and stood above all, not bothering to rule.
Now that she was in a place to fight for survival, the way she accounted for various risks made him look at her in another way. He didn’t think she was any less smart than Zenova Artoria, making him understand why the latter would enjoy conversing with the former.
He had seen her as a Saintess and respected her but didn’t think she was skilled in other things. However, it seems like he was wrong.
His gaze turned complicated.
There was no reason for her to care this much.
The other Divergents also thought the same. They felt she was placing him on a pedestal by caring too much. They could say the same thing to the realm official and the Heaven’s Warriors, who went as far as to use the sun to burn a corpse. Still, they intended to follow their master’s words. In their eyes, she was never wrong, and they were delighted to see her once again, intending to fulfill all her wishes.
After the planning ended, Davis finally took a close look at Saintess Lunaria before turning to look at the others.
She had created a big legacy in the form of these Divergents. Her disciples were all Divergents and vastly powerful, but most importantly, they didn’t stain their hands in evil even after living a long time.
If this wasn’t a result of Saintess Lunaria’s teachings, he didn’t know what it was.
Davis thought it was time he saw past their differences. At the very least, he didn’t intend to make a fuss when his friends’ lives were at stake. But then again, he wasn’t ungrateful enough to make a fuss about it after accepting her help.
He was reluctant to let go of the matter but was convinced that her plan would succeed even without having to take into account the treasure he had obtained.
*Crack!~*
At this moment, Davis realized something was breaking in his spatial ring.
“It’s time…”
Davis uttered, his expression turning solemn, “There’s an hour left for the execution, but the Heavenly Blight Hall has secured an escape route, and one of my acquaintances has begun wreaking havoc at the northern edge of this Minor Realm.”
Abruptly, Davis and the others could see a few Heaven’s Warriors and realm officials rushing out towards the north. It raised the alarm as the crowd went silent before clamoring heavily, wondering if the Divine Emperor of Death had appeared.
“Good.”
Saintess Lunaria had already incorporated Davis’s alliance with the Heavenly Blight Hall in their plan. She smiled and waved her hand.
“We’ll step out in a minute and free your sworn brothers.”
Davis smirked. He had never felt so relaxed as now. These reliable people had his back, or he so liked to think. He still had his guard up and didn’t change his mind about slaughter, but if he could get his friends back with the least amount of effort, he wouldn’t say no to it.
The problem is what came after it.
‘I… also have to save Clara….’
Davis clenched his fists. Although Clara didn’t appear to be in any danger, he heard she could be punished depending on the mandate from the Heavenly Guardian Consortium. It might arrive later today or tomorrow, as far as he heard, so before that, he felt like he must rescue her regardless of the consequences.
“Wait… what’s this… they’re going ahead with the execution?”
Suddenly, Karyot pointed at the projection. Over thirty Heaven’s Warriors stepped out, and fifty realm officials stepped out behind the execution stage as they descended from the obsidian castle behind.
All of them were Empyreans and Autarchs, many at the Early Stage and a few at the Mid Stage, while those who were at the High Stage could be counted with a single hand. Among them, Davis saw Empyrean Miller Skyrend and a few others he recognized from the information provided by the Heavenly Blight Hall.
His eyes searched for Autarch Yulan Nazarin and Clara, but he couldn’t locate them. He clenched his fists.
Nonetheless, on the execution stage, the Realm Master of the Obsidian Crystal Turtle Clan, Lombart Blackstone, appeared as he opened his mouth.
“The Divine Emperor of Death could be approaching as we speak to save you three. Unfortunately, that wouldn’t be possible as we have promptly decided to begin the execution early. Now, you have a brief amount of time to say your last words, so speak. We wouldn’t wait for long before glaive falls on your neck and shatters your souls.”
Thank you Divine Young Master Joselo for the Golden Gachapon!
Thanks again Solomon for the monthly Magic Castle showers!
