Divine Emperor of Death - Chapter 3913: Interrogation?
A purple-robed woman sat up on the bed, her expression devoid of emotions. Her blonde hair flowed back freely, untied. She turned her head and looked out the window as though looking into the distance. Her hair occasionally brushed against her face, making her look quite melancholic.
She had been treated with expensive healing pills, and even light energy healing was imbued on her. Yet, for some reason, she couldn’t bring herself to do anything, not even get out of bed.
It was as though she lost something even though everything was fine.
Her big brother had escaped and even crossed his tribulation as she expected. That news was joyous, but she felt a strange emotion, a strange void in her heart that left her feeling empty.
Perhaps it was the possibility that she might never meet him again, or it was because-
‘Brother said he didn’t need me anymore…’
Those words resounded in her mind again and again, making her lips curl. Those hurtful words stung her, yet she knew that wasn’t true as she knew her brother. He was the type of man to provoke a battle to the death between father and mother because he realized that they must either reconcile now or would never have the chance to do so.
She knew he was playing the villain when he decided to honor her decision. She believed he would do so when she told him to escape. He answered her like he was reading her mind. She was glad yet still hurt over those words. It was difficult to endure, but she didn’t think it would last long as the pain was receding with each passing moment.
“Clara…”
A small bird, cool to the touch, abruptly perched on her shoulder and rubbed its face against her face, intending to console her.
Clara lightly smiled and caressed Xiaolan back, feeling her coolness acting like warmth and relieving the pain.
“Don’t worry. I will always be together with you.”
“Mhm~”
Xiaolan cheered, causing Clara to nod. The former also knew Davis was acting because she knew what kind of antics he was capable of as Ellia was incessant about his adventures when he was little, doing all kinds of things a crown prince wouldn’t do, lying, disguising, and going out into the city to not have fun but do assassination missions.
Xiaolan knew he threw away Clara not to harm her but to protect her. Even she had to admit that the acting was so genuine as his death puppets attacked Clara and caused great damage, making her inwardly fume over his overblown actions.
However, she was thankful that he was thorough because Clara was now treated with care and respect.
Everyone witnessed her ending things with the Divine Emperor of Death. Now, there should be no problem with her integrating into their organizations and doing as she wished.
Suddenly, she flapped her wings and hid in Clara’s sleeves.
Two individuals entered the chamber after knocking on the door once and waiting a few seconds. They were none other than Autarch Elluro Coldwing and Empyrean Miller Skyrend. However, Clara knew one of them didn’t know the other.
Regardless, she didn’t bother and still glanced outside the window.
“So you are the new heir to the Transcendent Truth Eyes Physique and also happened to be the little sister of an Anarchic Divergent. Truly bewildering, but it’s real.”
Autarch Elluro Coldwing looked at Clara as he spoke, his voice odd but also full of curiosity. This was a case unlike he had ever seen. It was not only these siblings but also the strange movements of the Divergents. It all started happening three or four million years ago, slowly building up to this point.
His voice prompted Clara’s eyes to flicker before she turned to look at him, noticing that he was also a person who owned the Transcendent Truth Eyes. She knew lies wouldn’t work on him with the cultivation difference, not that she intended to lie in the first place.
“Greetings, fellow ruler.” Clara lightly cupped her hands while still in bed, “If you are concerned about anything, I would be glad to help. If not, I will have my rest before leaving for the Upper Realms, as I have decided to accept Autarch Yulan Nazarin’s invitation into the Divine Sentinel Order.”
“That’s perfect.”
Empyrean Miller Skyrend smiled brightly despite the weakness he felt. He was glad that Clara accepted Autarch Yulan Nazarin’s invitation since he was capable of recruiting her into the Divine Sentinel Order in the Upper Realm, unlike him since he could only do so for the Divine Sentinel Order in this layer.
Autarch Elluro Coldwing also satisfactorily nodded. He was also from the Divine Sentinel Order, so if another ruler would join them, it would be great.
He had some suspicions about her intentions, but there was no mistaking that she was a beloved Heaven’s Warrior. He could sense far more heaven’s influence from her than what he could from Empyrean Miller Skyrend. It was a mystery in and of itself, but it wasn’t his place to question the heavens.
He cupped his hands and thought carefully about his words before opening his mouth.
“The Divine Emperor of Death may have been your big brother, but that is no longer the case since he dared to attack you even amidst the public’s eyes. I wouldn’t call that sane, and even if it is nothing but a temperamental burst, he killed too many of our fellow Heaven’s Warriors. If you have any information on him that could help us lead to him and finish him once and for all, you would spare a lot of bloodshed and save time for us as numerous dangerous Divergents have popped out. If all of them run about, there’s no telling what would happen to the universe, much less the human race and the Celestial Transcendent Galaxy we’re in.”
“…”
Autarch Elluro Coldwing and Empyrean Miller Skyrend gazed at her. The latter held his stomach, seemingly enduring a painful ache from the crippled dantian before he went and sat on the couch nearby. On the other hand, Autarch Elluro Coldwing still stood beside Clara’s bed and stared at her, waiting for her reply.
Clara heaved a deep breath. She knew it was impossible to lie. She knew it was extremely difficult to play the game of wits as the other party was equally perceptive and intelligent as her. Ignorance would be just treated as non-compliance and would give her a bad hand in the future.
“I know a lot about my brother, but my family is also with him. My father and mother. My siblings. His children, who have done nothing wrong. I won’t stand to see any of them harmed. It would be foolish of me to do so.”
“We can promise not to harm your father and mother or anyone else that isn’t a Divergent.”
Autarch Elluro Coldwing quickly replied without a change in expression as though he knew this would be the case. He added, “We only need him and the Divergents among him like the Hex Demoness. In fact, we can even bring your parents up to the Upper Realms and protect them. It is one of the benefits of joining a Heaven’s Warrior organization that everyone receives. While you are out there exterminating evil, the organization will protect your family from any retaliation.”
“Even so— I won’t engage in acts of betrayal as I know my parents love my big brother so much that they would give their life for him. Hunting him there is basically the same as them dying. I won’t reveal their location. If you want to know, you better soul search me, but be prepared to do it over my dead body.”
Clara glared at Autarch Elluro Coldwing.
The latter frowned at her stubbornness. He knew it was nearly impossible to soul-search a Heaven’s Warrior of this caliber. The heavens wouldn’t allow it. Even he, a fellow Transcendent Truth Eyes Physique owner, would not be able to get anything out of her.
However, he wasn’t completely at a loss.
Autarch Elluro Coldwing dropped his hands, “A Heaven’s Warrior would place the safety of the universe over their family. You’re not a Heaven’s Warrior yet in heart and soul, as no one taught you the ways while you were under the presence of an Anarchic Divergent. However, I would still like to give you a chance. Don’t make me use my Transcendent Truth Eyes on you. We both know that I can force you to spit out the truth even without having to soulscour.”
“…”
Clara shuddered ever so lightly.
She absolutely knew that he could make her spit out the truth. As a Transcendent Truth Eyes Physique owner, she had used Mandate Laws countless times as an Empress to make people spit out the truth. She knew how overpowered it was.
Autarch Elluro Coldwing was an entire stage higher than her, and his prowess was even higher, making her feel like a tiny ant in the presence of a huge dragon looking to stomp her.
“Try it. I will fight you with all I have.”
However, Clara’s gaze didn’t bend. She looked at him with wide eyes, not giving up.
“Alright, that’s enough.” Empyrean Miller Skyrend intervened.
However, Autarch Elluro Coldwing made him sit back as he waved his hand and pushed him down.
“Your Highness! Don’t be hasty.” Empyrean Miller Skyrend struggled to reach out his hand, “She will receive a mandate soon from the Heavenly Guardian Consortium that determines her fate, but if you attacked before that- you could be punished.”
“Go ahead and report. I care not under the weight of that Anarchic Divergent’s calamitous presence. You know how dangerous the Divine Emperor of Death is.”
Autarch Elluro Coldwing coldly uttered, causing Empyrean Miller Skyrend to be unable to say his following words. After all, now that it was highly speculated that the Divine Emperor of Death was in possession of a forged fragment of a Primeval Law Treasure, his threat level was also so high that they needed to pour all efforts in order to end him.
If he was in the Upper Realms, even the Heaven’s Warriors above Empyrean and Autarch Stage would all be scrambling to kill him without wasting time.
Autarch Elluro Coldwing’s white pupils shone purple, the heaven and earth energy around him becoming alarmed as he opened his mouth.
“Clara Alstreim, reveal all the possible whereabouts of the Divine Emperor of Death!”
