Divine Emperor of Death - Chapter 3956: The Authority Of A Supreme Genius?
“What’s wrong?”
The two black-robed couldn’t act like they didn’t notice Master Taiwu’s outburst. One of them asked. It was the man who kept a composed expression and sat in a refined manner.
“…”
Master Taiwu turned to look at them and forced a smile.
“Nothing is wrong. There’s a bit of trouble in the logistics, that’s all.”
“It doesn’t seem like that with how you reacted, but we’ll take your word on it and wait for a bit more time.”
“Yes, the item will be here in a few minutes.”
Master Taiwu nodded. He sat back down as his smile faded.
His eyes focused on the black-robed woman in front of him in the storage room.
“Who are you? You would not be a nameless person if you were this powerful.” He asked her, his expression solemn and his voice suppressing his hate.
“Who I am is none of your concern. I told you to bring your main body here, but it seems like you want to test my patience.”
“You all— end him~”
“No!” Master Taiwu reached out his hand, “I will be here shortly!”
“Stop~”
Mingzhi raised her hand, causing the bodyguards who were inches away from ending Young Master Taiwu’s life to stop. The person of interest was knocked out from being unable to bear the pain. He was not even allowed to escape from his fleshly body as a soul.
“If you want to inform your fellow Autarchs, go ahead. I do not care because I have the confidence to walk out alive. I bet you would even kowtow and beg me to spare you as your son did over there.”
She walked over to him, arriving by his side without even the slightest hint of putting her defenses up.
Her carefree mannerism, devoid of caution, shook Master Taiwu’s heart.
He imagined that only a supreme genius from an Upper Realm or even a Greater Realm could have this kind of bearing. It was simply impossible to challenge him otherwise.
However, his lips curled into an amused smile.
“I’ve heard that supreme geniuses are all eccentric and fear nothing. I’ve finally seen the brightest example I could see in my life. Tell me, what do you want?”
“You aren’t kowtowing yet?” Mingzhi side-eyed him, her eyes full of glare.
It made Master Taiwu narrow his eyes, but after some consideration, he actually went to his knees.
“…”
Davis’s jaws almost dropped.
Young Master Taiwu kept repeating those words, and Mingzhi used them against his father.
To think a supreme genius had such authority… Davis was intrigued but also felt indignant. After all, he crossed the ranks of supreme geniuses long ago but wasn’t getting appropriate respect because he was widely known as an Anarchic Divergent.
On the other hand, Mingzhi was practically unknown.
No one knew she was a Divergent herself. Everything she did was as covert as possible, remaining within the darkness. Perhaps she would get exposed sooner or later as the one behind the Divine Emperor of Death’s
Nonetheless, he knew Mingzhi didn’t want him to interfere because she wouldn’t want his identity to be exposed. He stayed quiet, letting her have her fun as she seemed to be enjoying it.
Shirley, Lea, and the twins gathered behind him, fading into the background.
Right now, there was only Mingzhi in the scene, and they watched her command Master Taiwu as if he were her servant. They knew she was buying time until the head storage keeper returned with a plethora of valuable treasures, so they had to play the part as well.
For this reason, Flamerose, Frostrose, Shirley, and Lea all kept their regal and imperial bloodline suppressed. They didn’t leak an ounce of their aura. Fortunately, Sophie also created the black robes they wore. It concealed their auras a lot, so unless they forgot about suppressing their aura, they didn’t need to worry the slightest.
Mingzhi and Master Taiwu exchanged words back and forth, still bent on finding her identity. She kept dodging as she walked around him with poise.
“So you’re telling me that all this wealth you earned is completely fair and just?”
“Yes, they’re completely earned through my hard work. It doesn’t matter what is for sale. It matters how it was obtained, and my tracks are clean. You can check every transaction available in the records.”
Mingzhi’s eyes narrowed, “Then that rabbit there still belongs to the Upper Realm that imprisoned it, no? How dare you auction it away?”
“No, their possession of the rabbit ended when they let her escape and failed to retrieve her after she escaped from the imprisoned realm. Of course, they could argue for the legality of the sale and try to claim her back under the laws of some realms, but even then, they would have to pay up at least fifty percent of the estimate or the final auction price.”
He turned to look at Mingzhi, frowning, “It can’t be that you’re also here for the rabbit, right?”
Master Taiwu blinked.
There were also two esteemed guests who came for her and offered a high price. He didn’t know who they were, but he certainly didn’t expect the rabbit to fetch such a price even at the auction, from his experience, so he agreed to the deal.
Of course, the rabbit surviving a great ordeal was also a part of her charm, making her unique, but if her luck had been so good, then she wouldn’t have been caught in the first place.
However, who were they? They were traders.
They could argue that she would give luck to those who owned her, just like owning a lucky jade bracelet or something similar.
Who wouldn’t want to own an item that gave them immense luck?
After all, cultivation and prowess might be one thing, but without luck, one would end up meeting a terrifying fate.
“If I am, what are you going to do?”
Mingzhi boldly asked and even sneered at him.
“O’ Moon Fairy, your eyes are enticing me to sin when I already agreed to a deal.”
Master Taiwu lowered his head and sounded pitiful, “They’re above, waiting to get the rabbit.”
“Oh? Who are they?”
“…”
For the first time, Master Taiwu felt like he had the upper hand as he sensed the black-robed woman become curious, her voice even somewhat surprised.
In the main room, his eyes returned to focus as he looked at the two black-robed men. Their eyes were on him, relentlessly scanning his expression as they tried to garner something.
“I thought so. Someone has intruded into your storage space, and you’re having trouble, aren’t you?”
The calm man stood up, his gaze sharp, “Lead us there.”
“…”
Master Taiwu’s heart sank. Was his expression that obvious? He was starting to feel less of himself as a trader.
