Divine Emperor of Death - Chapter 3959: Second Invitation
Davis chuckled lightly, “Well, their Young Master tried to bully one of my people and harm her. The Young Master’s father wanted to save his son despite all of his shortcomings and even dispose of us without knowing what happened. I gave them a few chances to apologize, but they were not sincere. What can I do other than kill and plunder?”
“Ridiculous. If you want to steal, just steal. Why go through such justification? It’s nothing but nonsense.”
“Justification? Tsk, tsk,” Davis sneered as he clicked his tongue, “These are called consequences. I guess someone who has never suffered consequence wouldn’t understand that.”
Hallen’s gaze went cold.
He took a step forward, but Halbren grabbed his shoulder and stopped him.
“Divine Emperor of Death. It’s as you said. Consequences befall those who don’t know their place and do all kinds of things they think they could back up with their strength. Are you sure you want to have such an attitude in front of us?”
“You’re saying I’m going to suffer if I keep talking rudely?”
Davis chuckled, “Sure, but it is also imperative to know your own place before you make a move on someone you think can’t handle the consequences.”
Halbren smiled, “You are indeed courageous to take on the Heaven’s Warriors and live to tell the tale. I think we’re going to love having you in our ranks if you can hold your own against us, against the leader, as not a single one of us is looking to be under someone else.”
“…”
Davis couldn’t help but smile.
Sure enough, Divergents were never the type to mingle with each other. Even if they did, this kind of relationship wouldn’t be possible for a long time without something connecting them.
“…”
While they were talking, Master Taiwu still had his head grasped by the two Dark Apostles.
He inwardly cried, wondering if he should become their slave to save himself. Otherwise, he couldn’t see himself surviving this ordeal. It would be the same even if other Autarchs who had vested interests in this company came for him.
“Well,” Davis heaved a breath, “I don’t know about becoming the Fifth Dark Apostle, but I sure do want to borrow the resources of the Heavenly Blight Hall to put my plans into motion. If you have a position with fewer restrictions, I’d be willing to enter. Otherwise, feel free to be in touch. I won’t say no to something that piques my interest.”
“Haha.” Hallen laughed before he waved his hand, “None of the Dark Apostles are restricted heavily. We are our own people and can do whatever we want except cause trouble while we’re in hiding. The only one whom he barely listens to is the leader, but that might change in the future. As long as you entertain what the leader says, you don’t need to listen to the others and still have access to our resources.”
“Indeed.” Halbren nodded, “The position of the Fifth Dark Apostle is open for you as it is the prerogative of our leader. If you had accepted it, we were willing to take you to our headquarters in the Upper Realms and allow you to grow much faster.”
“…”
Davis looked at them with a suspicious glance.
He couldn’t tell if they wanted him badly for his prowess or intended to do something with him in the future. For all he knew, he may even be a sacrifice or bait for some grand plan they had.
However, he understood going to the Upper Realms would aid his cultivation much faster.
The reason why Empyreans and Autarchs here took a hundred thousand or even a million years to improve a single level was because the resources here were scarce. Besides, the gap between each level in the Empyrean Stage was extremely vast that even with resources, it was said that it would take a minimum of a hundred thousand years of normal cultivation with Peak-Level Immortal Crystals to increase one level and become increasingly harder in the mid and late stages.
If he hadn’t absorbed Stella’s primal yin, which contained the energy of four mini realms as she was in the fourth cycle, he wouldn’t have easily increased his cultivation to Level Three Immortal Emperor Stage. After all, his max prowess had reached the starting point of Mid Empyrean Stage.
Every single level he would have to cross became increasingly difficult. He was unsure if he could get to the Late Immortal Emperor Stage within this decade, even considering how fast his cultivation was with resources and dual cultivation.
Regardless…
Davis raised his hand, “There are a few conditions.”
“Firstly, none of you are to ever be near my family members without my permission. Secondly, I may have attacked my little sister out of fury, and you people may have tried to assassinate her, but I’ll say it again. Only I can kill her. Only I can discipline her and bring her back to her senses. The rest of you don’t touch her, or we’re going to have a problem. Lastly, I do things at my own pace. If you or your leader agree to these demands, I’ll join as the Fifth Dark Apostle. You’ll have me as a huge ally who could help when in danger or just leave me alone.”
Davis was forthright with his thoughts, hiding nothing.
If they accepted his conditions, then it was good. If they didn’t, that was also fine.
He wasn’t starved or desperate enough to get into some power that could shield and nurture him under their powerful umbrella.
“…”
Halbren and Hallen looked at each other.
They couldn’t make this decision by themselves, but they smirked, knowing that their leader would accept it anyway.
“Sure.”
Halbren threw an item to Davis. The latter caught it and saw that it was a black medallion. It had a golden imprint of a picture- blight filling the cloudy skies.
“As long as you own that, the assassins will recognize you to be the Fifth Dark Apostle. If you need anything, just contact Cyprusio through the medallion. Don’t worry; only the leader will know your location through the medallion, but he is not here and won’t be coming here. As for us, we will be on our way back to the Upper Realms if you are not coming with us, but we’ll wait for you for three days in case you change your mind. You will know where to look as the medallion can resonate with other medallions if we allow it to.”
“…” Davis kept staring at the medallion before he looked at them.
“That’s all?”
“What? You expected weird rituals or something?” Hallen chuckled playfully, “Don’t mistake us for some foolish dark deviants or cultists. We do what we do to survive and get rid of thorny vines who continuously try to harm us.”
He coolly turned around and left along with his brother.
“Damn, I almost forgot about this…”
However, he suddenly stopped and threw the severed head to Davis.
Master Taiwu couldn’t be anymore thrilled to fall into the Divine Emperor of Death’s hands that his severed body began pissing itself lightly.
