Divine Emperor of Death - Chapter 3965: Recent Gains
“Sigh…”
Davis heaved a breath as he walked into the hallway, still feeling hot from the passionate exchange with Eldia.
He wished she would learn how to behave, but she was wild as ever, seducing him as she pleased. It wasn’t like he disliked her actions. Mingzhi was also similar, but she knew how to hide it from children, unlike Eldia. After all, Eldia would rather blabber everything to brag rather than hide.
To Eldia, being bedded by him was something to be extremely proud of. She didn’t care if a man or wrathful deity heard that, much less children. That’s why he warned her not to reveal this to a child like Calypsea in the name of bragging.
Nonetheless, he sighed again, wishing he could feast more of her, but obviously, he had filled her up to the brim, and any more would start affecting her body as a whole, injuring her.
Dual cultivation was not a joke. It was a mixing of two energies. If something went wrong, their genitals could snap or explode. If an Empyrean pounded an Immortal Emperor without control, the latter’s entire lower body could explode.
At higher stages, one must be more careful than ever.
That’s why he had left.
Finding nothing to do, he wondered if he should step out but decided not to. His bad luck might return, and he would have to fight again and again until he made the entire city burn. It was not conducive, so he stayed put until it was time to leave. He used the remaining time to actually play with Calypsea, giving her much joy.
She even said how joyful it was without Eldia. Davis could only wonder how possessive spirits were. It also reminded him of Zephya, who wanted him, but he refused her and gave her some excuse. He was still on the fence about her, not knowing what to do.
However, he was also aware that he and Fiora needed her for the annihilative heavenly wind. Zephya was the only source from who they would be able to procure annihilative heavenly winds, but it was unlikely that the quality of her winds would increase even if the strength of the winds increased.
He felt like he must find a way to address that issue, or his physique would suffer sooner or later in the Empyrean Stage.
Finally, Calypsea was tired from playing too much. She was still growing, after all. Her fleshly body needed sustenance, which the lollipops mostly took care of. He put her to sleep by tucking her on the bed. However, she didn’t let his hand go.
Davis’s expression softened as he looked at her sleepy face.
She always slept inside Lea’s soul sea, so he understood she was pretty dependent. This might probably be her first time sleeping outside.
‘Hmm… I may have spent more time with Calypsea than my own children…’
Davis felt bad. Fortunately, his avatar back at home may be doing a better job at being a father. He made a mental note to spoil his children with love after he got back. After Eterna and Celestia made their wishes known, he didn’t think he would make a mistake again.
Not wanting to waste time, he went through the treasures he gained.
‘Hmm… let’s see what’s here. Oh, that’s Cosmic Dust Fern… Low-Level Empyrean Grade space-attributed treasure.’
Davis found a fern that had its fronds shimmering with a faint, ethereal glow, each leaf reflecting the nebula of stars within the vast space. The edges shifted from blue to purple, giving it a strange pulsation that made it appear as though it was phasing in and out of the spatial layers.
Even within the semi-transparent jade container, tiny particles of cosmic dust drifted around, suspended in the air like purple fireflies.
Despite being a lowly fern, it looked very beautiful.
Davis knew this treasure would upgrade one’s master of Space Laws and provide an intense amount of spatial energy to store within the dantian.
‘Wonderful. It should be useful to Stella or Lea… I gave Stella the Vast Nebula Orchid, so this should go to Lea…’
Davis smiled satisfactorily before scanning the other treasures. Only the truly important treasures were brought, so there was a low amount of treasures, but even within these treasures, there were only five he could spot that were Low-Level Empyrean Grade Treasures.
The treasures themselves were not bad, but their quality was low.
‘Well, that’s what you get for remaining in Lower Realms, I guess….’
There were treasures of Empyrean Grade in Lower Realms, but most were of low grade and low quality since most treasures were already picked and did not have enough time to mature even if they were born anew.
The Cosmic Dust Fern didn’t appear to have reached maturity yet, but he thought he could take care of it.
As for the other treasures, he spotted a Crimson Solarburst Sunflower, a yang-attributed treasure at the Low-Level Empyrean Grade, also not having reached maturity.
Instantly, he knew this treasure was going to Sophie or Shea as it increased provided yang-attribute to one’s Fire Laws. Golden Crows would practically throw themselves at this treasure since it increased their chances of becoming Emperor-Tier by twenty percent at maturity. However, he stole it before it could be auctioned, making him inwardly laugh.
He was aware he had caused huge losses to Taiwu, which would probably set him back by over half a million years, but if everything went alright, he was confident that he could make Taiwu a big trader.
Davis continued to look at the sunflower. It had a fiery crimson petal and glowed like a miniature sun, releasing a golden-red light. The stem was orange, and the leaves were vibrant gold, pulsing with raw yang energy. There were occasionally sparks of a light flare from the leaves.
It was said if someone messed up while collecting this treasure, its energy could spiral out of control and lead to a massive solar flare within a fifty to hundred-kilometer radius, burning everything in its wake. Not even Immortal Emperors would survive.
These were great resources for law comprehension but, at the same time, scary to be around.
Davis was intrigued and moved on to the other three treasures.
There was a water-attributed Low-Level Empyrean Grade Treasure, Tidal Iris Coralweed.
It was a great treasure that healed most injuries, especially almost all injuries within the Low-Level Empyrean Grade, and bestowed mastery of Water Laws.
Davis didn’t know who to give this treasure to. It was unneeded as Water Laws were no one’s main attribute. He faintly remembered Ivy Aries, but she wasn’t the type to accept gifts easily, and she wasn’t family either, so he didn’t know what to do and put it on the back burner.
‘This one will go the Davis Family’s Treasury…’
He decided and looked at the last two treasures.
Similar to the last three treasures, they were both Low-Level Empyrean Grade but much more rare as they contained dual attributes.
One was the Inferno Astral Blossom, a fire-space attribute.
He felt it was literally perfect for Lea. He wondered if he should give her both the Cosmic Dust Fern and Infernal Astral Blossom. After all, he felt like he hadn’t taken care of her much. He knew this would give a significant boost to Lea, becoming excited for her.
The other treasure was called the Mirage Cloudray Daffodil.
It was a light-illusion attribute resource. Davis couldn’t help but think it was perfect for Yotan since she trained in both laws, although she doesn’t use illusions much. However, he knew she was skilled in Spirit Formations, so this was bound to come to be of great help to her as it would allow her to keep her inscriptions from failing and be more etched into the space with light energy.
From watching Laphria Rinmei, Saintess Lunaria’s tenth disciple, he knew there was more to Illusion Laws than meets the eye.
“…”
Still, Davis wondered if Yotan was doing fine. She even refused to use the diluted Gilded Realm Ascendant Pill, so he also wondered if she would refuse this gift.
‘Does she feel that my love is too much to bear…?’
Davis wryly smiled.
He hoped that she would accept his gifts, but she hadn’t come out of seclusion, almost as though she was avoiding him. He knew she was trying to become strong without relying on him, but he didn’t want her to suffer too much hardship.
He wondered if she realized that they were all monsters fueled by incredible resources and not some natural beings who were incredibly talented enough to defy fate. Did she think of him as a deity or something?
Davis sighed lightly, deciding to convince her again. He loved her for her character and not her power.
Finally, the third day passed, and there was no sign of the Third Dark Apostle or Fourth Dark Apostle. Halbren and Hallen didn’t come for him. They didn’t make the talisman resonate, either.
Davis was a bit taken aback as he suspected they were going to do something sooner or later to force him to come with them, like leaking his location to the Heaven’s Warriors. However, it seemed that they truly didn’t care if he went with them to the Upper Realms. There was no enforcement, at least for now.
“Guess I am the Fifth Dark Apostle then…” Davis took out the talisman, looking at it closely for the fourth time.
He had checked it previously two more times, even having Fallen Heaven probe it. There wasn’t any sign of voyeur from it, so he understood that it was safe. The talisman was also just at Empyrean Grade, but it wasn’t above his probing strength.
He thought of contacting Dark Archbishop Cyprusio to go through their treasury but changed his mind.
‘Finding the Lunarisse Empire’s Treasury would be more apt…’
Davis decided. Sometime later, they finally left.
