Chapter 12 Where Did You Learn to Stir-Fry Noodles Like That? It’s Like Watching a Kung FU Performance!
Burp~!
The man, without realizing it, had eaten the entire box of stir-fried noodles.
The little boy next to him was on the verge of tears.
“Dad, that was my stir-fried noodles, and you ate it all! You promised to just take one bite!”
The man looked embarrassed, coughed, and said, “Dad didn’t have breakfast either, so I had a few bites. Don’t cry, we’ll just buy more.”
He turned to Lu Qin and said, “Boss, your stir-fried noodles are amazing! They’re so delicious. Let me get two more orders, with egg, ham, and lean meat!”
Lu Qin nodded.
“Got it. Do you want mung bean soup? It’s sweet and refreshing.”
Lu Qin opened a foam cooler, revealing neatly packed cups of mung bean soup.
“Sure, let’s get two cups. How much for everything?”
“The first order is already paid for. The next two stir-fried noodles are 26 yuan, and two cups of mung bean soup are 7 yuan, so 33 yuan in total.”
The man scanned the code and paid. “Boss, you go ahead and make the noodles, we’ll grab the mung bean soup ourselves.”
Father and son each took a cup of mung bean soup, popped in a straw, and started sipping away.
“Dad, this mung bean soup is so smooth and delicious!”
“Yeah, it really is. Boss, your mung bean soup has a unique taste. My wife made some with a blender the other day, but it can’t compare to yours. The texture alone is miles apart.”
The two of them finished their mung bean soup on the spot, feeling refreshed. By this time, the noodles were ready, and they eagerly started eating again right where they stood.
Passersby noticed how hungrily they were devouring the noodles, and many stopped in their tracks.
They couldn’t help but wonder.
Is this stir-fried noodles really that good?
“One order of stir-fried noodles, boss! It looks really tasty!”
“Grandma, I want some noodles too!”
“Boss, your stand looks so clean and hygienic. I’ll take two orders to go, with egg, ham, and lean meat.”
“Chen Xinyu’s mom, there’s a new stir-fried noodle stand here, and it’s delicious. Come over and buy some!”
“Really? I’ll take two orders, and two cups of mung bean soup as well.”
…
A few minutes later, Lu Qin’s noodle stand was surrounded by a crowd. First, the rich aroma of the stir-fried noodles drew people in. Second, some customers were standing by the roadside, savoring every bite, which made many others crave the noodles too.
Although there were eight or nine other food stands in front of Sunshine Elementary School, they offered the same few items every day, and the taste was pretty mediocre. Some of the food was even bad, so people usually bought breakfast just to fill their stomachs. Today, however, Lu Qin’s stir-fried noodles were a rare treat, and people flocked to his stand.
Once one person lined up, others followed. Soon, there was a second, a third, and then a growing crowd. The other food stands were suddenly deserted.
“Everyone, please don’t push. Line up, and we’ll serve you one by one,” Lu Qin called out as he swiftly stir-fried each batch of noodles.
There was no pause between batches, and the workload was intense, but Lu Qin didn’t feel tired, and his arms didn’t get sore.
It seemed that the ‘Tireless’ aura he had won from the system’s lottery last night was working perfectly, eliminating any sense of fatigue and giving him extra energy.
“Boss, just keep cooking. We’ll handle the packaging ourselves.”
“I don’t even want to pack mine. I can’t wait until I get home—I’m starving!”
“Boss, you have to come every day! I could eat your stir-fried noodles for ten days straight and never get tired of them.”
“Everyone, make sure to order your noodles with all the toppings so the boss can cook everything together and save time!”
…
In just half an hour, Lu Qin had stir-fried almost fifty portions of noodles, and the customers waiting in line were amazed by his speed.
“Wow, young man, where did you learn to stir-fry like that? It’s like watching kung fu, so fast and precise!”
“No wonder the noodles you make are so delicious, you really have some serious skills!”
“Boss, do you need to take a break? Just watching you makes me tired, the wok and spatula are practically sparking!”
Lu Qin was not only handsome but also had an elegant technique when flipping the wok, making it a sight to behold. As customers waited in line, they couldn’t help but watch and comment.
People were concerned that Lu Qin might get tired, but after observing him for a while, they noticed he was still relaxed, showing no signs of fatigue.
Everyone was impressed by how effortlessly he kept cooking without taking a break.
How is this possible? Don’t his arms get tired?
Customers who got their noodles couldn’t resist opening the box and taking a bite right away. One bite filled their mouths with a fragrant flavor.
“Oh wow! These are some seriously good stir-fried noodles! The best I’ve ever had!”
“It’s so good. I’m already on my second serving, and I’m not even tired of it.”
By 8:20 a.m., there were still plenty of parents pulling their children to buy noodles.
The teachers at the school gates began urging the students.
“There are only ten minutes until the gates close. Students are still buying breakfast, please hurry up!”
“Ugh! How are there still so many people in front of us? Can we move faster? My kid needs to get to school!”
“Son, how about I just buy you a bun? We don’t have time to wait for the noodles!”
“I don’t want a bun! I want stir-fried noodles! I tasted my classmate’s earlier, and this place has the best noodles ever. I have to get some!”
“Oh my, we’re going to be late for school! Please hurry up, everyone in front!”
“Ma’am, you’re buying five portions? Do you really need that many? How about leaving some for the rest of us!”
“These noodles are really good. I’m buying them for my husband, my son, my daughter-in-law, and my grandson to try,” the old woman replied,
“Boss, I’ll take five portions too. Add all the toppings, and I’ll also need five cups of mung bean soup. I’ve already paid. Where are the bags for the soup?”
“Hey man, why are you buying five portions too? You don’t even have a family to feed! We’ve been waiting forever!”
“Stop complaining! I’ve got a big appetite and need five portions in one sitting. Got a problem with that?”
“Forget it, I’m not waiting anymore. We’re going to be late for school!”
The noisy crowd in front of Lu Qin’s noodle stand left the other breakfast vendors nearby stunned.
What’s going on?
Where did this stir-fried noodle stand come from?
We’ve never seen it before.
It’s just stir-fried noodles—can they really be that good?
This is ridiculous!
With only three minutes left until 8:30, a few parents forcefully dragged their kids through the school gates. The children who didn’t get to eat the stir-fried noodles hung their heads in disappointment, clearly unhappy.
A couple of more stubborn ones sat on the ground, refusing to enter the school until they had their noodles. After receiving a few slaps from their frustrated parents, they finally cried their way into the building.
Even the teachers and security guards at the school couldn’t help but glance in Lu Qin’s direction, wondering just how good those stir-fried noodles must be to make kids not want to attend school. From a distance, though, they could smell the delicious aroma wafting from the cart. It did smell pretty amazing.
As the gates of Sunshine Elementary slowly closed, the morning crowd began to thin out. The kids headed to class, and the adults went off to work.
Lu Qin stir-fried the last three portions of noodles, packed them up, and handed them to a waiting middle-aged woman.
“Here are your three orders of noodles. Please take care.”
“They all say your mung bean soup is also delicious. Do you still have any?”
“The mung bean soup is sold out. Come earlier tomorrow,” Lu Qin replied.
“Alright,” the woman said, clearly disappointed, and walked away.
By the end of the morning, Lu Qin had sold nearly 120 portions of stir-fried noodles. He had been stir-frying non-stop, but surprisingly, his arms didn’t feel sore at all. It was a strange but wonderful feeling.
As the rush hour passed, the other food stands began to pack up and leave. Several vendors glanced at Lu Qin with a mix of envy and frustration as they walked by. This new guy’s business was just too good—it was almost unbelievable.
Lu Qin took a cloth and wiped down the counter. There weren’t many crumbs or pieces of food left on it, just a bit of grease. He wiped it carefully. His food cart had a bucket of clean water stored specifically to ensure everything stayed tidy.
Seven or eight minutes later, the area had cleared out, with only one last food stand selling hand-grabbed pancakes still packing up. There really wasn’t anyone left to serve.
Lu Qin decided it was time to wrap things up too.
Just as he was about to close up shop, a group of old men and women turned the corner. As soon as they spotted Lu Qin’s cart, they quickened their pace and headed towards him.
“Uncle Ge?”
