Don’t Fall In Love With Me Mr. Ceo - Chapter 26
Mia and Stephanie spent the time talking until they were called by Mia’s mother to eat. It was simple soup dish, Stephanie remembered that she like this particular food when they were kids. She looked at Mia’s mother with a hint of surprise and envy, but her expression changed as fast as it appeared when she saw Mia’s mother looking at her kindly while eating.
“Thank you for the meal, Aunty. It was delicious.” Stephanie said with a hearty laugh.
“You’re welcome to come here anytime. It’s too bad my husband is still working.” Mrs. Hill said with a warm smile.
“Don’t worry. I’ll come here again with my brother.” She said with a wink.
“I think he’s too busy to be coming here. He is the CEO of your company.” Mia said while giving Stephanie the stink eye. “What exactly do you do in your company? Because I always see that you’re free.” Mia asked curiously.
“Me? I’m a bonafide neet.” Stephanie said while laughing and walking away, heading towards her care.
“Fine, don’t tell me,” Mia shouted while looking at Stephanie’s back. She had a disapproving look on her face.
“Time sure pass by fast, you’re all grown-ups now.” Mrs. Hill said while giving Mia a short hug before heading back inside the house.
“Yeah, it sure does,” Mia said while looking at the stars in the night sky.
While the two girls were having fun, William, on the other hand, was meeting with people on his supposed day off.
“William, this lady is from a good family background. You know you’re not getting any younger. You should look for a woman instead of always focusing on your work.” An old fat middle age guy said. His eyes were squinting while looking at William, he was trying to find Williams’ reaction with the picture that he showed.
“Director Grant, this is a business meeting. If this is not about business matters, then do not use my precious time to introduce women to me.” William said coldly and bluntly towards this CEO Grant.
“Haha, Hey Grant, stop pestering the young man. Do you see the face of the woman you are introducing to William? You could have found a more attractive person than this one right.” Another old fat man said while waving the picture for the other gentlemen in the room to see.
Raucous laughter was heard around the room while the said person, Director Grant was grinding his teeth in anger. The picture that they were passing around was the picture of her niece. Granted she was not the most beautiful girl in the world, she could have passed as average. In a scale of 1 to 10, her score could be a 7 and if she puts on makeup that accentuates her charm, she could pass as a 9.
William, on the other hand, was getting annoyed at the old men surrounding him. When they have meetings outside of the office hours, it always ends up with them trying to arrange a marriage partner for him. He turned down all of the ladies every single time but these old men took it as a challenge to deliver him more pictures of women.
“But seriously William, if you are looking for a young lady to get together with, why don’t you look at this picture, she is my niece and she graduated from Harvard University this year. Her background is good as her parents are well-known politicians.” He waved the picture of a woman with long luscious black hair, her face was covered in makeup so it was hard to see her real face unless they see her face to face. “Compared to that woman that Director Grant is pushing for, my niece is better.” He said confidently.
The people inside shared another bout of laughter. Laughing at the expense of others was their pastime. These directors, executives, and investors that hold so much power and wealth spend most of their time with dealing with other people for business deals. They all wanted to make this handsome, successful and wealthy young man a part of their family. Williams’ company business was a major contributor to the country’s economic growth. They are further growing as a company and have a good foothold in the international market.
However, William was vehement with declining all the marriage proposals that they have sent. These people have checked his background and try to find out if he has a woman, they have discovered that till now he remained single. This has caused these old fools to continue badgering William in the hopes of him giving in to their requests.
After a long and grueling day, the meeting finally ended and the business deals were closed. He could finally leave and go home to relax. As he was fixing his things and materials he used, he received a message.
Stephanie: I have some news. There’s a bad one and a good one which one do you want to hear first? (Stephanie sent this with an emoji of a smiley face at the end of the sentence.)
While reading Stephanie’s message, William was already heading out for the door when one of the old men from the meeting stopped him.
It was Director Ford, Melissa’s father.
William could not continue walking and be disrespectful towards Melissa’s father.
“Director Ford, how can I help you?” William said respectfully.
“Let’s talk for a bit. Have you eaten?” Director Ford asked with a smile.
Williams’ expression did not change but deep inside he was thinking, “Of course I haven’t eaten. We were all together just a while ago. I just want to go home and rest but you old people keep lengthening the meeting with your marriage talks.”
“I haven’t eaten Director.” He said with the same expression.
“Good, I know a good place. Let’s go.” Director Ford said this with a smile as they headed for his car. The chauffeur opened the door and they both got in. William wanted to drive his own car so he can leave after the meal but Director Ford grabbed his shoulder as they walked.
